After 2 months owning the Pentax, I concur. The lens makes a huge difference in saturation and in general picture quality.
I love my K200D with my old SMC Pentax 1.4 manual lens and my super takumar 50 1.8 :) and all the other manuals i own.
My kit lens....meh, it is just not as fun as the old school manuals.

Good definition of a Pentax camera with a manual lens.

I do the same thing with my K200D. I find the range (starting point), while depressing the AF button, wait for the red AF light in the center and the beep, and then fine tune. It takes awhile but at least I am in the ball park with a manual lens.

Yes, this is actually a good idea.
For me, indoors is a bit slow with the automatic function, especially in incandescent lighting. Also, multi-shots are terribly slow for me but I have yet to experiment more.
Other than that, I LOVE this camera. Especially using my old school manual lenses, which is the reason why I went with Pentax.

In my original post I asked about the Canon Lenses. Well come to find out they are the old Ricoh lenses (I think) made by sears with the K mount on it . I used the Wikipedia to verify then just put it on. All of them work and I do not have any problems with them. I just had to set the aperture ring to Permissible in the "Custom Settings" on the K200D. I found them on this page: Pentax K mount - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Here is a photo of them:
And these are my M24 mount collection:
I have yet to shoot anything from them. I want to shoot all lenses side by side in a comparison.

I decided on the K200D for basically the same reasons. Plus, I have an old Honeywell Pentax lens I want to use. I guess I am officially a Pentax DSLR owner. :o
Yes BBear thanks for the information.

So, the K-m uses a specific lense bracket, not the K bracket to fit older lenses?

I am not sure which one to get. Is there a major drawback to the K-m? I am a novice and I am real close to buying myself a new DSLR and have narrowed everything down to Pentax.
So the K200D or the K-m?

I am new to DSLR cameras. I come from primarily P&S cameras, but I am finding that the photos are not as clear as I would like and missing the SLR look. I owned an older Pentax Optio and it was horrible. I did not let that persuade me in coming back to Pentax though. So I am about to purchase a K200d from Pentax (Primarily from a Basic SLR and price stand point). I really enjoy the fact that I can interchange lenses but I do have a question about that.
How do I know what lenses are compatible with a current Pentax K200d.
My mom has a plethora of Canon, Tamron, a super tamurac from an old Honeywell Pentax, Sears Canon...and some others. I really want to be able to use some of these older lenses. Is there anyone out there with knowledge on this subject?
Thank you,
Mike

I am in the works of buying my first DSLR and I am leaning towards the K200D for budget reasons more than anything. Costco has the body with a 200m and 55mm for 699.99. Is this a good deal?
Also, I am wondering about the image quality so more information on the color saturation issue would be nice.
