You are correct Steve. Never knew that until today.
I think best case with an X-Pro P and X1R-N would be manual exposure control. Probably no hss and no flash zoom. That probably wouldn't be so bad.
Just a question if whether the economics make sense.

If you want to re-use your old Nikon SB-24, SB-28 and SB-600 then a Godox X-Pro trigger is no use.
You would need the right combination of Cactus V6 transceivers. Read up on whether you'd need mk I or mk ii version's.
Godox triggers essentially only works with Godox flashes.
I'd suggest saving up the money and going all Godox.
If you want to re-use your old Nikon flashes get optical adaptors and accept you will have to set there power levels manually.
My two cents.

I think the market for re-using legacy flashes might have dried up.
Cactus kind of operated in two markets:
1. Re-using legacy flashes where it pretty much was the only game in town;
2. Wireless trigger (and wider system) where it competed with the likes of Godox and others.
In this second market I think it's struggled and personally I much prefer Godox (more selection of lights and triggers and also lithium ion power).
At one point I owned three V6's. Now I'm down to one V6 II.
It's a pity they couldn't get backers for their Godox AD200 equivalent but it did seem overpriced.
Hopefully some company might be able to revive them.

For people in the States, the Godox V1-P is available and a bargain. Just change the filter to Pentax and it is there.

Hi.
I have a K1 but generally I shoot with my KP because I prefer it's size and weight.
Anyway, I was doing a studio photo shoot and pulled out the K1 for a change. In this kind of setting I actually don't mind the weight so much and I really appreciated the upgraded viewfinder of the K1 in this setting. I was using the Sigma 85mm HSM so it's a heavy combo but again in this kind of setting the weights not so bad.
Once I started looking at the images in Photoshop I just noticed how incredibly sharp this setup was. Once setup using ISO 100, F4 with the K1 it is almost brutally sharp. I was quite surprised how bitingly sharp it was. This is comparing to the KP, iso 100, F8 with DA* 50-135. The K1 was almost too sharp. Not something I noticed with the KP.
Anyway, it might have persuaded me to use my K1 a bit more now. I still prefer using the KP but it is a nice reminder how good the K1 is. It's interesting to note that a lot of the new mirrorless full frames are only 24Mpx so the K1 still scores well in this regard.
The increase in resolution sure slows down the computer though.
Anyway both are fine camera's in their own different ways.

Well for me it has to be compelling feature wise or I can just continue with what I've got.
That means other than the improved viewfinder it needs more AF points and greater af point coverage. Decent buffer and battery life.
Really the most important compelling upgrades for me are said AF improvements along with better AF-C tracking.
Other than ok AF and poor video the current camera's are still good enough.

Depends. An average image sensor. More a means by Canon to get them into RF mount.

I think you can only use the Pentax flashes as slaves with no control with a Godox trigger.
If you have sufficient time to setup it will be no problem but otherwise not ideal.

Sigma 17-50 HSM F2.8. I have it and it's a great lens. Have no desire to ever upgrade it as it's so good.

I agree that the Pentaxian Facebook group seems to be a more pleasant place these days.
It is true, PF is edging to DPR type vibe these days and this is sad.

Second hand Sigma 70-200 HSM II if you can find it.
I have it and love it except for the 1.4 kilograms.

If I were you I'd go Godox if you have enough money.
I used to have a number of Cactus triggers but have got rid of them bar one V6II. I've kept this as I can then use my Pentax flash on pretty much any brand camera and still have ttl.
I don't particularly like Cactus mainly because of having to charge so many AA batteries.
If you have a two flash system it's four AA's for each flash, two AA's for each transceiver so it's 14 AA's required to be charged and ready for a two flash setup.
The lithium-ion batteries are great in the Godox setup.
You should also consider the V1 as that is available as a native Godox Pentax flash.
I have a Godox Ad200 and two Godox 850's. The 850's are manual flashes but do do hss and are still able to be controlled by the X-Pro-P trigger.

You are permitted up to 200mm maximum. The Sigma is a large lens, 1.4kg but I am prepared and always point directly at the 200mm. The bag check people aren't photographers so initially always think the lens isn't permitted.
I pretty much go every year. The appearance of DSLR or mirrorless cameras is becoming rarer and rarer. People are content with their phone camera's.

The V850II won't do pttl but will do hss (manual exposure only).

Well you can shoot in (A) mode with the FGZ560 Mark I not II if you don't want pre-flash. (A) mode is also kind of auto-exposure so its not pure manual.
There are older flashes with (A) that are likely very cheap on eBay. I have a Nikon SB-28 or SB-25 that is useful for this type of purpose and works with a K3. If you go down this path just do your research to buy the correct flash for your needs. A 2nd hand Pentax FGZ560 would be good for this as you still have a P-TTL when you need it and (A)uto-thyristor mode when you want to use that. Note the Mark II has lost (A) mode.

Sales people also like the 'easy sell' and that is Canon.
I fully understand this. If I was a salesperson it's very easy to sell a Canon to a newbie.

I've first hand experience of the waxy skin with an X-E1.
Fujifilm also apply a high contrast curve that reviewers seem to love but loses detail.
I am still not convinced about X-trans.
They are nice looking cameras though.

Get yourself a 2nd hand one for as cheap as possible and convert to screwdrive. You lose silent AF but this lens is stellar so at the right price is worth it. It's also WR.

Well, buying first generation is a bit silly if you ask me. Pay a premium to be a tester for the brand.
It took Fujifilm 3 generations to get decent autofocus.
I think some people bought into the hype, especially by the likes of Dpreview who seemed to be doing free promo's for the Nikon Z and Canon R rather than being a review sight.
