The film industry/production especially color film is fragile compared to many other consumer products. There's currently a paint shortage here in the southeast US I assume that there's no reason to assume the paint businesses don't survive, the question is can color film survive this? Ironically Fujifilm is in a better position to continue to provide film while Kodak is not but its the later who seems to be struggling to keep film production going. Interesting no?

I hope you enjoy your KP I think that's a wise step since I have seen aperture issues with the K70 that's sort of lead me in the KP direction! I just got one myself just need to figure out a combination of zooms and some limited glass. After reading this thread I think I need to trade in the screw drive da 55-300 for a 55-300 PLM though. Its not like the older da is lacking sharpness though!

Fujifilm seem to not be interested in the fact that there are people out there that still care about the analog format. Lets be honest, the money was in motion picture film, with that mostly gone there needs to be different strategies to keep film alive.

Welcome Tim I'm sort of in the same situation, just starting out with some Pentax gear. Hopefully acquire a KP soon and some limited lenses. Did use a k20d for some time before selling it.

When there's not enough competition the price goes up, and economy of scale from mass production lower costs, neither of which apply to the film industry currently. Covid is a secondary issue the film industry has been going through a crisis for years, and Fuji seems to be acting as if there basic plan is to quit film favoring much more lucrative options.
