Thank you everyone. Your advice has been fantastic and definitely given me a good guide on what to start with and what to leave it for now. I’ve been looking at some vintage filters by Izumar, Asahi and Pallas. This has definitely been a great read with lots of excellent suggestions.

Hi all,

I’m a bit of a newbie to film. Which filters do you think is good to have for film?

Would you get any if the balancing ones like The cooling 80A and 82A Or the warming ones like a KR3?

I want to get yellow for b&w and also Uv, polarisers and a ND.

Should I get UVs for every lense?

Love some advice.
Thanks

Thanks Driftwood and Womble. Good points both. Seem to be able to get a few SP500s online.

I just got me SV light meter and SV back - can’t wait to use it. Not yet tested but seems to work a bit.

Now my question is....
The camera shop offered a return on the Spottie. So do I:

1) return it and buy one with a working meter when I find it.
2) keep it as nice to have a spottie anyway.
3) return it and just enjoy my SV for a while - and maybe buy other gear 😏.

Love thoughts from all you experienced people.

Alas, I believe this amazing Eric is in the US right? I’m down in Australia. He sounds an amazing repair man!

Thanks. Yes I’m looking forward to using my SV (picking up this week after door was jammed) and comparing.

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks Nic and Svend. Yes I’m getting a clip on meter for the SV. But this is good info too. Thank you. I’ll try and see if can fix too. Thank you

I’m a bit new to it all so don’t know how to check for best condition esp. with buying via eBay/Facebook. So it’s a bit of a guess.

Thanks. Do you think the SP is as good as the SP1000 or not (minus timer etc)

Hi,

I recently bought an SP but found out the light meter doesn’t work (tried multiple batteries). I have the potential to return/repair out under a warranty given buy camera shop.

Can also currently get an Sp1000 with working light meter or an SPII with potentially working meter.

Are these as good as the original SP?

Do I keep the original and just shoot sunny16 style?

Or do I return it and get another model?

Ps. I also own an SV and have a clip on light meter coming in the post.

Hi,

I decided a week ago to buy a film camera and am becoming rather obsessed. I have an SP and an SV now. Love the feel of those originals.

Been reading lots of these posts for advice. Great forum.

Thank you
