I have to agree with the others and say that for me the 31mm smc version is sharp enough. I have made some beautiful images with it and it has seldom been off my K-1. I do also like it on the K-3iii which i recently acquired, however one thing does puzzle me. I'm almost certain that this has not been an issue on my K-1 but so far the 31mm has produced some outrageous purple fringing in some images taken on the K-3iii. It is so much so that i was taken aback when checking two or three images from a recent trip.

Again, I don't remember this being much of an issue at all on the K-1 but I have just been curious as to what could be the cause (possibly the crop or sensor technology), if indeed it isn't just happenstance. Regardless, it still takes lovely images on the K-3iii!

Thanks for the replies :)

I have no doubt use the lens, just a little disappointed considering the amount of time i have owned it. I agree that it does look quite like a finger print, i did an "OOF PSF" and checked my bokeh balls to try and help diagnose what it is but still not sure. The lens is kept in a room with normal humidity and not in a bag.

I am considering taking it to a camera and lens repair shop nearby and it it looked through. There seems to be a lot of scaremongering about fungus on the internet!

Bad element, help!

Hello,

Today i decided to inspect my 43mm f1.9 limited lens and noticed something concerning inside. One of the rear elements seems to have gone bad, so to speak. I haven't used the lens much in the past months but assumed this wouldn't be long enough for the lens to deteriorate. It's worth noting that my first copy was sent straight back to the seller due to a large piece of detritus right in the middle of the lens. Both lenses were bought new from my local camera shop. *To confirm, the problem is in the bottom right of the lens in the photo*

I wanted a second opinion on what I'm seeing, fungus or hazing? Due to my other lenses not suffering from any problems i also wondered if this could be another quality control issue ( although I'm sure this is unlikely, to have received two lenses with issues)

Thanks in advance :)

Patrick

Some beautiful images! I haven't been able to get out as much as i'd like recently, although i was able to capture this. The fast and powerful river Clydach which comes down from the Mountain and flows into the river Usk. The photo was taken from an iron bridge marked as built in 1824 which provides access to the ruined irons works, founded in the late 18th century.

Hello,

When i bought my K1 recently i made the decision to get older lenses to get me started. Considering the prices of modern lenses (depending on manufacturer) i see it as a great way to branch out, explore creative possibilities and focal lengths on more of budget. Not to mention the charming qualities of older lenses, i have had great results with Zeiss folding cameras. My Yashica Lynx14 wide open at f1.4 is magical to my eye. An almost large format look with a slight swirling bokeh at the edges. Anyway! I am still learning and exploring the Pentax range :) I was pleased with what i got on my first outing using the 28mm M f3.5 -

Hello,

I would like to introduce myself.

I have enjoyed taking photos intermittently for a while, in recent years it has started to take more of my time (and money). I have often noticed the Pentax stand in my local camera shop and felt curious about the appealing, almost industrial design with striking white font. Wanting to explore full frame I decided that it had to get my hands on a Pentax and acquired a K1 second hand with three M lenses... I have fallen in love. After spending some time getting to know the camera what has struck me is the absolutely beautiful image quality and how utterly simple and enjoyable the experience of taking a photo with it can be. For a few years i have been using Fujifilm (XT3 & X100f) which has suited my preference for control but when patience for focusing by wire wears thin... nice instagram-ready jpegs are fine but once you start growing tired of instagram... when that enormous, heavy f1.4 prime lens starts to feel more and more cumbersome... an alternative is needed

I have also discovered an enthusiastic positive community around these cameras, here the 'Six-megapixel club' blew me away. These are refreshing attitudes and i'm looking forward to exploring your forum.

If you made it this far, thanks again :)

Patrick.
