I shoot Pentax K-7 as my main camera and it's very solid for my use case. As others have mentioned it's high ISO performance is not as good as on new cameras but still decent enough for me.

As a photography newb this thread got me wondering is frame rate loss when going from APS-C to Full Frame somewhat inherent or just a choice camera manufactures make? What do you more experienced and knowledgeable users think?

If you don't care about features found in modern DSLR:s such as video, great performance at high ISO:s, etc then you might want to consider an Ist * D series over K100D one in case you want to use an battery grip. Unlike K100D series cameras, there is official battery grips for ist' D ones. Although I don't think there is an single Pentax DSLR that wouldn't work in your situation.

I use Darktable for my all image editing except spot removal which I do on GIMP. Why? Because I find spot removal tool on Darktable to be much harder to use compared to "Heal" tool on GIMP, I really wish DT devs would add us an option to use similar settings with it as default settings are on "Heal" tool on GIMP. The issues with history ( I can't undo an single step while using spot removal tool, I have to undo all of them ) tools weird behavior with selection and how complicated it is for me compared to simplicity of GIMP heal tool. Otherwise, it satisfies my all needs with RAW editing, great tool overall.

Silly question, would extracting an exe to readme.txt and fwdc165b.bin on Windows 10 machine, then sending them over an CentOS machine (this is an only machine that can interact with an SD-card near me) and then finally copying them into an SD-card work? I wanna be highly confident on probable success before I go on and potentially brick my camera.
macutils is not available in my distro repositories.
From what I can see at Software Downloads : Support & Service | RICOH IMAGING and from files I downloaded, neither is an zip directory.

My only computer with an SD-card reader is running an CentOS operating system, is it possible to load an firmware upgrade program to SD-card using such system? Just asking before I buy an external SD-card reader for my Windows 10 machine.
Edit: Updated firmware using an way described below successfully

Seems like this thread is getting slightly less traffic since CCD thread was opened. Is it an bad thing? Not necessarily.
K110D with Panagor 80-200mm 4.5, lens has one meter minimum focus distance which makes it more suitable for flowers than some other telephotos. Flower pictured is an large Malva sylvestris
