A great activity to do with the kids - and we got to meet and talk with navy vets about their experiences.

The great FA 31mm, 1/400s f/6.3 and ISO 100

This lens on the K3 III astonishes me. Look at the detail crop, the area inside the red outline with the flag.

Using an old - but super easy to manually focus! - Tamron 90mm Adaptall-2
1/800s f/8 (and be there) ISO 400

I find that ISO 400-800 on the K3 III gives a bit of a film quality?

Now I am a bit sad for the M42 lenses I have that do NOT have the switch ;-)

K3-III

Well, just a small anecdote (and maybe some small public service to relieve my embarassment).

I got a 2nd M42 adapter (the cheap Bower one) because I thought there was something wrong with my original Pentax adapter.
My SMC Tak 55/1.8 was unacceptably blurry at f/5.6 and f/8.
Well, AFTER I bought the new adapter, I found out that I had completely forgotten about the A/M switch, which in the 55 is fairly discreet.

Ha Ha.

Long story short, the lens came off the Bower one, I am lucky I caught it - and when attached back to the camera this time with the original Pentax adapter, and the A/M switch to M, at f/5.6 and f/8 the lens is as great I always knew it to be.

Feel stupid but feel happy

Adam, you made my day, thank you!!

And now I know how this happened - it started with older files that I had not erased in card #2.

Learning, learning!

Muito Obrigado!

Hello Pentaxians!

I have been visiting the forums for years, just reading the great posts, but also checking the lens database and reviews.
Had several Pentax cameras, still have my beloved Pentax MX (which I use with a SMC Tak 55/1.8, 35/3.5 - and a Pentax-M 100/2.8, and also a Carl Zeiss Jena 135/3.5 MC)
I had in the past a K20D, which I loved and used with the above lenses, but also a terrific FA 31mm, a 35mm macro (don't have it anymore :-( and a DA70mm.
Now, after the reviews about the amazing usability and optical viewfinder, a got a K3-III, and am LOVING it. What a camera!!
My fingers fall on the right places, the OVF is a blessing, I am happy again. And I'm happy I can use the FA31 and DA70 on a Pentax again.

I do a lot of plant portraits (esp. trees, bushes) and what you can call "intimate landscapes", plus my grandchildren.
For the kids, I use the 31 and 70 a lot, and I am stunned how good these lenses are on the K3-III.
For my nature work I have been using an old Tamron 90 MF Adaptall-2 - but I am thinking of getting one of the vintage 100/4 macros, just for fun.

I am humbled to join such distinguished forums!

Mike

Hi al K3-III'ans!

After enjoying the K20D as well as a terrific Pentax MX for years (still keep the latter, plus a smattering of older Taks) - I got a K3-III and I LOVE it!!!

Well Done Pentax (Ricoh)!

I can use a (real) viewfinder again!

So, an issue here - how come all of a sudden the camera jumped back a hundred or so frames, and now Lightroom is importing new images as xxxx-2, xxxy-2, and so on...

Resetting the counter would zero it, correct? What can be done, other than taking about 100 blanks? (to reach where I was before)

Tx!

Mike
