Advises for sports shootings?

Looking at your EXIF it looks like you were set to ISO 100 for the whole shoot. The first change I'd make is to set the ISO to Auto (ISO button then green button) and let it adjust between 100-3200 (set on the top left of the INFO screen). That would allow the camera to select a shorter shutter speed, freeze the action and eliminate the need for the tripod/monopod. F/4.5 looks like it gave you plenty of depth of field so it was probably a fine place to shoot at. I'd also second the suggestion of P mode, it can automate a lot of the process while still letting you override things if you need to.

Looks like this time they only let you get one at a time at this price this time around. I tried to update the quantity to 2 and it gave me an error. It also automatically reduced the quantity to one when I had multiple in my cart and then applied the code.

Still a great deal though.

Thanks for all the replies. That's given me a much better feel for what people actually do with an EyeFi card.

I'll just have to actually remember to remove my SD card from the card reader from now on.

That is a potential use I hadn't thought much about.

I guess my dream workflow would be to come back home after a day of shooting, turn the camera on and just see all the raw files appear on my computer. And since the Eye-fi is 'slow' for shooting I wanted to shoot onto the much faster SanDisk in the first place.

I find right now I keep forgetting to put the SD card back in the camera after transferring so the EyeFi would save me there, but at the cost of a much slow transfer speed.

---------- Post added 05-10-2016 at 11:05 PM ----------

And I was too slow. The prices on the cards just shot up $30. :(

A bit of an odd question that I think may have a unintuitive answer.

So I have a new K-3 II and I'm thinking about getting an Eye-fi mobi pro card so I can transfer my photos over WiFi to my computer. In the manual it says I should put the wifi card in slot SD2. If I do that and then shoot raw images onto a Sandisk card in the SD1 slot only will I still be able to transfer the images over WiFi? Would the K-3 act as a bridge between the cards? Would this transfer still be automatic? Or would I have to select the images in the playback menu and transfer them from there?

I'm tempted to get one just to try it out.

Annoyingly hard, but it looks like someone has done a lot of the work already: Blog Post, Source Code. But all of it is from seven years ago, so all the information there might no longer be applicable to modern OSX.

Suggestion Lens Search Sort by Price

I've been playing with the Lens Search tool and while it's done wonders to fuel my lens buying addiction I've noticed that the ability to sort by the Buy New price appears to be missing. That might be nice feature to have but a part of me thinks that it might be a pain to implement depending on where the displayed price data actually comes from.

If you like a page on Facebook that means that some of the posts they make will show up on your news feed. So they primarily gain more eyeballs on their marketing.

K-3 II Jump in Price

Honestly? I'm holding off on my feedback until the entire return process is complete. I'll have to double check the eBay guidelines about feedback, but I was under the impression that it was for the entire interaction with the seller.

Anyways, so far the return is going quite well. They've accepted the return and provided a prepaid shipping label. I shipped it back to them today.

I'm not sure why your eBay search isn't showing any K-3II sold by them recently. I can look at the purchase history of the one I bought and see the other ones they sold in the past few months.

Yup, that's the tool I used to get the right number. The file name was just the first numerical proof that something was up.

Is there a way to get the shutter count to show up on the Camera itself? Or is the EXIF tool the only way?

K-3 II Jump in Price

I was kinda worried when I ordered it that something like this would happen, so I actually did record myself cutting the packing tape, opening it, taking the first shot and uploading the image to the shutter count tool. The image file name was numbered in the thousand range on a brand new SD card (something like 100-12xx.jpg), so it was really obvious even on the video.

I've contacted the seller through eBay so that eBay can see all the communication if they have to step in.

Also, should I split this conversation to a different thread somewhere else?

Yeah, that's what I hear but the listing says something about a 15% restocking fee. Hard to stomach paying that when it was their fault.

I listened to your advice and ordered from them too. I knew it was too good to be true.

Opened the outer box and the Pentax box was obviously damaged, looked like it had been re-packaged. Popped in a SD card and a battery and what do you know, 1529 shutter activations. :(

Sigh, I really don't like it when a seller lies to me. First time I've gotten burned on eBay too, we'll see what the resolution center does. Should have just spent the extra and ordered from someone I trust.

And now it's jumped again. Up to $859 at B&H.

Somehow the K-1 suddenly doesn't look so expensive.

Yup, still on the K200D. Though I'm starting to drool over the K-3 II (and the K-1 :D). But I think I'm going to look at some lenses first. Maybe the plastic primes, since I just recently picked up a 55-300mm WR to cover the telephoto end.

Greetings all. Long time forum member, first time poster.

I apparently created this account way back in 2008 just after I purchased my K200D, but I never got around to actually posting anything. (But I must have set up my signature way back when, that was there when I logged in!) Little did I know that quite the community has been living and growing here all this time.

Photography for me has been my way to have a little extra fun on family vacations, documenting interesting sights and invoking memories down the road.

I hope to stop by a bit more often to see what other people are up to and to share some of my work too.

And here I had just about convinced myself to pull the trigger on ordering one. They must know.

I wonder if it's B&H over-reacting to Adorama's price. Since Adorama is out of stock the price may be inflated until they get more in?
