A focus stack of six images; accomplished manually by turning the focusing ring.
(The EXIF shows it as an 85mm lens as the K-S2 didn't have a 90mm setting for Shake Reduction)

The Pentax cable release is the CS-205 (follow link) - so whatever is compatible with that should accept third-party intervalometers.
I don't think depreciation quite pushes a K-5ii / K-5iis (I forget which is the one without an aa filter) into your range, so you're probably looking at K-30 / K-50. If you can manage a bit more, the K-S1 would be even better.

Take the lenses off both Super-A.s and have a good look inside, particularly the position/mounting of the focusing screen. (You are lucky to have two cameras for comparison purposes.)
I suspect there's something amiss with the focusing screen of the camera that's giving you problems: not clipped in on one side or the clip has broken off. Oh, and my guess would be that it slightly changes position each time the mirror flips up giving a focusing issue that varies with each shot.

Knowing the make and model of the monitor would help to eliminate a rare problem - some displays have a BGR pixel layout as opposed to the more usual RGB that Windows expects; images display fine, but text would have an issue similar to what you describe.
Apart from that, I'll just echo what a couple of people have already suggested and say to try Window's built-in tools which can be found by searching in Settings.
Assuming its the text in Word (your original post isn't totally clear), then see if 'Cleartype' configuration helps. It's like an optician's: it asks you whether it's more readable like this or like this.
'Calibrate' should find the other tool.

I seem to recall that the advice for this problem used to be to disable mobile data in your smartphone.

More information would be helpful to visualise the issue as you see it - for instance, what are you photographing?
One possibility would be that the camera is applying a digital 'Colour Filter'. I don't know what range is available on the K-5, but I'd guess Infrared as that's the strongest; it'd turn blue sky black, and green grass almost white.

Wouldn't work for the moon, which moves perceptibly when viewed with a telephoto lens, and needs shutter speeds in the hundredths of a second.
As has been said, focussing with LiveView is the most dependable. The problem I found is that a bright full moon blows out the LV and leaves very little detail (possibly just the edge) to focus on. I found blocking maybe two-thirds of the front of the lens with a thin piece of card to help.
I never went full crafting on it, but I imagine a donut-shape taped to the lenshood and flipped in/out of the way as needed might work. (Start with a hole that's half the filter ring diameter and enlarge as required).

1:1 macro means that the size of the image on your sensor is the same as the thing you're trying to photograph. For a 55mm lens that means getting close, real close.
At a guess, you ought to be able to focus but the range may only be between 5 - 7.5cm (2-3 inches) in front of the lens.

I take it that means you've looked at the negatives and they display the same issue.
I'd concur with that assessment: the shutter is not closing fully before the camera advances the film. Do you know what sort of shutter speed you were using for your photos?
If possible, put the camera on a tripod facing something bright. Then, without film in the camera and with the back open, see how the shutter behaves. It might be that there's an electric contact you have to press so that the camera thinks the back is closed.
Again, if possible, record the behaviour of the shutter at, say, 60 fps on a smartphone or similar (120fps would be better, it doesn't need HD detail). Then view back the recording as slowly as possible. A shutter time of 0.5 seconds should be open for 15-17 frames at 30fps.

(I hope this sort of 'leads to deals' post is permissible in this section - there didn't seem to be any Rules stickied). Item here
No pictures as yet to confirm that it is the 272E model which is a version I'd wholeheartedly recommend. Condition listed as 9+ and is said to include the hood as well as end caps.

I believe the performance of Ryzen CPUs is meant to be strongly linked to the speed of the memory.
You said you've got 64GB. Would you know if it's DDR4 3200 or 3600 or whatever? And if it's running at that speed?
ETA: Regarding heat, since it's been mentioned above...
The advantage of 5000 series CPUs (I don't think 3000 series have the option, but may be wrong) is that you can set a negative voltage offset in the BIOS. The CPU does the same work, but slightly less voltage means less power consumption, means less excess heat to get rid off.
My 5600X has an offset of -20 (= 0.2 volts IIRC) and runs the best part of 10 degrees cooler as a result.
