The latest result of my latest affliction: Apparently one of the rare birds, an Asahi Pentax "K,' complete with the Auto Takumar 55/1.8 in "Zebra" trim.

A Rolleiflex a friend has graciously let me borrow for the last year almost. I really need to get my scanning rig set up to accommodate medium format.

Just found this sigma widerama 18mm in FD mount. The aperture blades were stuck and there was some haze on the lens elements. After opening it up and cleaning the insides things started working again. I've tested it on the Z6 and it looks promising. Now I'll be able to occasionaly use it on the canon film bodies to replace my damaged canon FD 17mm lens. (good luck trying to find extreme wide-angle lenses in FD mount for a reasonable price )

My XD-s with my grandfather's 135/3.5 and a Vivitar 285HV given to me by a friend. Shot on my Minolta a9 with 50/1.4 on FP4. Interestingly, the a9 missed focus despite me selecting the center zone for focus. I guess I didn't have enough ambient light for the AF to do its thing. Looking back I should have manually focused.

My newest film camera... received for my birthday...

Square format, shoots transparencies on a roll a little smaller than 35mm... but only 3 frames per roll...

It came with two rolls (one is in it) and even included a wrist strap...

More cameras should come as build-it-yourself kits; it's very therapeutic :)

Recently acquired Nikon N90s with Nikon 80-200mm F2.8 ED lens. The camera was $38 dollars in excellent condition and the lens cost me $100 from a friend.

Thoughts on Pentax LX

Absolutely true. The LX was pro grade compared to anything at the time and Pentax did advertise it as such, but it didn't have the family history of the Nikon F3 which was released at about the same time, with the consequence of not having much cred in pro circles.
In 1980 when both cameras were released, Nikon was able to tout the F3 as a continuance of 3 decades of making pro grade 35mm cameras, while all Pentax was able to say is look kids after 3 decades we've finally made a camera that has a pro feature set.
As good as it was, it wasn't able to pull the pro market it's way. Nikon had it sewn up by that time. The LX customer was either already waist deep into Pentax and the LX was a major upgrade over the next camera down, which at that time was the MX or a dentist just starting his practice who wasn't in Leica's income bracket yet.

You can probably count on one hand with mittens on the number of working pros that moved from Nikon to Pentax. I happen to be one of those two (yes, a bit of hyperbole never hurt anyone).

What's better than a single Minolta SRT?........3 of course! All working and meters too. I've ordered some light seals for a couple of the cameras and plan on removing the top covers to clean out the viewfinders. I've gotten pretty adept to that job lately.

Per the multitude of forum helpers here, I bought a Pentax MX and a M 50mm f/1.7 lens from KEH. Both look new and unused but were Bargain rated.

They have arrived.

Installed batteries (5 times to get + side up); set aperture to f/8 and shutter speed ton125.
Went out to try the old kit.

Took ten shots and all worked perfectly. No problem with focus or light meter.

We shall see after having this roll finished and developed, but I am geeked and happy.

This is going to be FUN!

Well yes I agree with you as well, i've got loads of "old" and weird lenses and they are fun and sometimes amazingly good. I use "c" mount lenses on my nikon 1 system and just about any other mount with adapters on the Z6 wich is bliss to use with manual lenses because of it's short index distance just about anything can be adapted and focussed to infinity. But TT artisans and the like now offer a good alternatives for people who don't want to meddle with old lenses and the problems they sometimes give. The hype on some of these old lenses made them often to expensive for what they are worth. The trouble with fogged elements in my old summitars and canon rangefinder lenses made me switch a few of them to the offerings of TT artisans, 7 artisans and voigtlander for affordable and usable lenses.
Here's my M4 with the 7 artisans 50mm 1.1 , voigtlander 35 1.4 and the elmarit 90 2.8 fun to use and not that expensive if it would have been all leitz glass.

Here it is, still on the XM. The XM is probably one of the most difficult cameras to find spares for, I've only got a few focussing screens for it, no spare prisms or finders. (i don't like minolta's)

My beginner setup

Hello

I'm starting out in photography.
I'm 42 years old and during my life the only experience I've had with photography was using my cell phone.
Now my life has stabilized a little and I have dedicated part of my time to Music (I'm a guitarist and pianist), motorcycles and now I'm learning photography. I decided to start with analogue photography to also control my anxiety. I'm liking everything so far.
This is the setup I am using at the moment. Any suggestions for new lenses and other accessories are welcome.

Thanks!

I just picked up this Canon 50mm F1.8 at an antique store for $4 dollars. All I did was clean it up after it had all sorts of foam dirt from the lens pouch. The glass is clean and clear and it works great!

After almost 20 years of no film cameras, these two beauties arrived this week:

Asahi Pentax "AP"

And its contemporary, the Takumar 58mm f2.0

Certain bad influences (you know who you are) put me on the search for the Takumar, but the combination was a fortunate find. Fresh from Japan, in remarkable condition. I guess I need to go buy some film...
