Everybody. Thank you for your responses, it's all been very useful. I tried to post photos to demonstrate the differences that I'm seeing when taking two similar pictures with different lenses & how the 28-300 (not 18-300, sorry) is markedly darker at the same exposure than my other lenses but I was clearly doing something wrong! I'll try again but thanks again for the advice.

18-270 Zoom

Hi all. Advice please. I'm considering purchasing a new 18-270 zoom lens for my K70, I already have a 18-135 & a 55-300 but it is amazing how frequently situations demand ideally a lens which is capable of switching from wide angle to telephoto. I usually overcome this by using my 18-135 with the ISO locked down to 100/200 so I can enlarge later. A while ago I purchased an 18-300 lens (of unknown make) on ebay which works fine considering how much I paid for it (it was very cheap) but I do have to open the aperture much more than on my 55-300 & I don't know if this is because it's cheap or is it because of the range of the lens, so my question to the group is, if I purchase a new 18-270 am I going to have this same issue as with the old lens?

Grainy viewfinder

Thanks people. Are you saying that even on a high quality lens I'm still going to see this and the answer is not to use a longer length than I actually need if I want to use the viewfinder?

It seems to be at all lengths. The grainy appearance doesn't vary, it's consistent as I zoom in and out. I tried focusing on a plain surface and there is no variation. It's as if it's on the mirror or prism but it's only there on this one lens. It's not a biggy, I bought the lens 2nd hand really to see whether I would use the extra range sufficiently to warrant treating myself.
Most peculiar.

I'm hoping this is a daft question with a simple answer.
I recently purchased a second hand Sigma 28-300 lens whilst everything appears to operate correctly the view through the viewfinder is very grainy, I have other lenses through which everything is clear so it's not the camera it must be something to do with the lens. If I switch to Liveview it appears to be OK & there's no noticeable differences between similar shots taken with different lenses when printed.

Any ideas?

New to Pentax. Have always wanted a Pentax since lusting after a K1000 but could only afford a Zenit E. Now returning to photography I've purchased a K70. Will post some pictures when I've had a chance to practice.
