In the US you can get a driver's license at 16. The details vary from state to state, but I think in most if not all, you can get a farmer's permit at 15. Usually that means you can drive on roads within some distance of your farm while on farm business. In reality, I never heard of a policeman checking what business you were doing or how far from home you were.
I understand things are a bit more stringent in Europe. Our high school would get foreign exchange students from Germany, and one of their priorities was to get a driver's license here, which could be transferred back to Germany.

Yep, I was thinking I needed to get back on PF.
I was taking a little bit of a risk with the category, but I like the results! Barondla really captured the theme, Bart has some nice composition, Jacamar has a gritty street scene. But Titia's 2nd image just made me laugh out loud, and I grew up on a sheep farm, so that puts it over the edge for me. I declare Titia the winner for March!

Nice I think that's a sphinx moth, sometimes called a hawk moth. There are many species in that family, but that's as good as I can get.

Nice work. You may have seen in other threads I've dabbled with bird photography as well, on our backyard feeder, and catching them at the right time is tough.

Interesting. I'm a little confused by M0, supposedly for power management, and CPU for battery management, each on its own MCU? I would think a Cortex M0 would be more than enough for power and battery, if they are indeed different things.
How many MCUs does the camera have? Has somebody done a physical teardown of one of them?

If you go far enough back, they weren't. My friend's mom said she got her driver's license by walking over to the post office and paying them a quarter. That might've been about WWII.

Welcome to contest #192. There are a lot of good things to say about simplicity and a clean form, but that's not the world most of us live in. Let's go the other way and see some unorganized clutter!
Rules:
1. Always have fun!
2. Cameras:
No cameras with sensors larger than 1" (some exceptions below).
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras (some exceptions below).
No (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.
Cameras permitted:
Mobile phones, tablets, small sensor toy cameras.
Pentax Q, Nikon 1, Ricoh GR, any 110 film, 35mm point and shoots from the 1980s/90s (e.g. Pentax PC35AF etc.)
Cameras you can take with you in a coat pocket.
ANY CAMERA BRAND ALLOWED.
3. Entries will close March 31, 2024 midnight CST.
4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.
5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.
6. No restrictions on when the entries were taken.
7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.
8. Enter up to three images, however you may change your entries as many times as you like up to the contest ending.
Thanks for participating,

This was taken with a Nikon 1, since I traveled with carry-on only, and my Pentax wouldn't fit. Didn't expect I could use this photo at Pentax Forums :) |

Hello Ben. I pass thru Chippewa Falls every year on my pilgrimage back to my home country in MN.
Looks like you've got some big fields you work with there. For the wide shots, you might want to stand on some farm equipment or bed of a pickup truck to get a longer perspective. Put the horizon line in the top half of the picture. Something to try anyway.

I'm looking at getting another car, only have 49K miles on my 2015 Mazda 3, with manual transmission, but after 8 years it's time for a change. If we had talked earlier, maybe we could've worked out a deal, although it's a heckuva long way to Magic City from here.
I'm thinking of a PHEV, specifically the Kia Niro. 33 miles on EV only, and normal gasoline hybrid for my long trips. They don't make the C-Max PHEV anymore, or I would consider that. I don't want a big SUV, so that limits my choices for a PHEV. There's also the Prius Prime, I used to have a Prius. The latest model looks cool, has better numbers than the Niro, but it is pretty small, and visibility out (particularly to the back) is limited.

I've been on Flickr 10 years, and have 414 pictures. There was a period of 3 or 4 years where I probably didn't post anything.
It has a social aspect to it? I'm a member of several groups, and pretty much all of them the last discussion post was at least 4 years ago. (But new photos are added regularly). I must be doing something wrong.

You might also like "How to keep your Volkswagen alive" by John Muir (not that John Muir). It's 70% repair manual, 30% entertainment, 0% AI. Illustrations are hand-drawn. Also, it covers the Ghia.

I've thought about getting a first-gen Insight (with the back wheel covers) and storing it. It's an unusual car that could be a collector's item someday.

Yeah, being an environmental person, this isn't the vehicle for me. But you did useful things with it, it has served a useful life. What I don't like are the gigantic suburban assault vehicles (SUVs) that are only used to take the owner to the grocery store or their white collar job. They'd be lucky to ever transport an end table from Pottery Barn.
The green mantra is reduce-reuse-recycle, in that order. Reduce means buy something once, and keep it operational, don't just throw it away. You are definitely doing that.
