You can find the original Gossen Luna-Pro meter all over the web (ebay, Amazon etc.) and also a variable angle spot meter attachment made for it. The normal angle of view without the attachment is 30˚ but with the attachment you can take readings of 15˚ and 7.5˚ measuring angles. The meter itself is excellent and a real workhorse. I've had mine for over 40 years and the only maintenance I've had to do is change the batteries. I'm a commercial photographer shooting quite a bit of tungsten lighting in the studio and through the years the meter has performed flawlessly. And the cost of a used one won't break the bank.

It's helpful to know the equv. or more to the point the factor. However, IMHO knowing the change in angle of view of a particular focal length (in degrees) is of more value if you're speaking in purely technical terms. Because in the end, what I'm really concerned with (besides depth-of-field or lack thereof) is coverage.

Thanks for the welcome. Still a few of us film shooters around! I've been shooting commercial and advertising work since 1976 and most of that was on 4x5 chrome film. For commercial/adv. work we went totally digital in 2004. But all my fine art work is strictly 35mm B/W. Believe it or not, I still maintain a fully functional B/W darkroom for that purpose. ---------- Post added 04-28-21 at 06:34 PM ----------

Yes, I did try that with the pin, but to no avail. But thanks for the tip. ---------- Post added 03-05-21 at 05:17 PM ----------
Yes, I am looking into that option. Sounds like you got a great deal.

The diaphragm is inoperative and won't close down in either manual or auto position. It remains wide open. Anyone know of a reliable repair shop (preferably in the New York City metro area). The lens is an M42 type mount and was purchased in 1975.

Hello all! Glad to be part of the Pentax Forums. I'm located in the Metro NY/NJ area. I received my SP 1000 back in 1975. It's still going strong. It's only been repaired once in all that time (it was my fault, not the camera's). I shoot professionally, but that's all digital now. However, I still shoot with the SP 1000 for all my fine art b/w work.
