KP - a great travel camera

This is what I have (had). A KP and a K3iii. I recently sold my KP as I decided I didn't need two bodies and the K3iii had so many other features. I am now having sellers regret as my KP was the camera I used most because of it's compact size. As for lenses, I have five. the afore mentioned DA 18-135, a Sigma 30mm 1.4, a Sigma 17-50mm 2.8, a Pentax 55mm 1.4 and a Pentax 55-300 zoom. I use the 18-135 most often, followed by the Sigma 17-50. The other lenses are hardly ever used. In retrospect, I should have kept the KP, sold the K3iii and maybe a few of the other lenses. I like to travel light. Years ago, I had a new K20D and was going to Hong Kong and didn't want to schlep the camera and lenses so I bought a Leica D-Lux 4. Believe it or not, it remained my primary camera until I bought a D-Lux 6. I loved the fact I could slip it into my pocket and didn't have to have it hanging from my neck. I do love small cameras although I have a soft spot for my Contax N1 (big, heavy camera) and the big, incredible Zeiss lenses that I have for it - a 24-85, 50 and 70-300 (huge - bigger than the camera!). I've started playing again with the Contax which sat unused after I bought my K20D. I'm also considering finding another used KP. LOL.

My go to lens for my K3Mkiii and my KP is the DA 18-135. Then my Sigma 17-50 f2.8. I also have the DA 50-300 and the DA 50mm 1.4.

Question - is there any adapter so I can use Zeiss Contax T lenses with CY mounts on my Pentax K3iii?

I have a KP and K3iii. The KP is my basic everyday point and shoot. When I want to get creative and have a bigger camera to balance with some of my bigger (heavier) lenses, I pull out the K3iii. Basic shooting is the KP with a DA 18-135. I've also started shooting film for the first time since 2006 with my old Contax N1 and the Zeiss 24-85 and 70-700. The 70-300 Zeiss lens is bigger and heavier than my KP with the 18-135 LOL.

I have a K3Mkiii and a KP. I bought the 55-300 but I find my go to lenses are my Sigma 17-50 and Pentax 18-135. They seem most useful. The 18-135 sees the most use because its somewhat petit and fits perfectly with my KP. The others balance better on the K3Mkiii.

Ships and planes are female only in English speaking countries. In France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Germany they are most definitely masculine. I don't know about Slavic countries as I don't speak any Slavic language.

My go to on my KP is the DA 18-135 F3.5-4.5. The KP is my basic point and shoot:) On my K3Mkiii its the Sigma 17-30 F. 2.8 followed by a 55 F 1.4. Occasionally the 55-300 F. 4.5-6.3. Then there's my trusty little Leica D-Lux 6 which I can slip in my pocket:)

I have a new K3iii and a KP. I have a Sigma F2.8 17-50, a Pentax F4 55-300 and a Pentax 55 F1.4. I just bought a Pentax 18-135 F 3.5 and have found it to be my basic go-too lens. Try it. It is reasonably cheap, reasonably fast and fits just about any subject you may be shooting. I only need the Sigma when I want speed. As for the 55-300, I don't do birds or wildlife (well, rarely) so it is probably the least used of my lenses. Try the 18-135. It's a super lens.

Will Pentax Make a New KP?

I spent 2000 for a new K3Mkiii. I also have a Leica X-Vario. I bought a demo KP on a whim and like it better than the K3Mkiii. It's nifty, smaller and easy. The Leica of course has an incredible if rather slow lens and while it can be played with is basically my point and shoot. My decision now is whether to sell the K3Mkiii because I prefer using the KP.

My trusty old K10D was destroyed in a flood along with two of my three lenses. I went out and bought a K3MKiii, a Sigma 17-50 2.8, and Pentax 55 1.4, Pentax 18-135 and Pentax 55-300. On a whim, I bought a used, near mint demo KP. I love the KP. I really like the small size. My other camera is an older Leica X-Vario which is my point and shoot. I like the KP so much I'm thinking of selling the K3Mkiii (its really much more camera than I need) and two of my lenses. Upgrade to a KP. If its too small for you, then try to find a K3MKiii used in top condition.

I bought it. Very happy with it too. Mine is black - beggars can be choosers - I had to take what was available. I put my new 18-135 on it. I have an older 18-250 from my K10 (RIP) which I might try on it. I'm even thinking of selling the K3Mkiii, the Sigma 17-50 and Pentax 55-300 and just keeping the 55 1.4 that I have to use with the KP. Or just selling the Sigma - it is a big, heavy lens - almost bigger than the KP itself.

I get it. Everyone loves to hate the Leica X-Vario but I love mine. I just remember it is not a low light lens and I'm a happy camper. As for my new KP, I originally (way back in the dark ages) bought a Pentax for its size. I had borrowed a friends Canon F-1 when I was in college. It was so big and heavy. I hated it. When I saw a Pentax in the store, I was so pleased with its petit size vis a vis the Canon and Nikon. I don't like a big heavy camera. Never did.

So I've been out and about the with KP and really like it. I honestly don't understand why Ricoh discontinued it. They should have kept it, discontinued the K-70 and maybe lowered the price although it was half the price of the K3Mk3.

I actually like a small camera. I have a Leica X-Vario that I picked up on a lark and having taken the K3Mkiii and the Leica on a recent trip to Central America I ended up using the Leica more because of its size. I could even see me selling the K3 (I really don't need all of its features) and keeping the KP and Leica.

I have recently bought a K3Mkiii to replace a K10, four lenses and a Leica that were ruined in a flood. So I got the K3Mkiii with four lenses, the 55mm 1.4, an 18-135mm, a 55-300mm, and a Sigma 17-50mm. I bought the 18-135 last to be my basic every day lens because the Sigma and the Pentax 55-300 were kind of big and sometimes I only want to go out with one lens. All well and good. I am learning how to use my K3 but it's not easy to teach an old dog new tricks. I would like to have a 2nd body and am considering buying a new left over or use KP. Should I or should I buy a K-70. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all the replys. I will probably get a K3iii and keep the K3 as a second body. I can afford it so why not? I will investigate the 55-300 lens however. Again, thanks.

Hi. I've been a Pentax user since the mid-70's and my first KX. I've had four Pentax film cameras, the last being the final top line before digital. I then bought a K10D. All of my cameras were destsroyed in my storage locker during Hurricane Ida. Flood on first floor of the building. I have purchased used a K3. It seems to be all I would want but I'm kind of eyeing a K3iii because the K3 is already seven years old. Should I? Should I buy a new one or be happy with the K3? I have purchased two lenses also - a 55mm F1.4 and a 50-200mm F4-5.6. Any thoughts? I'm an old fart (70) so this camera and my present motorcycle will be my last. :)
