Wanted - Acquired: D-BG8 Battery Grip - K-3 Mark iii

After having battery grips on my K10D, K-3 Mark ii, and my K-1 Mark ii I've grown used to the girth, and sideways handling of a grip. I got those battery grips for less than $100 each ($90, $65, $88 respectively). The D-BG8 however is maddeningly expensive (especially for what they are - an extension cable for the pins in the bottom of the camera).

The least expensive D-BG8 I have found is for $169 (used - in "good" condition). Luckily it is a silver one, and since the K-3 Mark iii I ordered is also silver, that would be very shchnazzy.

I REALLY wish they'd a let the D-BG5 work on the Mark iii (Works on the K-3 and K-3 Mark ii just fine).

Money is stupid :)

Will we see a K1 Mark 3?

I'm crossing my fingers that they make a K1 Mk iii and include a few things that I envy in other manufacturers without giving up the things that make the K1 Mk ii my choice (picked it over the K3 Mk iii because built in GPS and not much more). Keep the price sub $2.5k, improve the subpar autofocus, keep the same battery grip, improve high ISO noise reduction, moon-lander touchscreen (pick focus points, adjust key settings, turn off touch sensitivity for bad weather or not in use.. etc), and get 4K (or 8K) video in there!

* New/Improvements:
Autofocus improvements
4K (or 8K Video)
Touch Screen
Improve high ISO noise reduction

* Keep:
Same battery grip
Accessory lights
GPS
External switches, knobs, and buttons
Weather sealing
Ergonomics (seriously, this and the K3 feel absolutely perfect in the hand)

* Toss:
Nothing, just improve what's there, and update the technology that's available

Wandering around Main St in Pocatello Idaho with my girlfriend after watching a play (Nighttime city is my favorite). I visit Poctello a few times a year to visit with my mother. They've got a nice "old town" area of Pocatello, and they've kept many of their neon signs in good repair. I love sneaking a few photos every time I visit.

I've found a lot of lenses, and at a reasonable price on Etsy believe it or not. Mercari on occasion, and of course the reliable places like KEH, used section of B&H, UsedPhotoPro, MPB, Used gear on Adorama, and sometimes I'll check eBay (I always get the ick feeling on ebay - it's been taken over by businesses since the early 2010's).

Of course, our very own Pentax Marketplace has a good deal on occasion (I bought a nice all manual 28mm lens for my K3 Mk ii on our Marketplace once a couple years ago (it was my favorite lens, but I lost it while hiking). Most of the gear is out of my price range).

The big 3 (KEH, B&H, and Adorama) have the best quality control of used gear probably. I very rarely expect any used gear I order to be "like new" even when it says so. I'm generally broke (Too many hobbies) so price is king for me. I've got an affinity for old glass though, so I'm always ordering some cheap JCPenny manual lens I find, or a couple years ago I found a Kalimar 500mm fixed f8 aperture monster lens (it was only $19 and takes pretty okay images). The one thing that's almost unanimously true is that even in old glass, the faster the lens, the higher the price. A manual 50mm f1.2 is still a LOT more spendy than a manual 50mm f2 lens.

Oh and you can "sometimes" find a Russian lens on occasion that fits with an adapter., (most are M42) They're fun to mess with (Some are WAY overpriced so you've got to be patient). I've got two 55mm lenses (different eras and specs - 8-leaf and a 5-leaf iris). They can be difficult to use, but when I catch a break, the sharpness and Bokeh is amazing (like blurry circles and streaks with all the color intact).

You're very correct. All of my ASP-C spacific lenses (both Sigma lenses, and my Pentax 28-200) crop down to a "tube" when used on my K1 ii. I ended up dragging my girlfriend around this weekend to take pictures. I showed her the basics of the K3 ii (eg: switched it to auto everything, and set her loose), stuck on the Sigma 18-200 for her (I knew she was going to want to zoom around and hammer down w/out worrying about settings) and away we went. I had my 24-40 on my K1 ii and it did "well". That lens just feels "foggy" on sunny days (w/or with out filters).

One thing I am getting used to in a hurry is how quickly the K1 ii can tell me the lens is focused (manual focus lenses). I know the K1 ii is NOT famous for the quick focus capabilities, but compared to my old Nikon, and my K3 ii it is lightning fast.

The weight of the camera with a big old glass filled lens is also "admirable" to say the least. Me and my girlfriend talked quite a bit while driving home about how to make a strap/connection/mount for my camera when hiking. She's a seamstress, I'm a DIY everything'er, and we both have a mind for quack off the wall ideas. So I think mixing my metal welding skills, 3D printer hackery, and Pinterest mashup prowess with her sewing, stitching, surging, and needle bafoonery we can come up with something. My backpack's strap hanger for my K3 ii is manageable, it just doesn't work well with this bar bell of a camera hanging off of it.

I think I'll probably go to a center chest mounted clamp/hanger/sling thing. I don't like when my cameras dangle dangle (tic tok song) because it never fails that one of my hiking poles will thwack it, or I'll drag it across some rocks, or it'll find a bone and bounce off of it until I'm just shy of bleeding out.

That's neither here nor there. I'm just tickled pink with the new body, can't wait to get my solar panel bids finished so I can re-budget my income, and get to ordering some FF glass for my new body (and in-turn get back into the mountains, and work off some of the winter layer of bacon grease I've stacked up on my body).

Tomorrow night's plans are to try and finally get Astrotracking figured out, shoot a few long exposure landscapes of the city from a little bit up on the Wasatch Front (can't go too high because feet and feet of SNOW).

Maybe I'll find an abandoned camera bag full of FF lenses and what nots with a note that says "So long and thanks for all the fish" ~ Douglass Adams.

@mikesbike : I've been using my Tokina AT-X 24-40 f2.8-? it's a nice old lens (I think it's a mid 90's lens if memory serves). No auto-focus, but shooting in Aperture Priority is nice enough for me (I can focus so much better on the K1 ii than I could on my K3 ii).. I think it may end up living on my camera more than most others until I get caught back up and can swing the DFA (I'll look harder at the 28-105 before pull that trigger).

I walked around work today and took a few images but it was a sunny day, still 8-12" snow on the ground and I just couldn't keep my eyes open (so dang bright). Took a dozen pictures or so, used the handy dandy WiFi to load the files to my phone, edited them a little bit with Snapspeed. I've never messed with the compinsation settings on any of my cameras, but I'm finding that I almost always adjust the exact same things first. Contrast, Saturation, and Exposer (not in that order). I need to spend some time setting those up in the camera so it saves me a little work in post.

Oh, and WR isn't too big of a deal to me yet. The camera has great weather and dust resistance, and I'm pretty careful about when and where I crack open the SD card, Battery, or pop off a lens. Since it is Friday, I hope that I'm not too lazy tomorrow and I can get out and wonder round with my finger wearing out the shutter button.

I'm attaching a couple images from today (Cat pic was an old 50mm all manual before I left for work), the rest are Tokina. I couldn't email them to my work w/out smashing the jpgs way down so these aren't as clean as the original images.

@mikesbike : Indeed, that Pentax FE 28-200 is not my favorite, but it was the most handy so I snatched it up on my way out the door. My favorite lens in my collection is my Sigma DC 17-70 (My Sigma 18-200 is fine, just not very fast). When I let my kids borrow my K10D they get the FA lens :). Doubt highly I'll ever be able to justify to myself the prices that DFA lenses go for new. I've already been shopping used, but jebus molasus custard they're still a deep pocket owner's reality. My pocket lint infested trouser keepers aren't going to be deep enough for those lenses any time soon.

@UncleVanya : I've got nothing against used lenses (or cameras, or gear). This K1 Mk ii is the first time I've purchased new anything since getting back into photography in 2020. The only camera I purchased that arrived unhappy was my first forey back into photography (in 2020) and that was the *ist. Kind of glad that one was a failure, because I sent it back and got a K100D Super and never looked back. I honestly think the issue was a Pentax lens that I've got. I used that lens on my K10D and it blanked for a few days just like the *ist did. I still have that lens, but it spends its days on my "look at me" shelf with some of the other "will cause drinking problems" lenses (like a Helios-44 that's fussy about where it thinks the f-stop needs to hang out), and a 500mm f/8 that can't seem to look around with out seeing rainbows around shinny objects.

I have drug out my old glass to play with on the K1 too (most are 70s-80s and a couple are even automatic aperture capable!).

I've used these on my K-3 Mk ii for a few years (Can't wait to update my opinions about them on the FF K-1).

Kalimar 500mm f/8.0 (whoah lotta rainbows around shinny things - eg: chrome, glass edges, or my girlfriend's eyes (awww!) - Probably better on the K1).
Kalimar 135mm f2.8 (Very nice lens - feels like a zoom on the K3)
Kalimar 50mm f/1.7 (Who doesn't love a quick 50? This one works well on the K3, can't wait to see it on the K1 so it isn't being a 100mm equivalent)
Tokina AT-X 24-40mm f/3.5-5.6 (Pretty nice lens, just wish it'd open up more "What's wrong buddy" I guess 3.5 isn't fast enough for me)
Coastar 28mm f2.8 (don't crank it open, and it's good - Better on the K1, and was actually the 1st lens I used for the first image)
GLC Series 28mm f2.8 (bout the same as the Coastar - that I got to replace this one)
Tamron 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 (nothing to write home about - Adequate but loose some light, and it's too slow)
Sigma DC Macro 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 (my favorite - good ole' all-a-rounder - Hope it plays nice on the K-1)
Sigma DC 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 (not too shabby, but it's slow, and I don't use much more than 80-100mm worth of it on the norm).

Guess I'm a Kalimar and Sigma fan too ;) (C'mon Sigma, make more glass for Pentax boxes!).

I accepted a bid to plop solar on my house today, so I may be where I'm at with gear until I get the new budget worked out. It was between solar on my 114 year old house or a 2024 Ford Bronco, they're basically the same price hahahah.

I attached the 3rd image I took with my new camera (Using the Coastar 28mm). I couldn't get the unedited one to upload (It's in DNG format still, so --- too big). The DNG (original) is too dark and seems kind of flat, but it is much better than it'd have been on my K3. I just guessed on the settings and took a few shots. Really happy happy with this camera.

Whoop!

FedEx wandered on up to my porch about 20 minutes before I had to begrudgingly meander off to work for the night.

Why not start with your old 100% manual $19 lens on your new $1800 camera? Well, I "know" it'll cover the FF sensor, and I have used it for a few years on my K3 Mark ii, so I kind of know it's defects (yes, delaminated front glass, a few dings and dents, the images come out like absolute garbage if you use it "wide open", but it's smooth, and the images are acceptable from f5.6 down).

I am at work, so no way to offload the images at the moment, but you can bet your aunt Sally's smelly socks I'll be processing images tonight after work (ArcoLinux with Darktable in the house!).

From what I've seen using this "Coastar" lens around our building, is that I can indeed go wide open with this camera and it doesn't appear to fall apart at the edges of things (hopefully in processes it won't be as trashy as it was on an ASP-C sensor - going all rainbows and glitter at the sharp edges of leaves, buildings, details, and little flower hopping Bee's butts).

I brought my Sigma flash along to work tonight so I can get that side of the hobby figured out while I'm at work. Flashes and me have never gotten along unless I was using them for fill.

Thanks for the lens ideas @mikesbike I've loaded a few different wish lists with some DFA goodies (Now I need winning Lotto numbers).

@UnvleVanya I'm regretfully aware that all of my "newer" lenses are ASP-C lenses. I've got quite a few old glass that will fulfill my FF sensor needs (I enjoy shooting manual on occasion, but some of my old lenses are A (Automatic Aperture) so I can let the camera record my f-stop selection once in a while). I seem to always struggle with focus on my old lenses, but this K1 lets me zoom in and see what's clear and what's not. I'm just so excited to go run around town and shoot stuff! (if this was a gun club, that'd have a completely different meaning ;) ).

Thanks @mikesbike, I have been looking at that 28-105 DFA lens. It will be sometime this summer before I can swing a better lens (forking up a kidney for solar on my house currently). My mind still has a hard time weeding out my "old" knowledge where a 28mm lens on my 35mm was pretty wide. On my K3 ii it's basically what my 50 or 55mm was on my Nikormat back in the late 70's before I stole my dad's Pentax and started wearing it out (I have no idea how many times I oggered in on my BMX bike with that Pentax, but it always just worked).

Most of my photography has been while hiking, or walking around this city (not very big, but there are some nice old buildings, and "interesting" people coming and going from some of the shady areas of town). My Sigma 17-70 lens seems to cover 99% of my picture taking participations. That is on my K3 ii, so I think it might be a little "wide" on the K1. Either way, cannot wait to see.

I don't normally use JPEG on my cameras. Once in a while, I'll have the RAW handed of to one SD card and JPEG to the other, but I can't remember ever pulling the JPEGS off. Usually, I just have the video on one card and RAW on the other. I also enjoy the processing "process", so RAW is part of the fun for me (Probably from my days sneaking into the photography class dark room in college with "ole what's her name" and "developing" images after hours). I'm old now, so any "developing" going on usually involves a glass of wine, some 90's grunge, and my bifocals slid down my nose so I can see the monitor better.

I do appreciate the suggestions on leses. I've got B&H open on the other tab, that DFA 28-105 is running a few pennies under $400. It'll be a few before I can let myself go that much for a lens, but it is in my wish list (I can hardly ever find them used, but that doesn't mean I'm not always scrounging around).

I pulled the trigger last night and ordered a K1 Mark ii . I struggled for a few days because I love my K3 Mark ii but I really wanted a new camera to add to my "I didn't need to get that" list. What finally made me pick the K1 Mark ii over the K3 Mark iii was the built in GPS. Don't get me wrong, the K3's Bluetooth had me agonizing over it, but as much as I've used the GPS in my K3 Mark ii I don't think I would be happy with out it. When I've been out on a few good hikes or trips, then took a day or two before I dug in and started to post process the images, the GPS data would backfill me in about where I was for that situation (cuz, I'm old, and I forget stuff ("stuff" used in place of the word I would use in real life) ).

The camera should be here Wednesday and I'm pretty excited to get my hands on my first brand new Pentax ever (My D ist*, K100D Super, K10D, and K3 mk iii were all used off KEH or Ebay). I'm really happy that my first brand new never used Pentax is also one of the top of the line units. I've got a couple handfuls of older glass, and 3 or 4 good enthusiast level lenses that should work fine on the full frame, but some day I hope there's a D FA* lens out there with my name on it (I'd love to get my hands on an HD Pentax-D FA* 50mm F1.4 SDM AW for hiking, and an HD Pentax-D FA 21mm F2.4 ED Limited CD WR for all the things (hiking, astrophotography, and street photography).

My go-to daily body and lens for the last year has been my K3 mk ii, and a Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC Macro (A Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC is always in my bag for when I need longer legs, with my trusty, crusty old Coastar 28mm f/2.8 lens is in there for when I feel like going manual and re-learning why I loved taking pictures in the first place).

We got a fresh 8" of snow last night, and it is snowing sideways now, so I think going on a hike might be a week or three out (because I'm old, and cold hurts). Until then, I think I'm going to terrorize my cats and girlfriend while I learn how to use my new to me Sigma EF-530 DG Super flash paired to my new K1. :)

P.S.
I meant to say "Then there were five" because this will be the 5th camera in my stash.

Thank you for the link and observations on it (I rarely use them too, but it's mainly because I've never liked the on-board flip up flash).

I played with my Sigma FE-530 DG Super a little bit last night. It came with all the original parts, box, instructions, etc.... I was very impressed ($82 US Shipped) ... Uses 4xAAA batteries...

Watching YouTube videos now to get an idea of how to actually use it for more than "POP! yeaeeee, everyone is shinny and washed out"! Last time I used a flash was on my Nikkormat (circa 1977 camera I was using in the early 80's before I was introduced to Pentax).

Thanks to everyone for your input, so much of it is still over my head, but I look forward to brushing up and deciphering what you all told me after I see how this flash works, and doesn't work.

(P.S. I HIGHLY suggest a battery grip if you take portrait and landscape images. The camera feels better in portrait, than landscape now. I think it's just cuz the grip is bigger (I might not be so eager to keep it on there after a few hikes :) ).

Thanks all, so much good info, I did searches on here, and found next to nothing. You guys are wonderful.

I ended up snagging a "Sigma EF-530 DG Super" from "UsedPhotoPro" (found accidently).

I read up on it in the forums here and it may have some issues with my K-3 ii, but my K100D Super, and K10D will get along with it very well out of the box. Most of the things I read about were circa 2015, so maybe after the release of K-3 ii and its firmware up date to 1.12 it'll work. We'll see :)

If it doesn't work, I'll just learn what I like and don't about it's options, and look for my next flash from there. (I hike a LOT at night, so I'd love to learn what I need to do some wireless flash help for some of the dark trails I find - here in Utah up in the Wasatch mountains).

Cheers,
~me

Old flash new flash what's the issue?

Hello all,

I've been beating my head against the proverbial tree trying to figure out a couple things.

1. Why are "new" flashes so friggin' expensive?
2. What do I need to do in order to get an old "affordable" flash to work on my DSLR (K100D Super, K10D, or my K-3 ii).

I was talking to my dad (He's an old photography hobbyist .. circa Petri camera days). I told him new flashes (on camera/hotshoe flash) were in the $200 and up price range. You'd think I stuck a 9V battery on his tongue.

I've seen the term "Adapter" here and there, but can't find what it is, where to start looking for it, and what to look for. I've also wondered how a flash can hurt my new'er camera's private bits when a flash is normally triggered, not the other way around (The camera triggers the flash, the flash doesn't blast its 400 volts back at the camera, or does it?).

Any help is appreciated, I'm shopping for a relatively simple flash setup (I've always hated flash photography because .. I suck at it, always have). I would like to start playing around with a hot-shoe flash, then move to maybe a simple slave flash setup to play with portraits and the like for my family and friends (not a business venture in any way shape or form, I've ruined many hobbies by turning them into money).

Welcome, enjoy, and everyone in PentaxForums has been really helpful, understanding, and they are pretty good at deciphering broken English or proper English with misspelled words :). {Pointing at myself}

Most recently I snatch up a K-3 ii for under $500 with 5300 shutter actions on it. Arrival was Feb 14th, love at first sight. (I assume they used it for video). Bought it to replace my K10D (not replace, maybe "supplement"?).

In the mail is a Sigma DC Macro 17-70mm lens (I can NOT wait!). It's coming from Japan, so I'll be surprised if it's here before March.

I'm always poking around for interesting deals in the Marketplace here in the Forums, eBay, KEH, Etsy, local classifieds, and on occasion I have my girlfriend root around FB Marketplace for me (I got rid of FB a couple years ago). Love me the wide view classics for their price vs quality and the occasional great deal when there's an estate sale or an angered spouse that's "getting rid of everything!" (My ex did that to me with some classic car motors and such - and I divorced her hahahah ).

WOW, this' an oldie :)

I got a Coastar 28mm off eBay over the summer (Trying to replace my beloved Kalimar 28mm) and was immediately disappointed. LOTS of aberrations and blur wide open (where I normally take my images).

I asked for some advice in the forums here, and found that if I close it up a bunch (f8 or so), it will take relatively sharp images, but I don't like taking images that slow.

It is a good looking lens, so the comment up there ^ about it being a good drink holder wasn't far off :) . I'll keep using it, but only on very sunny days and my ISO above 400.

Thank you all for your advice. I recently bought a 24-40 lens (that's friggin' awesome), and coming next week is a K-3 ii (5300 clicks). C'mon Spring, it's time to get back in the mountains and steal light rays!

I'm really happy to see I'm not the only person that really struggled with choosing between the K-70 and K-3 ii (The KP had be for a while, but I just couldn't find one as inexpensive as the 70 or 3 ii.

I ended up going with the K-3 ii because of the GPS. I take the majority of my images while hiking, and I look forward to being able to see where I was when I fired off the pictures.

It was a really REALLY hard choice though. The K-3 ii is heavier, so hiking with it may make me wish I'd sucked it up and got the K-70, but the K-3 ii feels SO good in my hand.

I'm moving up from a K10D so it will be a HUGE jump for me, I can't wait (6 more days for the K-3 ii I ordered to arrive).

Hello :),

Yes I do hike with a sling bag with camera insert style dividers (holds an extra lens, battery, remotes, little cleaning kit, water, head lamp, gloves, SD card, and snacks). I can put my camera in there (remove the water bottle) but I want my camera handy in an instant, not behind a zippered flap.

(Am looking a the links though, always up for new "stuff" :) ).

I felt bad last night, I took the majority of my pictures with my Pixel 4 because I wasn't in the mood to unstrap my tripod from the bottom of my bag (night photos). I eventually did, just for my Blog, but my phone does a really good job with Night Mode (kind of better than my camera because I SUUUUUCK at getting focus perfect in the dark).

I got a couple clips that I'm going to try with a regular backpack when I find one to hike with. I want a good back that's got EASY access to my tripod and hiking poles for this winter (cuz I'm lazy and don't want to fight the cold weather clothes, my sweaty sticky self, and the awkward deep snow trails).

Camera + Hiking

I've been hiking all simmer with my K10D (and my K100D Super before that).

The issue I'm finding is that with my normal over one shoulder, under one arm strap, my camera drifts to my side and starts hitting my hiking pole on which ever side its slid around to.

I'm on a real hard budget, and I haven't found a good clip or chest harness that is affordable.

I hike with a shoulder bag normally (camera bag, but I jeep my water, head lamps, and a few snack bars in it with my extra lens). So I don't have the two backpack straps to connect to.

I saw a clip that your camera snaps onto. It clamps to one backpack strap but at $70 on Amazon it's way too steep for my budget.

With winter coming (it's already snowed down to 5k feet, and looks like its sticking at/above 6k feet). I hike a little every day.

Thanks for any ideas.

Took this with my new (to me) Coastar Lens. It's my second "bargain" 28mm that's absolute junk (not as bad as my last one, but still, there's no clear image to be had with these lenses on a DSLR - this lens is circa 1970's.

Anyone got advice on getting these lenses to take a decent image w/out all the haze, and afterglow (Tried several different f stops, speeds, lighting, etc.. ).

My other 28mm that sucks even worse is a GLC Series Automatic 28mm f/2.8 No. 8781659 (circa 1990's).

My search for a good 'enough' 28mm for my K10D continues.

My first contact with Pentax was in the mid 80's. I ended up adopting my dad's Pentax (Not sure which one) and used it to take my high school photo class, I was the photographer for my BMX team, I took it everywhere until it slid off the top of my friends Subaru Brat and I never saw it again.

Plow forward some 20 years and I bought a Cannon, let someone use it in photography class in college, and never saw it again. Then I purchased a Nikon D40X while stationed in Japan, hated the lens to no end (really sloppy, wouldn't hold focus, manual or auto - sold it as soon as I got back to the states).

Went the cell phone camera route for a lot of years, and in July this year I bought a K100D Super and fell back in love HARD with photography. Pentax has always felt like home. The K100D Super was "fine", it did a great job at bringing out my creative juices again, but one day while using one of my newest lenses, it stopped working (28-200 Lens circa 2006 I think). I let the camera drain fully, pulled the lens, battery, and jumped on KEH to order another one. The K10D was on there for the same price, so I ordered it. The next day, my K100D Super was back in the game, so now I've got two Pentax cameras. I love(d) being in the 6 megapixel club, pushing it as far as I could, but the K10D is head and shoulders better for me than the K100D was. It just "feels" like my old Pentax. Heavy in the hand, forgiving images (except when I tried to use a basement brand 28mm, those images look like someone did them in crayola).

I hike quite a bit (daily since July), and there's nothing like having a good camera and lens around your neck to keep your eyes looking for the next unique shot. I am sure I over edit my images, but it is kind of how I like them, and since they're for me and not profit, I keep doing them like I do them. One day I'll learn how to use Darktable a little better, but for now, I just love my Pentax.

I'm happy to see a K10D club, and I hope I can squirt out some images I'm proud enough to post on here (there are a few, but I pick them apart until I don't love them anymore). My go to lens is a 50mm (Kalimar manual) mainly because it's Bokeh is amazing. I had a wonderful 28mm but it fell out of my bag on a hike and I've never seen it since. I purchased a 28mm off e-Bay but it was horrible so I'm shopping for another 28mm (maybe a 24mm) since they seem to work better for hiking (I'm not a zoom fan, I'd rather get in the bugs face and take a nice closeup).

I'm always shopping for lenses now, I need a better camera bag for hiking (I've got a shoulder bag for hiking, and a big nice backpack for everything I don't take with me), but the zippers are blowing out), and I LOVE that the K10D has some weather seals for those instant rain, blowing dust, mountain hikes out here in northern Utah. Tonight is a night hike, with tripod in hand. I can't wait to see what I can sneak out of the darkness (too smoky here to get any astrophography practice or I'd try that).

After the new year, I think I'll jump into the deep end and get the K-3 III. I really want to start playing with video, and if I start at the top of the line, I can use that camera well into my golden years.
