Agfamatic 2008 tele pocket repair / open up

Hello,
I was thinking of asking around here on the forums - I recently bought an agfamatic 2008 tele pocket for very cheap, but it is in a very nice cosmetic condition. The ritsch-ratsch-mechanism seems to be stiff though and the tele lens is stuck. I was thinking about opening the camera up and fixing it, but I cannot find a place where to start opening it. Does anybody have an idea?
Thanks in advance,
Pete

Please help with oily camera (ME Super)

Hi,
I just got a really nice minty ME Super and when I recieved it, the mirror got stuck during first time firing. I decided to keep it and to repair it for myself. The mirror started working, only to make place for the infinite wind issue. I solved that one successfully, everything works really well now!
But.
I had an accident and pressed the oil can too hard, causing the tip to fall of, spilling a lot, a lot, of oil to all over the insides of the camera. It is oily basically everywhere. The shutter button, the leatherette, the shutter blades in the mirror box. What bothers me most is that the pristine viewfinder is oily as well. I have read that the focusing screen cannot be removed, so cleaning seems pretty difficult and alcohol isn´t advised for this job either.

Is there any way to clean or repair it? Any trick?
I´d really like to enjoy the camera, and make it my daily buddy.
Thanks a lot in advance,
Jan

Please help me with my Olympus OM 10

Hello,
I recently bought a cosmetically gorgeous OM10, but after inserting batteries it doesn´t do anything. The meter doesn´t turn on, the check feature doesn´t beep. It seems to have had a battery leakage and that somebody cleaned it. I removed the rest of the corrosion present, but the camera didn´t wake up. Is there any chance of a resurrection?
Also, the camera shutter fires even though no batteries are in the compartment, but the mirror only actuates about half way up.
Do you know these problems and how to repair them?
Thank you for your replies,
J.

Hi,
I just got a pretty nice ME Super for a pretty nice price. The meter works spot-on, but that´s about it...
What I noticed first was its lack of will to fire, but I managed to correct that. Now only the first mirror actuation after some time feels sticky or slow, then it works fine. The film door kept opening, ruining some very nice shots, but I could repair that too. When I wound the camera one last time, just to make sure everything was working more or less fine, I saw that the vertically travelling curtains left a gap while cocking, exposing film that they are meant to protect. It almost looks as if there is one shutter blade missing. I tried to take the camera apart, but I can´t get to the mirror box.

Before I try further I´d like to know if there is any hope of repairing it or if it is confined to being a camera for spare parts.

Thank you for your replies,
J.

I believe the picture speaks for itself.
But its true beauty really just shows when it´s printed on large format photopaper. Nothing more, but also nothing less.

Hi,
here is my contest submission.
A lightning hitting towers of Prague´s Old Town. Rain was pouring down in thick threads and thunder constantly ripped the air. I waited for a shot like this, fully trusting the weather sealing of my trusty camera, which had so many times served me well. However, after this exposure ended, the display started flashing and the camera went dead and silent. Long story short, after a flippy screen replacement it works just as fine as before, probably the weather sealing got worse with time. What do you think of the picture? Please let me know, if it was worth the struggles afterwards.
Regards,
Jan

Help me choose a film please

Hi,
winter is slowly coming and I am planning to shoot some black and white film. I am looking for a contrasty, somewhat grainy look for snow-covered landscapes and architecture. I have FP4+ and HP5+ by Ilford, and foma 100, 200 and 400. I liked the look the 200 and 400 gave me, the 200 being nice contrasty in summer, however the last roll turned out really flat and dull. (Might be given the fact I shot it in another camera). The 400 seemed fine, but could use a little boost. What do you recommend? Is shooting the 200 at box speed and pushing a way, or shooting the 400 at 200 and pushing +1 an option or the FP4 at box speed and pushed at 400? Or will the negatives be too overexposed? I'd like them just a bit denser.
Thanks a lot in advance,
JS

Hi,
I have a roll of ColorPlus 200, I shot as 100. Should I have it developed normally or pull process it? I would love to have some colors and little contrast. I'm chasing the vibe I guess. 😃
Thanks for your replies,

Thank you. I have contacted the seller, so let's see. And, as a matter of fact, I have found a real K version for a good price locally, so let's see how everything turns out.

Fungus advice please

Hello,
Just got a 135mm f2.5 Bayonet. Actually went for the smc K version, but accidentally bought this one instead - for the price of a K. It is in top mint condition, and just by chance I spotted some fungus on the rear element (is it really fungus?). Now I am trying to decide whether to keep it or not. I wanted the K for portraits and wide-open aperture landscape and architecture work. Can the Bayonet infect my other glass? I own several lenses, most of which are vintage. Or should I send it back and try again, this time for a real smc lens?
Thanks for any tips and advice in advance!

Thank you so much! Actually, I've had some really amazing results with ProImage and portraiture, which I didn't expect at all. That's what made me think of the Colorplus.m.

Some advice

Hi,
I have a portrait shoot upcoming, and I´d need some advice. I was wondering, whether to go for Kodak Double-X or for a roll of Kodak ColorPlus 200 - just to get that cliché film look. Double-X seems pretty straigh-forward to me, however, I was wondering, if shooting the ColorPlus rated at 100 would be of any benefit (pastel-like colours?). What do I need to take care of in development then? (I´m a newbie there...). Do you have any tips, examples or experience concerning either the Double-X or the ColorPlus at 100? I´ve had great results at 200 so far.
My ambition is to get warm, airy portraits, that are medium to soft contrast, with soft colours.
Thanks a lot!

Hi,
I wondered about the Satobi color profile. Is there a way to get it on the K-70?
