About the jpeg limitation you noticed, is it limitation to output jpeg only (from K3II DNG raw) or a limitation to process only the K3III jpeg (and not the K3III DNG RAW). It was not clear for me.
In the worst case I hope a (free) october update will fix the temporary profile lack.

Sorry for the shock :lol:
It's true that I'm still at neolithic age concerning development tools. till now PDCU was enough for my needs but I admit that my process is not efficient at all.
(xnview to rename my dng, PDCU to get TIFF16bit, and an obsolete PS version to adjust small things)
It's also for these reasons (to learn and to improve my practice) that I subscribed to this forum ;)

Oh! very nice tips mtkeller :):)
It enables to keep fingers in place (right thumb near info button and OK button), without the need to move up the thumb to playback button to stop instant review. Thank you !!
BTW, I found another workaround that works uniquely because it reminds me the location of the K5 playback button.
I swapped the Fx buttons LOCK and PLAYBACK, in order to be able to exit instant review with the left thumb, keeping my right thumb in place.
But I feel that your solution is more elegant and I'll try it .

however it is seems that both INFO button, "control panel" function and "instant review display mode" function do not support customization, at least in firmware v1.02.

This is a wise advice :). I have to lost my habit from the K5 where INFO button had (and has) only one role. I guess it is a part of the learning curve. ;)

Thanks for your test on K3 :) where the INFO button seems to behave as I would like (with a constant function easy to ... assimilate ).
I'm happy with the huge number of button and knobs on the K3III because It's like a HOTAS : easy to handle. The INFO button dual behavior is a small exception among them for me.

Hello everyone
after 2 weeks of life with K3 III I share here a small (and subjective) topic about INFO button ergonomic.
I love to use it to call the control panel, it is so cool to be able to customize all my favorite parameters in one and only one screen. :)
However, the INFO button is also used in INSTANT REVIEW mode to swap the photo info views.
So when I take a picture, during the 3 seconds of instant review display time, instead of calling the control panel, I swap the photo views. :confused:
And it happens a lot of times in a day.
I have to change something either in camera settings or in my way of processing, but I wanted to share with you this small issue.
How do you use the instant review display, the control panel ? how do you globally handle the settings between two immediate shoots ?
How would you workaround this ?

Hello everyone !
I have some questions about the 'clarity' and 'skin tone' parameters [ menu still image / 6 ].
But before some clarification about my settings
- I'm used to use DNG format for my raws (instead of PEF format).
- I develop my DNG with Digital Camera Utility v5.9.2
As most people I assume, I divide the parameters of a photo in 2 categories:
the focus, speed, aperture, sensibility are shoot parameters (they need to be good when you shoot the raw).
All others parameters (size, image, sharpness, filter, lens correction, ... are post-processing parameters (because they can be applied during the raw post processing)
If "Clarity" has the same meaning than in lightroom or PS, then it should be a 'post-processing' parameter.
So I expected to see the 'clarity' parameter and the 'skin tone' parameter available in Digital Camera Utility v5.9.2.
But when I process my DNG in DCU, I don't see any setting like 'clarity' or 'skin tone'.
I probably missed something :)
Do you have any clues or light on this topic please ?

Yes, I just got the K3III a week ago and spent hours to discovers tons of features and enjoy it more and more each day.
I love its higher dynamic range (than the K5), its light and cinematographic viewfinder, and also small details like in Av mode the minimum shutter speed setting.

Hello
I'm new on this website (and french) so do not hesitate to redirect my post in correct forum if I'm in the wrong place.
I would like to know if there are any plan about new K3III firmware :
- to display the user mode name on the upper line of the display.If the icons for FLASH, WIFI, BT and GPS are shifted to the upper line right, there would be enough room to display the user mode name
- to record for each user mode (or each box) the display interface color. It would be a smart and fast way to catch in what mode we are. (ie green interface for landscape user mode, pink for portrait, yellow for sport, etc).
and eventually, we it si possible to send such suggestions for future firmware update?

Hi girls and guys
I'm french Pentax user since 87 (with a SFX then a IstD, a K5 and now a K3 III).
my photography is about aiming emotion: people, travel, street and landscape photography.
my supreme being is HCB
I use only the SMC 18-55 WR for its correct quality, its small weight, and its versatility.
I fear the 20-40 would seem not enough versatile for me. I would like its aperture, quality and would stand its weight. I should try one few hours maybe.
I guess the new 16-50 2.8 PLM will be too heavy for me despite it would match all my other requierments.
before buying the K3III I hesitated for the so light panasonic G9 with a 12-60 (equiv 24-120).
but my love for OVF was stronger. and maybe this K3III is the last (affordable) reflex I 'll own.
well, I wish all a happy travel in the viewfinder countries.
