While I was deciding on whether to buy off eBay or send mine to Precision Camera ,a K-3 came up on KEH for a little more than the ones on eBay so I jumped on it. Thanks everyone for your feedback and help!

I checked out Precision Camera and it looks like the repair will be a minimum of $389 plus tax. I assume when they say " For Out-of-Warranty repairs you will be contacted with a repair estimate once your product is received and evaluated by our technicians." the price can go up. Is that correct?
I am seeing two K-3 cameras on eBay. I buy on eBay but so far nothing like a used camera. One is Buy Now and the other is a bid.

I keep my K-3 in Program Mode when stored in case I need a quick shot of wildlife. I shot some photos and most were under or over exposed. I thought the light might be to low or high for the ISO so I played with that. Using the dials to change the speed did not seem to change the aperture. I went back to basics and tried the Tv mode and the Sunny 16 rule. The meter did not read correctly. I then got out my K-5 and took some readings using both cameras and using various lenses. I checked and the firmware was up to date. I then used the Reset on the menus. Is that the factory reset or is there something else?
I sent it to KEH and they did not give me details on the problem but said "evaluation of your Pentax and determined that the equipment will require parts that are no longer available. " At the moment I am waiting to get the camera back from KEH.

My first time posting so bear with me.
Recently my K-3 light meter started acting up. I sent it off to KEH for repair but they could not repair it. They said it needed parts that are no longer available. Is there other repair shops that might have parts or is it time to shop for a replacement. K-3 III and K-1 are more than I need. I am hesitant to buy a used K-3 if some parts are no longer available. Would the K-3 II have the same parts issue? Any thoughts would be welcome.
