Indeed. You do it in constant style month after month with different lenses which make your monthly albums very good lens test database. Also I have bought a lens based on your month with it and I got exactly the kind of lens I expected. So yeah, if considering whether to get some lens or not, it's worth to check if Dave has shot it

Hey there, Single In sibs!
I have recently received a windfall of medium format goodness. Expect some (hopefully) more reliable contributions in upcoming months....

Have fun and enjoy the darkness - my most beautiful night sky shot ever was a spontaneous single exposure with the slow Sigma 8-16mm on the KP, on a business trip weekend off. None of my planned, carefully exposed, filtered, stacked, tracked and blended other night skies with much more suitable equipment come even close. Reason: It's been taken in your corner of the world (closer to Gary though).

Try film! Its a whole new obsession. I have a Pentax MX for everyday shooting but my favourites are two TLRs, a Yashica mat and a 1946 Zeiss ikoflex. I develop (mono) in my kitchen and scan the negs with a macro lens. Its the complete opposite to pointing and shooting. There is no pixel peeping, its film, no pixels lol, so everything comes down to exposure, composition and the character of the film (things non photographers see). Each film has different characteristics (light/shadow detail, grain structure)and these can be further impacted or manipulated by the characteristics of different developers. I am far less obsessed by the end result, its all about the making, taking and baking :) there is also a mindfulness aspect in both shooting and developing, you can't rush it. Initially, because of the learning curve, film took over but things are levelling out and I think I am a better photographer than I was, purely because it has forced me to stop and think :)
Much like doing a sic series with Ms and Takumars :)

OMG I actually asked someone today if I could take his picture!! O_O
- Only the second time ever that I’ve asked that of a stranger.
Turned out well. Nice cheerful guy, name of Khalil. Blessed me repeatedly when he asked what I do and I told him I’m a doctor.
Feels bad/funny though: I was walking along thinking about the monochrome theme day and then I spy this black guy in bright bright white thobe and a black jacket. Damn I want to take his picture, I thought as I walked away…
Then I decided no! I would go and ask him.
But not mention monochrome theme day…
Worked out well anyhow, and was a nice interaction to boot.

I have to say this comment is on point in more than one way.
Commenting as time and circumstance permits - and duly noting and appreciating scarcity of the respectful and constructive sort that inhabits the Single In challenge group.

OK. I haven't stuck to the letter of the challenge this month but I can't feel enthusiastic about a lens I know to be wrong. The Rikenon had aberrations coming out of its ears, the chinon is decentered, which is a real shame, and the soligor is pretty poor. In each case I have stuck with the 28mm f2.8 manual lens and I would like to finish the month, albeit with my fourth lens, a tokina RMC 28mm f2.8. If any of you feel I am stretching things too far I am happy to drop out and come back for TakuMarch. If you are OK with it I will finish off with the tokina :)

This sounds fantastic to me! I typically just shoot to my heart's content, process the following morning and post one of those crop. Your idea for 3 shots a day is a fun one, almost filmic in its approach!

I think people have done so, that they shoot a roll per week, or some other spesific time, and then post the shots.

That's what I've been doing since I joined this challenge, rather tentatively, in 2017. It's a great way of learning the good and bad points of the lens. It also inspires you to see the world in different ways so that you can apply your own style to the view the lens gives you.
And, of course, it's great fun.

Part of the fun is figuring the real names, at least it is for me.
Glad to hear you are enjoying it, by the end of the month you'll have a better idea of how well that lens and camera combo performs.
