That is what westerners would expect, but it is well known that in the east people are far more secretive than we are.

I think it is the only stone people can find to throw .... (by the way I never had a problem with the AF either)
But It also the way to bind the dear customers to your brand. I feel that if Ricoh guaranteed that they have parts in stock (and easily obtainable for customers and dealers of their stuff) for 7 or 10 years from date of release of the camera/lens that would make it a (very) reliable brand. And if they do so, a more expensive camera will not be a problem because you know it can still be repaired years from now. That is one of the reasons that Samsung S24 series sells so well, you get the updates for many years, even after your smartphones technology is out of date! And they are the only brand that states it in writing on the website, without if's and but's.

This expression usually means that they are thinking about it, not that they are active.
I do not see a camera as an investment, it is a toy or a tool which rapidly looses its worth. Something you can enjoy or have fun with, but an investment??
(And Ricoh has a policy that they no longer than five years after introducing a camera or lens, they have parts in store. Which does not make it good choice to buy one second hand if you can not obtain parts if necessary.)

I think that he would be afraid of the K-3 MRK III Monochrome: he will fear that he is selling his soul to the devil using such an instrument.

Thanks! Caramel is the cheeky one, she always liked to tease Afters, still does so. Afters is easily frightened. They are cute indeed and 16 years later they still are, and you did mention it. Knowing your dogs pictures thanks for the huge compliment.

Actually they did not, that is why Leica and Hasselblad teamed up with Panasonic and Xiaomi. I expected to see Pentax in smartphone back, but apparently they stopped doing so (I believe many years ago there were smartphones bearing the Pentax brand on the camera side of the phone). I think that as camera's goes it is a bit of the end of the line and just like records now turning back to the vinyl ones (unfortunately) they are on the point of going on and producing digital camera's that do not add anything to the joy of taking a picture or return to the days of yore and produce a film camera with some of the inventions of the digital era applied to enhance the quality of taking pictures. But that is not for me. I enjoy the ease of digital.... Difference between the Samsung GX-10 and the K-3 Mark III? It is now possible to use vintage lenses with the camera set to Av and the camera adjusting the speed... (and that took about 17 years or so?)

Again a lovely picture of a dog! Two kittens born on March 3, 2008, picture is from April 25, 2008. Just a split second they sat together like this and my Samsung GX-10 with the Samsung 18-55 did me proud. Left is Caramel and right is Afters (the last to be born from the quartet).

Pschlute knows I am particularly fond of his dog's pictures, so it is with yours. And cats... well a lot of pictures I took from 2008 onwards are to do with cats, my particular bunch that is....

Is it me or is it... I am always quite sensitive to colours. Of this bunch the M50mm2 @f2 I like the colour very much. The flower pot (or whatever it is) the black squares are really black, with all the other pictures it is a bit greyish, not black, might also be the contrast. But the colour of the flower pot is better than in all the others and so are the flowers near the stump and the little spots on it better as the colour goes.

No it is not you or the lenses, it is your K70 . Why does the 18-55 work as it should? Simply because it is screwdriven. The 18-135 and 20-40 have DC silent motors. The contact points for SDM and DC driven lenses might be damaged or dirty or there is an internal problem of the K-70. It is not the new stuff, it is the camera! Cleaning all the contacts might help do not overlook those square ones inside camera that supply power to the lens.
PS.: BigMackCam beat me to it with his explanation.

Choice of camera I agree with the above. But as for the DA21, I think it is a disappointing lens and IQ wise was the reason for me to return it to the seller. Ever thought of a second hand 20-40mm? It gives you the 21mm, 31mm and the 43mm in one package (and even some more). And perfectly optimized for APS-C just like the DA21mm. Brilliant lens and it is WR with silent focusing, what more could one wish for?

No apologies needed. I still use Ricoh/Pentax for APS-C, but for FF I use the S5's bigger brother the S1. If one would ask why two reasons. Ricoh clearly has stated that a camera introduced five years ago has a chance of not being serviced anymore. For my KP bought in 2021 they published that it no longer can be serviced. So if I buy a K-1 with 28-105 now chances are it can not be serviced in the near future as the day of introduction is more than five years ago. For the same price as the K-1 / 28-105 combination I could buy the S1 with the 24-105 stablelized lens. And with more years of servicing possible. And last but not least, I can send my S1 to Panasonic in the Netherlands instead of sending it to an unknown to me service provider in either France or Germany. I bought a Pentax K-3 Mark III because the seller offered me a five year warranty on that camera. Otherwise I would not have bought it even when in this case the price was right. Why I chose Lumix by Panasonic? Because of the colours you get, I still enjoy my LX100's predecessor LX3, it can not be beaten even after all those years. I have tried several other brands, but Panasonics Lumix S did it for me. The only other Pentax's that I really enjoy in that respect is the K-01 and the fabulous KP. They are so totally different from the flagships. With the KP I have the same joy as with my old Super A at the time. And I am still a great fan of the Samsung GX-10, of course! And the Lumix S Pro 50mm is a wonderful lens, perhaps even better than the Pentax one in the *series. For Pentax I would go with the F 50mm f1.4. Superfast and with AF!

Yes it is! Sometimes the AF is a bit sleepy and as good parent you need patience to wake it up. But manually it is also nice to use. If you need to wake it up use a fully charged battery, that will help. I bought this lens new and I like it very much and especially the colours attract me.

To be honest, if I have a Pentax camera I think it is fair to attach a Pentax lens to it. Think of this: Pentax DA/DFA-lenses on a Pentax body give you the possibility to use those in camera corrections of the quirks of the lenses, like barrel distortions.

Indeed, dentists cost are included as well! :)
You pay an extra amount because of the longer warranty, in Europe two years (and for the extra risk due to consumer rights legislation). But perhaps it is also because most of European people are A) richer; B) a smaller group interested in Pentax; C) faced with higher additional taxes beyond sales tax. (You may choose from these examples.)
(Anf for the larger part of the year all camera's have discounts for winter, spring, summer and fall offers. Today the winter offers ended, in about two weeks I expect the spring offers...)

I honestly think there is something terribly wrong with your K-3. If you need to fine tune EVERY lens, the problem is not the lenses, but the camera. And ebug mode won't help you, perhaps the K-3 needs to be serviced. Perhaps dirt on the AF-sensor? Or something else in the deep vaults of the camera?

Why would anyone support Ricoh? They are just a company making products to obtain a benefit for the shareholders, nothing more, nothing less. If you want to buy a Pentax branded camera, just buy it and if the price is a little bit to steep for you, buy it second hand. The only one that you need to support is you yourself. I would never buy anything to support a huge company like Ricoh or whatever. And I did buy a K-3 Mark III silver edition kit with the 20-40. Just to experience it, I am a little nosy about new developments and I bought Pentax in the day that it was really Pentax. Now I buy them just because it is cheaper to make use of the old lenses that I own. But then , I would never buy the K-1. Why would I, an APS-C is just as usable for what I make pictures of. My advice is just buy a camera and a lens that you like and do not bother with "the false sentiment" that Ricoh/Pentax needs your support. Your the one that needs to be satisfied with a product. (and ask yourself the question if you got trouble with any Pentax branded product if Ricoh would be there to support you!)

There is not any glasses-wearing-people-friendly camera. I have worn glasses most of my live and viewfinder focusing never hampered me with getting the good results and enjoying taking pictures. Just a small change of mind would help you: you do not have to see the abundance of information in the viewfinder, they only take your mind of what is really important. And really important is the subject and your composition. And the lightmetering, perhaps. Manual focusing became really difficult with the first DSLR's, but then you have the help of AF if you want to.

A good small travel kit: Leave the K-1 at home, you do not need it and it is absolutely not small. The K-3 can do it all. Small, and you are camping? Well, what about the 18-135? For a bit better quality take a 20-40mm. But when you are camping avoid changing lenses, so I'll stick with just one lens taking with you: the 18-135....

:):D:(The idea of releasing a camera that resembles (the gripping of) the smartphone camera and especially aimed at young people. Do they really expect young people to wait for who knows how many days before they can see the actual picture? Do not think so. And as most Pentaxians here are enthousiastic the fact is that we are not young people but mostly people that grew up with film camera's. How many forum members are there of the age group this camera is aimed at? I honestly think that this camera will be launched at April 1st!

Not with a new camera body, but with a new lens, yes! Because it is fun to take pictures documenting the change that takes place in my surroundings. I do that every season and I do it again in the same season if I obtained a new lens. A body can do nothing without the lens, so yes, the lens is the important one. And with Pentax SR I do not need to that because of blur, but because I like to do that. And if a picture gets blurry I notice it right away, that is why I so much like the digital camera's. When I get older my footing is a little bit less reliable and so I sometimes have to take the pictures a few times extra. Mostly it turns out that all qualify to become a keeper. Thank you SR! :)
PS.: I also shoot art, that is the art of dead trees! Then there are no leaves that obscure their beautiful bodies.
