On our first trip to California and we stayed at a wonderful waterfront hotel with a grand view of the Midway Museum. I used every trick I knew to mitigate the reflection from our 9th floor hall window to grab hundreds of night shots. This one meant the most to us as my father-in-law served on a carrier very much like this one. We visited the ship the next morning before catching our trains home.

John,
I loved my MZ-S. It was solid and powerful. I could shoot all day at a dressage event and the camera worked in rain, mud, dust, and blistering sun. I ran out of steam long before my camera did. I wish I had know you were looking. I have no use for my MZ-S other than nostalgia.

yea, I'm feelin' ya. Choosing Fuji, AGFA, or Kodak, and picking speed and type of film has been swapped for software. I'll be spending a bit of time working around the digital darkroom.

Favorite thing about this is the purple center. It feels like an optical illusion. When I stare at it, the image seems to zoom in.

Is that a chain link fence in the background... the lines are a nice contrast to the curves. Very nice use of DoF.

What's the lighting and backdrop? Was this in studio or in the field?
Thanks,

Thanks, I was perusing for advice as my wife and I head to vacation. I was seeing mixed results with my K-70 and was beginning to wonder about birds. I've had some success with birds, but it's not easy and not my primary objective. Your response was clear, concise, and very helpful.

I shot the Rolex Kentucky 3 day a few years back, I got some great mentoring from a Adam Jones while standing outside the jumping arena on day 3. He and I spoke for quite some time. Too bad he's a Canon Pro, but he was definitely not a snob.

Looking forward to participating here. I'm looking for a 300 prime, I'm currently working a Sigma 100-400mm from the old film days. Worked great for horses outdoors, but was a tad shy on the open end for indoor arenas. Of course now I don't need to worry about grainy film, it might work...dunno.

Something about that first photo, the green light, makes that image.

So happy to see this. I just pulled my prime 50 out of mothballs last weekend. It's like I have a new toy all over again.

So, I'm Clydesdalecoop. Two reasons, in track we field athletes would run at least one relay or one set of hurdles for fun. We called them Clydesdale events, mostly because fatman's relay seems less savory. The second reason is I adapted to equine photography because my wife was riding at the time. Long and short, I bought my first Pentax a long time ago, started buying glass and never looked back. But a few years after I bought the MZ-S the world went digital, and we were tight on money. Fast forward to 2019 and an influx of cash specifically pointed at cameras and bikes was building...2020, well crap, cash rededicated to surviving. 2021 finally came around, and now I donate plasma to fund my photo and cycling addictions.
