I dun mean to be sarcastic....

It is 2024, all competitors have been doing viral marketing for a long time

This kind of survey is way too old fashioned dun you think ?

Thank you very much for the advice, I just gave a trial, switching to fast shutter speed does work out.

Guess I need to do few more trials to justify do I really want to buy the extender.

Thanks for the advice, that definitely encourage me to buy one

Can you tell me what setting with the AFC ?

---------- Post added 02-20-24 at 09:55 AM ----------

Yes yes

I also noticed that, extender would narrow my view angle, thus make me easier to miss the shots

Therefore I also wonder may be it is just my skill not good enough

Very true, I found it difficult to predict when it would fly into the air

About half of the time I can catch it when it starts flying, but the AF system may fail to track as well

That's I thought it the bird is bigger in the OVF, could it be easier to track ?

Of course I know, the view angle of my view is narrower

---------- Post added 02-18-24 at 06:37 PM ----------

I wonder why not use high fps ?

5 fps is good enough?

Hi guys,

After purchasing the DFA150-450mm, I got good progress with my bird photography with the K-3III

But I still find it very very difficult to catch a bird in flight.

I wanted to shoot kingfishers, these cute tiny birds are just so fascinating.

If I buy a x1.4 extender, would it help a lot ?

According to Ricoh's official page, the viewfinder MAY not be displaying the the current focus point when the x1.4 extender HD is installed.

How often would this happen ?

Thanks for all your kind comments in advance

Here are also some of my shots, feel free to comment

My 16-50PLM K-3III pair does misfocus sometimes under low light condition, plus zone AF setting.

I suspect it is the camera's problem rather than the lens ?

K3Mk3 or KP

You got the answer already, KP's results won you over the K-3III.

But I wonder, you take jpg from cameras, or RAW with post editing ? This could differ the result a lot as well.

I very much suspect that, the entire camera business of Ricoh is brought up by the still-selling-well GRIII series solely.

Anyone has the same feeling ?

Ricoh updated lens roadmap (2023.8.29)

I have the 55-300mm RE, it is actually very well built, always play with the retract-lock mechanism, never see any problem.

If that is the problem for 18-50mm RE, I understand why this lens doesn't sell a lot.

This is quite pity, the 18-50 RE is so small that even smaller than many mirrorless lenses.

Same for me, why would Ricoh keep the obsolete old 18-55 lens, but not the modern and even unique 18-50 RE ?

May be they studied well about their customer, which is us.....

I did like the 18-50 RE, but the plastic mount stopped me from buying it.

The lenses closest to a KIT LENS I ever worked with, are 18-135 and 16-85.

And for those not considering 18-135 or 16-85 as a KIT LENS, they probably are still living with the old fossil 16-45.

55-300 PLM or DA*300, both are affordable for their quality, while not as bulky as DFA150-450

Optically 18-50 and 18-55 is identical, looking at their diagrams you would be able to tell.

But of course, technologically, 18-50 is much more advanced.

When 18-50 came out back in 2014, I did hope to see the 18-55 (as the standard kit lens) would be faded out very soon.

Recently we can see K3III bundled with 16-85 and 18-135, I say "Wow, Ricoh/Pentax is finally getting smarter, no more outdated kit lens)

HD 18-50mm RE is removed ??

I thought it is a very very good lens to replace the obsolete body motor driven 18-55mm.

21mm HD FA vs 21mm HD DA

I think HD-DA21mm is the spiritual successor of FA-31mm, for APSC format.

Of course one may complain f3.2 is a kinda lack of aperture size, many didn't notice that there is 9 glasses stored in such a tiny barrel.

The DA-21mm is optically very well designed.

I first had this lens on K-1, it is just nice, the bokeh is just too good.

But then I switched to K-3III, APSC couldn't make the most out of this lens

Yes Yes, very true.

At the first time I held my K-1 in 2016, it feels like a K-3.

It is a little bit taller than K-3 actually.

Yes Yes, thank you for the demo, that's what I am looking for.

The heaviest setup I ever work with is DFA24-70mm + K1, so I honestly have no clue about how to carry and work with a super tele lens

You guys contribution really help a lot

Thank you very much !

Are you suggesting 560 ?

I dun think I can buy it since production ended up 2 years ago

Plus I can't afford it

I do agree that K-1 is a bigger K-5, the image is just crisp and clear thanks to the 36MP sensor

---------- Post added 06-08-23 at 01:58 AM ----------

There is 2 DA lenses, originally designed to be DFA lenses, these are DA*200mm and DA*300mm.

They were even named as DFA*200mm and DFA*300mm at the beginning, because Pentax was still planning the MZD Full frame digital at the time of 2003-2005.

DA560mm has a similar fate.

DA*300mm DA*200mm and DA560 are officially recognized as compatible with FF sensors in Pentax roadmap, as they were originally designed as DFA.
