I use both the K5 iis and a Sony A6000 and am often experimenting with them and will take identical images with both at the same focal length.
If I then send the images over to the 65 inchTV to be honest I don't think anyone would know whether they was looking at 16 mp or 24 from the Sony.
What I do notice is straight from camera the K5 iis has much more natural looking colours than the Sony regardless off what colour settings were used.
I like both but if I had to sell one I'd be selling the Sony first.

I bought a Godox tt350s that had a x1 trigger and separately got the godox tt685s both new.
Then on a separate listing on ebay I found a used hanel modus 600rt which looks exactly the same as the 685s, it has a lithium battery with it and a viper ttl sony trigger, I might not even need it but was boxed looked immaculate and I gambled that might interact with others as from what I can make out its basically a Godox v860.

I ordered some lights the first one to turn up was a Godox tt685s, just put the af360 directly on my k5iis and it triggered the godox, so pleased it worked as the af360 also works on my Panasonic Fz1000.
So by the look of it I should be able to use all 3 cameras in conjunction with the 2 lights I now have, and fingers crossed with the other 2 I have coming.

Hi, all I have a pentax k5iis with a AF360fgz which works great but I wish to get more creative with my lighting knowledge and options.
I have been trying to YouTube etc the best solution for my current situation.
I have only used this one speedlite so far both on and off camera but now wish to try at least two light set up.
I also have a panasonic fz1000 camera and a Sony a6000 and in an ideal world would like at least one more flash and be able to use both between all 3 cameras.
I know nothing and have no experience of triggers etc but assuming the pentax flash couldn't be used in conjunction with godox Equipment for example, could I buy two godox tt350 one a 350s for Sony and one a 350 for pentax .
Would these two 350 godox communicate with each other if I mounted the 350 on my k5 and used the 350s off camera and vice versa if I wanted to use my Sony.
I have been torn between getting another AF360 or just keeping that for single light use then buying 3 godox lights for example.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have been unable to find an answer for my situation.
Thanks Shane

Basic Raw editing

I have tried Dark table first for a few weeks, then gone onto Raw therapee.
I think I slightly prefer Raw therapee.
But it's the artistic change of a photo by lightning etc that currently interests me.
I can change my own images that look better to me, but looking at a stock Raw image like I saw on here that 20 people for example had then cropped, changed lighting.
To both test my limited ability I would be interested to do edit one for example as to what I thought it needs and then look at another edited version from someone else and copy / try to figure out how that person got this image to look that way.
The one I saw on here which had been posted had been changed in so many ways, and as I looked I was amazed at the different possibilities from the same photo, which was the deciding factor in me abandoning jpegs.
As I get more involved I might buy software but from what I saw and read for free software to experiment with these two came highly recommended.

---------- Post added 02-24-21 at 03:41 PM ----------

Thank you yes Lucy 352 is exactly the image I was referring too.
I will download this myself to see how I would change it and also to try and figure out how people got there interpretation of it how they did it.
Much obliged for finding that so quickly.

I had a Pentax KR which could take some lovely images but quite frequently would miss focus.
I bought the K5 iis and I could instantly see the quality difference in both the actual camera and in the images.
I went from frequently disappointed by the KR to constantly impressed by the K5 iis, I love it.

Hi again all forgive me if there is specific area for this and I have posted in the wrong area.
I have been shooting jpeg only for the two years I've been getting more interested in photography.
Now I have taken the plunge for Raw only and have seen some very elaborate edits on here, which is way beyond me currently.
Browsing in here one day I saw an image someone had uploaded of their daughter in a garden and invited others to edit it, with many interesting colour or crop changes but nothing to technical looking.
At the time I had not edited anything so just thought " that's a good idea I will try that when I begin editing"
Now I can't find that again or anything similar.
I'm looking more for colour and lighting editing changes etc not photo shopping things in and out of photos at this point.
Is there a dedicated area for this type of thing?

I have a K5 iis which I love with various lenses and a Sony A6000, but more often than not if I want one camera to cover anything on that day most times I'd pick my Panasonic Fz1000, for a 1 inch sensor camera that goes from 24 to 400mm and still gets perfectly respectable images up to 800 mm with a bit of in camera wizardry.
It amazes me how well it holds up to the other 2 cameras very sharp.

bought a Pentax 35-80 mm to test on my Kr and it works flawlessly but my two Sigma lenses still wouldn't work.
We're in lockdown no shops open and no dedicated camera shop near me anyway so to further see if this was a lense or camera issue I thought I'd buy a cheap 6 mega pixel Pentax to get my answer, was surprised these things holding there money pretty well and couldn't see much worth buying for less than £70 which seems expensive for a test.
So I've gone the other way and bought a K5 iis , soon as it got here I couldn't wait to test my sigmas on it and sure enough the camera recognised both lenses and performs normal from the testing I have done so far, so in conclusion looking like some minor issue on the Kr ,will run two Pentax lenses perfect but refuses to recognise my two Sigmas.
Loving the k5 but everything is so different to my kr but in a good way ,so many things I do not fully understand on it yet but enjoying learning.

Vintage lenses issues with K5

Hi all
I also have issues with M42 to pk,
I got an adaptor some time ago to use enlarger lenses on an M42 bellows or extension tubes and for this purpose as I can get a macro image no problems.
Like some other posters on here I have just bought a Helios 44-2 and a Helios 44-4 and wished to use them on either my Pentax Kr or its replacement Pentax k 5 iiis.
With the adaptor I have it will focus on a subject that is about 1 foot away anything further or closer is blurry.
I know there is nothing wrong with either lens as I bought M42 to Sony adaptor and they both work super on my A6000.
The Sony to M42 adaptor is about an inch thick from front to back as are other adapter to canon or Nikon for example, but the ones I see for M42 to pk are very thin looking.
My adaptor is about 14 mm from from rear mount to front and only says "Pk Japan " on it.
I'm a little baffled now as to what I need to make these lenses work, I'd greatly appreciate a link to something others users know works.

Thank you for them tips, funny enough my father in law only mentioned one thing in reference to these cameras, and it was pretty much what you have pointed out.
He warned me when he first got the praktisix he wasted numerous films, something along the lines of making sure you wind it on real tight otherwise you get two images overlapping or in the same frame.

Thank you Steve, all the cameras came with an official leather case, he didn't keep the boxes for any of them but did pass me the manual for everything except the praktisix.
I was only given these last night been like a kid in a sweet shop since, camera's all over my dining room table, much to my wives annoyance, I'm only just getting away with it as they were her dad's, so I have a bit of leeway.
All different lenses which now means all different adapters to buy and test.
I recently converted all my wives childhood photos from the 35mm and medium format slides to digital and know whichever of these cameras took the photos, did a grand job most are fantastic.
But a slide projector wasn't doing them justice.

Yes it was more I had no idea on medium format film and ebay was my first port of call, when I kept seeing expired on all these listings, so without looking elsewhere I was pretty confident if I asked the question in here I would get some good input and I have thank you all.
So yes I will some new film, but curious as much as anything a roll of film that expired say 10 years ago is still usable or likely to yield no or poor results?
Having never used film before if I experiment in an outdoor setting with black and white is iso 400 film a good starting choice, whether that is 35mm or medium format.
As I will be trying each camera with a roll of film cameras are
1. Praktisix 11
2. Minolta X 500
3. Minolta X700
4. Minolta Dynax 7
5. Prinzflex M-1
6. Canon AE-1

Complete newbie so know absolutely nothing about any of these, but all look well looked after and worthy of a roll of film to be put into them.
I'm certain I will use black and white but the iso choice I'm in open to suggestions as to if one will be easier or more difficult, I will shoot all photos outside in a gloomy English winter.
Again thank you everyone for help and information, much appreciated.
Shane

As its a vintage camera I think it would always be black and white, I like the black and white.
Not sure if it's something I would continue with having never tried it.
But the photographic equipment was given to me by my father in law who was a keen photographer all his life but sadly his memory is fading and he can't recall much detail about any of them.
I have no wish to sell anything but he gave me 6 cameras I thought at the very least I would run some film between each camera.
I'd never even seen a medium format camera before, was in awe of it soon as I touched it.

Hi people
I am new to this hobby and have slowly been getting more serious about acquiring photography related products.
I have bought some vintage lenses to play around with, then my father in law who had a lot of photography equipment gave me his old collection of cameras.
Amongst these was a Praktisix 11, looks a beast I can't wait to try shooting film to test this out.
I've been looking on ebay for medium format film and most of what I have seen says expired and its anything from a few years to many years.
Hoping some experienced people on here can advise on whether on what the situation is with expired film.
It's daunting enough the thought of film camera to a novice without that extra worry.
Any tips would be most welcome thank you.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies since I last posted I ordered new batteries just in case anything like insufficient power to operate auto focus, clutching at straws I know but trying to cover all possible reasons.
I ordered 100% rubbing alcohol and have cleaned the two sigma lenses contact points and the camera body points.
I must have sat there now with the pentax kit lens and the two sigma lens and swapped from lens to lens hundreds of times.
Same results kit lens automatically behaves normally every time, both sigma without fail ask me to input focal length.
I will connect and see if there is any firmware updates.
Thanks for your suggestions

Hi ,
All thank you for replying and the suggestions, unfortunately I don't have acess to another pentax to test the two Sigma lenses.
I will have to take them and the camera to a shop in the near future but sadly not a dedicated camera in my sleepy dead town.
But one other thing I noticed if I mount an actual vintage manual lens , I input focal length as normal and the Green button gives you a meter reading, the two Sigma lenses that are not being recognised by the camera as auto lenses and acting like manual lenses do nothing when the green button is pressed.
I'm new to photography only about a year of experience so this extra information of the green button only adds to my confusion, hoping that might indicate something to someone else.
It seems ultra weird that two Sigma lenses I've used for a year with no issues both suddenly are not recognised by the camera at the same time.
Thanks Shane

Sigma DC 17 to 70 2.8 -4.5
I don't believe it has an A setting on the lens.
Sigma DG 70 to 300 4 -5.6
Does have an A setting.
I can switch between the 3 lenses the pentax perfect every time, either Sigma ask for focal length and display MF regardless of mf/after switch.
I've tried to Google this and have cleaned the contacts as suggested, and just ordered new batteries as I know mine were not brilliant, if all 3 lens had the same issues I'd assume it was the camera but as pentax kit lens is still perfect I'm baffled.
Thanks for your speedy responses Shane

Hi all,
im new to the forum but have had my pentax Kr for about a year , it's never put a foot wrong before but now is acting strange .
Basically my camera will recognise my pentax 18 to 55 kit lens in all modes perfectly.
But my two Sigma lens are at the same time acting like I have attached a manual lens, asking me to input focal length and have no auto features now no auto focus and the aperture dial will register low vales like 1.2 on a 2.8 to 4.5 lens.
So if someone could either assist me or point me to a specific area on this forum where I should be asking I would be grateful.
Thanks Shane
