Save for a K1 (I love mine) or shoot film - I still have my SuperProgram and an MX. I use my old A lenses on the K1

Expect significant price increases sneaking in across most products

Folks -

I am a manufacturer. I make goods in the USA, in Indonesia and in China. There are huge inflation pressures on all sorts of raw materials, labor and services (shipping). The expectation is that the inflation will continue until 2023. No talk of prices falling. If you want it - buy it now - it will not get cheaper.

Welcome to the 1970's.

Eyes wide open?

I shoot my handgun with iron sites and my MSR rifle with a 1X holographic site with both eyes open. I’ve never tried to shoot my SLR with both eyes open. But Looking through my MX with a 50 mm lens seems natural. The primary benefit of keeping both eyes open is situational awareness. If you’re shooting a fast moving subject it may be of some benefit. Otherwise Shooting with one eye open maybe more beneficial because you can use the tools of the focusing screen or the cameras software to focus on the subject.

I also got an MX to compliment my Super Program. Sent it it out to Garry for a CLA and am looking forward to shooting with my Pentax-A 50mm f1.4. I’ve owned the Super Program Since I backpacked in Europe in 86-87. Wanted an all manual camera to compliment it.

Pentax-M and Pentax-A Lenses are readily available on eBay for modest prices. Read the reviews here and look for what you’re interested in.

Update - Scavenged the shutter release lock knob I needed and sent a winder cover to a fellow pentaxian in Ohio.

Will be listing on EBay for a bit over the cost of postage - please buy it and take what you need.

Any Pentaxian's experience with Optics Planet?

I’ve used them for shooting sports optics. I think you can get a better price elsewhere. I saved $75 on a MSR EOTECH Holographic sight at Amazon.com. I’d search the interweb for other options.

I purchased a pretty rough “for parts” MX on eBay for the shutter release lock knob I need it for my MX. Is there a Pentax forum member who specializes in parting out cameras that I can send this to when I’m through? I have enough things in my house I don’t need to archive a parts camera also.

P.S. I am new to the Pentax forum and I am returning to the hobby/obsession after raising children. I have my original Super Program and Pentax-A lenses. I have recently purchased a very clean MX to you have a fully manual camera. I have my eye on a K-1 Mark II for my birthday.

Thanks Bob
