she is one gorgeous camera!!! I can't wait to hold it!
right now the only analogue (or semi-analogue) SLR I have is the Minolta X370 and the Minolta hi-matic F <- that one is so easy to use but I haven't developed the film yet.

she was not cheap for her condition ahaha but I didn't want to invest in something that had lots of mileage so I paid the price hahaha ---------- Post added 05-24-21 at 11:39 AM ----------
that's messed up hahah! In searches you have to specify that you want the Asahi KX. I kept reading the wrong reviews hahah

I have 2 analogue primes, 50mm f2 and a 28mm f 2.8 and then my sigma 70-300 with its aperture ring will work great too! I can't wait!

Hey brothers and sisters! so excited! I just ordered a near mint KX today!
I have attached some images of her!!
I never really enjoyed an Asahi Pentax analogue experience since my K1000 has an issue that I cannot figure out (probably a stuck sticky mirror) so I never saw developed images from her.
Then I have my MZ-S and my 645 but they are both very different than an original analogue SLR
She will require a Light-seal replacement kit though. I found one on eBay.
Any thoughts???

Hey everyone, so I work as a product photographer for a few years now and the camera we use at work is a Nikon D750. Beautiful camera and I use a 1200$ lens with is. awesome combination. BUT since I am a pentaxian :p I always carry my KP as a back up camera. recently I needed to use my KP since my manager took the Nikon outdoors for some side-project and I had to shoot products. So it was the time for the KP to shine!!!!
We use the CamRanger 2 for image transferring via Lightroom. it is super fast and very handy! BUT it unfortunately does not support Pentax. I gave it a go and nothing works. Yes you can manually transfer etc but it takes time off my flow.
I was wondering if any of you know or use another wifi transfer tool with your Pentax system.
Thank you!!!

Is there an adapter that allows you to mount x mount lens on a pentax? I am trying to find products but google confuses my search with the opposite! Keeps showing my adapters for pentax lens on a fuji.
Any thoughts?
And please dont start pulling my leg on why i wanna do this and that hahahahah

The more I think about this the more it inflates my dilemma... now I am stuck between the 20-40 and the 16-85. and my question now is.... which lens can produce sharp portraits and product photography images. I am willing to adapt and master each one of those lens. If I get the 20-40 I am willing to adapt with the 40mm for the close-ups BUT I worry for the 16-85 being too heavy for daily carriage. Also will I be comfortable carrying the 16-85 on my shoulder all day in a street-photography day or is is the 20-40 more ideal.
I know I placed too many questions but I really really don't know what to choose any more hahahah!

to be honest I agree... Its just that going from using the k20d for ten years and then doing to a scaled down body (KP) made me think that I need it... but you know what... I removed the large grip and put the small slim one on...and Ill try use and think of her as fuji or Leica. hahah

I totally agree regarding the size-in-bag issue...I am afraid she will be bulky..
Also I use a 70-300 and I can still manage the weight with the large grip fitted on...
what bothers me is that yes it will provide a longer life especially in outdoor shoots with extra monitor brightness and wifi-transfer but Ill have to buy an extra battery because using AA batteries all the time can be also pricey...
I already paying good money for AA batteries for the 645 hahaha

Hey everyone and happy Monday!
I have the KP for almost a year and I have been having the dilemma to buy the battery grip or not...
First of all I have to say that I do use the camera almost daily and shoot roughly 50 shots min and 200 max...so battery IS an issue for me..
BUT
229$ for a grip seems insane!
also there are NO used ones on eBay or they sell more than 250$ which is weird...
Why is it still so pricey and why I cannot find a decent used one..I do not know!
Do you think it is worth the money?

Hey everyone! so it has been couple years since I FINALLY bought my dream camera! the Pentax 645 !!!
I found a perfect condition body and bought the 45mm lens separately.
There are no words to describe the emotions this camera brings to me when I am ready to shoot! I love everything about her and I am trying to use her as a daily camera! Im lucky enough to have a lab that they do an amazing job developing 120mm film and slides!
to sum it up.. I love my 645 so here are some of my favorite shots from this year!

I had the K20D for 10 years! and also shot almost weekly with my 645. when I first held the KP she felt tiny but solid! yes I immediately used the large grip and yes it felt akward with my little finger hanging and I had a few cramps too hahaha BUT her weight feels amazing! and I use a sigma 70-300 on her. Sure I miss the full body size of my K20D BUT consider this... I almost sold everything Pentax related to completely change my game to Leica Q2.
Almost....
So when I held the KP she felt great size-wise compared to the Q2 where everyone complains for her shape and uncomfortable size.
So I feel that I got a very comfortable compact DSLR that has nothing to be jealous about any DSLR out there! she fits in more places than my K20D or my 645!

ok folks I know I am taking the discussion to a different direction BUT
what if instead of the 16-85 I go to the 20-40 limited?
I know the range is different but I would be willing to sacrifice it for extra sharpness.
Thoughts?

I will definitely look into the sigma one too since i had their 70-300 for 10 years and never disappointed me!
But I think my final choice will be my original thought of getting the 16-85 since the majority of you guys agree and also because of the additional spec research..i think its ideal for my work for now... i can worry about a “super” prime for later since i have been eyeing the 20-40 for a long time but that can wait hahah

So.. I can list the lens I have but the lens I am using the most (and the lens id like to upgrade) is the factory 18-55mm smc da II that came with the K20D when I bought it. I never had an issue with them but now with the KP I'd love to upgrade to a similar or longer zoom lens. that's why the 16-85 seems ideal to me.
I also have:
SMC DA 50mm f1.8
SMC 50mm f1.4 (Asahi)
SMC DA M 28mm (Asahi)
Sigma 70-300mm
