A second K3-III body from Map. Mint/700 shutter count. Probably keep a 150-450 attached to one, 560 to the other. Maybe my tamron 70-200. I don't know yet. K1 pretty much wears a 24-70 with a 15-30 nearby.

My first camera back bag. I followed the link about the Domke bags last month, but something else caught my eye. Made by Endurax. Nothing fancy. Appears and feels rugged enough for what I plan to do, just some park wandering or local wma/ woods exploring. I already test fitted, the k70 and 5 lenses fit comfortably. Not that I plan to always carry that many, but can store the old k70 in there with a couple lenses for it too. Leather and canvas, good back cushions. Brown and tan, Needs an extra clip added to top flap for extra security. Feels comfortable and nicely balanced. It'll do for me. Needs a bit of softening or reshaping of the canvas, rolled up in a box too long.
Better than carrying an old makita tool bag/box with a single strap~

Dear Board,
Over 10 years ago I bought 2 of these Kodak 35 Motormatics based on favorable reviews as a fun to shoot point and shoot film camera.
I put them somewhere and kind of forgot where I put them until I found them the other day. I tried both with no film in them just to see if the light meters responded and both seemed to work compared to known good meters. So I loaded a roll of film in the nicest one I owned. It fired one shot and jammed. I'd spent $ 10.00 on the camera and ruined a $ 9.99 roll of film.
So I managed to get the film rewound and promptly loaded it in the second one. In this camera as you change focus to the predetermined focal distances for close up, group, and scenic the viewfinder display doesn't match the selected focus distance. Someone on another message board gave me some tips to determine if the focus range is actually changing and I told him what was happening. He said, just use it and ignore the viewfinder because the lens in responding just like his known good working example.
So I cranked the spring drive motor up and fired off 15 shots with no issues. I guess this one is usable, and will put good film in it and see what develops?
But just in case, I spent $ 20.00 to have another one sent to me that was described as working.
Here's hoping I will have at least one good one when the smoke clears!

Tim Murphy

Used, $20 on eBay
This simple reliable CdS meter uses a single 44/76/357 battery.
I have several of these, one for each camera bag. http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Sekonic_L-188 You Tube |

I wouldn't hold my breath, K3-III got a new one. Maybe even for a reason, not just because Ricoh wanted some extra money -- as I understand, the in-grip battery could be USB-charged. By the way, I hope they will keep the D-LI90. Or go for the bare cells without a casing (no way, they will never do that).
What I want from a new FF body is a bigger buffer and a faster card interface. I don't know what bugs me most, the limited series size or the dead time after the buffer is full.
And hey, make few bumps on that buttons so I can feel iso from expocorrection, and AF from AE-L. This really won't cost much.

Yes Yes Yes The KP fits my needs as a good image maker. If an up date cam my way I would consider it. It could do with a fresh firmware up date with say bracket focusing. I use the flip screen regularly for low shots or over the wind screen pic's, Still a great camera thank you Pentax

Thank you all for the replies.
I decided to go for the Benro Induro Hydra 2. It looks like a great companion for the current time of the year, and my incoming trip to Scotland. It also costs much less than the PD carbon.
After the aforementioned trip, I will write a review and share my experience on the forum.
Cheers

I just spent an fortune and bought a Pentax 70-200mm f2.8 HD D FA ED DC AW Silver Edition. I’ll come back and brag when it arrives. Being out in the middle of nowhere means I need to be patient. It will be ramen and soda crackers for a while.

Dear Board,
A couple of months ago I bought a beater Spotmatic F in an on-line auction. It looked rode hard and put away wet, but I cleaned the camera up and put a new battery in it and the camera miraculously worked.
Encouraged, I recently bought a better looking one, equipped the same with the 55mm f1.8. It arrived DOA and I figured it would be easy to get this one to work. As luck would have it, the mirror locked up the first time I fired it at 1/250th. So, I googled and removed the bottom cover and cleaned and lubed the mirror charging mechanism, but shutter speeds below 1/8th lock the mirror up every time. On the plus side, the meter matches my other Spotmatic F and handheld meters along with digital cameras set to the same aperture, shutter and ISO speeds.
Now I am debating whether to send it out for a CLA. I don't think I've ever shot a picture on film or digital at a shutter speed below 1/30th so I may just roll with it.

Tim Murphy

The K-70 Club House edition is now available as for purchase for visitors to the Club House exclusively, in a kit with the DA 18-135. It went on sale yesterday.
It comes in two colour variations, with "Ivy" or "Indigo" rubber on the camera and kit lens. Only 10 units of each model will be sold.
You also get the items you see in the little inset images*
- A custom lens mount with old Pentax logos engraved on it (this is also available to your camera if you bring it in)
- Metal AOCO mark on top of the prism
- Pentax Club House laser-etched on the back of the LCD
- A special strap
- "Asahi Pentax Eye" logo hotshot cover
- A special Pentax Club House body cap
They've had the prototype of these in the Club House for a while. It looks very nice in reality. This image makes it look a bit darker than it does in normal light.
148,000 yen is a lot more than a stock K-70, but it actually looks quite reasonable compares to what the KF is selling for with an inferior kit lens. If I was in the market for a K-70/KF, I'd probably go for this.
Interesting that they used a K-70 for this. I think it is just that they have been planning this for a while, so it was done in limited numbers based on the older model.
I have a feeling it's going to sell out quickly and be a real collector's item. If anyone's in Tokyo and interested, I suggest you jump on it quickly.

Some old chrome pieces decorate on an old workhorse!
We called these old International Harvester trucks "Cornbinders (a reference honoring their heritage as descendants of the early McCormick Reapers).
One of these old beasts was the school bus I rode to the first couple years of grade school.
Seemed like an old friend I stumbled across where it was a relic left in an old farmer's lot.
Just a small salute of honor being shown here...
Angky
PS: This probably should have been entered as B&W; the old truck was actually a very faded-out rust red, but I made it B&W to express a bit of mood about a nostalgic find.

Just another push for getting something more rewarding than kit zooms. This is with the SMC Takumar 55mm f2 @f8 on the K01 with about 12mm of extension and diffuse flash. Uncropped.
Had a quick look on EB and you should be able to land one for US$50.
Still not a macro lens and not reversed which optimises it for closer macros than these.

The simple way is to grab a cheap 2x teleconverter with A -series contracts and remove the glass elements.
However… extension tubes are only one of the ways to approach macro. Using add-on high quality Close up lenses (filters) to the front of the lenses preserves all function and can be higher quality.

The show had a lot of classic Bel Aires including a couple of very nice Nomads. I really like photographing the interiors of these cars, they are very cool looking.

amongst the Mustangs. :) I mixed in a few of these from the car show last year since I didn't get enough Mustang shots this year. I saw several of the same cars this year, but it is not easy to get shots with all of the people looking at them.
Surprisingly there were not many older model Mustangs at the show.

Great series, buddy! I particularly like the second-to-last shot of the '65 or '66 red Mustang - my favorite Mustang of all (since I got one in '64)! I also notice the red Porsche 356 sitting next to it. :)
