Nature Eastern Spinebill

I think this is the eastern spinebill - Acanthorhynchus tenuirostris. I got these shots on a recent holiday to a place near Melbourne. This interesting bird was feeding on flowers - it is a type of honeyeater - in the diggers garden at Heronswood.

I have posted one or two captures of this moth before, but this latest pic here most clearly displays its' strange feather-like antennae.

Travel Italy in B/W Part 6: Iconic Venezia (Venice)

Hello,

Sorry I've taken so long to continue with this series. I've been really busy with work and other commitments.

Slowly continuing to process more pictures from my epic trip to Italy back in October 2023.
The timeless beauty of Italy pairs perfectly with Black and White.

This is Part 6 of the series: Iconic Venezia (Venice)

You can check the previous parts of the series here:
Part 1: Rome Italy, in Black and White - PentaxForums.com

Part 2: Rome in B/W Part 2 of 2 - PentaxForums.com

Part 3: Italy in B/W, Part 3: Vintage Police cars and a bonus - PentaxForums.com

Part 4: Italy in B/W Part 4: Florence - PentaxForums.com

Part 5: Italy in B/W Part 5: David and Pisa - PentaxForums.com

Italy stole my heart, my mind and my stomach! Beautiful country full of history, art, food and great people! We really had a great time.

I still need to process many more pictures, but I want to humbly share some of those in these series.

Part 6: Iconic Venezia (Venice)

Venezia is usually named one of the most beautiful cities in the world and certainly one of the most iconic. Its beauty did not disappoint. But it was so pack with tourists (me included) I feel sorry for those living there. At the time I was there, discussions were underway in the news about charging steep entry fees to non-residents in an effort to control the crowds.
I took hundreds of pictures and as usual, I tried to narrow it down. It was impossible to get down to 5 or so. These are a sample of the 25 that made it to the final round and I can't get any lower. Guess I'll have to print smaller or get bigger walls :)

Venice is way more than just the gondolas in the canals. And I barely scratched the surface in the only 2 days there.

Any favorites that stand out for you?
I hope you like these.
More to come...

Thanks,
Ismael

Taken with normal saturation. I tried to crop enough to draw attention to the blue around the bird's eyes.

Landscape Watson Lake

I decided to go to Watson Lake this morning to kayak instead of Lynx. I've gotten some decent landscape shots in the past, but the lake is always so crowded that it's hard. When I pulled into the lake, they had the main boat ramp closed for a trail running race. This left only the small boat ramp and there was no one on the lake the majority of the morning. I got some of the really nice golden hours lighting.

It's warm enough now at the lower elevation Prescott National Forest to start getting out. Got up here, set up the trailer and went for a hike. Should be a good long weekend. Tomorrow is kayaking Willow Lake.

The eye of the Teal looks a bit odd; it's the nictating lid. He was blinking.

Nephew and I went to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior this morning. I have never seen a Gila Monster in anything but a zoo setting. We walked around a corner and there this guy was. The Gila Monster is the only venomous lizard in the US.

is overrated. :) There are several males fighting over the feeder, so they don't relax much even when they are perching, but this one gave me a few shots.
