Hi everyone!
So I got this Pentax ESII that I got CLA'd and I guess now works since it meters light. The issue that I've got is with certain lenses:
Super-Takumar 35/3.5 and 28/3.5 both work with the camera but with the switch in Auto and the other witch in Stop Down mode. And I think that with the latter it only meters light but fires at default shutter speed.
Now the real issue comes with a Super Multi-coated Takumar 50/1.4 and 135/3.5. With these, the Manual/Auto switch doesn't move and can't meter the light. Stopped down it doesn't meter the light either, also shooting at default camera SS. If I put the rear cap on both cameras, said switch DOES move.
Am I doing something wrong? Are these two special in any way? I'd use it in manual but it is limited to 1/60th and since it is a AP camera, I don't want to use it in manual.
Thanks guys!
[Edit] the camera just moves the needle to the bottom or center using all my lenses. Don't know what to do anymore.

I'll give a try. Would you suggest a dedicated scanner instead? I've seen multiple videos and read reviews with mixed opinions, but all of them leaning towards DLSR/APS-C scans being better than photography scanners like EPSON V's.

Wow!! I am grateful for all the information provided by all of you, a lot of knowledge that is more than welcome. Didn't know macro lens vs regular lens with tubes would have such an impact on IQ.

I was wondering how can I achieve 1:1 macro ratio with extension tubes. I want to "scan" my negatives with my Fuji X-T2 so I can save money.
The lenses I have are the following (all of them with the proper adapter):
-CANON FD 28mm/f2.8
-SUPER MULTI COATED TAKUMAR 50mm/f1.4
-SUPER MULTI COATED TAKUMAR 135mm/f3.5
I am more inclined to use the 50mm Tak but I am open to suggestions based on my gear.
SoI think the question is how many and which lenght of tubes do I need?
Thanks!

The ES II is back home. All it needed was a CLA ($70) and now I think she has to be in a museum. Everything works as it should, shutter and electronics. Thanks for the help my friends!

Well, shipment arrived home today. The camera looks mint condition. Tested a Few shots and yes, mirror stays up sometimes at high SS's and when shooting slow SS's never resturns tu its standard position. Electronics work, lighmeter seems just fine, maybe it underexposes for what I've tested with other lightmeter. I'll take it to get it CLA'd this weekend.
ps: Didn0t know the lightmeter only works in Auto mode. Overall, I'm happy with this camera, it's quite elegant.

Thanks guys, I was pretty worried I had to do something with the electronics and end up being a paperwight. She's on the way home. As soon as I have it CLA'd I'll update.

Hi! I'm about to buy a Pentax ESII that needs repair and the ad says that the mirror sometimes gets stucked + the slow shutter speeds don't work. Any idea what could it be? Thanks a lot!
