I obviously need to check things better before buying stuff online. Today I picked up an Sigma 1.4x APO teleconverter, but I cant even attach it to the lens. It fits on the camera body though. I dont want to force it an damage any contacts or whatever. An alternative is the HD PENTAX-DA 1.4X AW AF Rear Converter, but |

How hard is it to upgrade a (discontinued) lens with ie better PLM / better focusing and whatever else? They have the blueprints and know how it's made.

Sorry late reply. I did a quick research yesterday and the TC is really old, so I imagine it's some kind of incabality between the lens and the TC.

Today I picked up a Kenko Tokina 2X Teleplus MC7 DG P/AF for Pentax. The seller said it ha electronic communication with the kamera body so AF should work. I have briefly testet it with my K-3 III and Pentax DA* 50-135, but the camera flat out refuses to take pictures. I tried setting it to manual focus and focus manually with the lens but same result. I even set the "Catch-in focus" setting to "off" in the menu. (this worked yesterday for being able to take pictures with my bellows in the bothanic garden). Is it just this lens in combination with the camera house or what am I missing or doing wrong?
edit: I found this thread saying the TC doesnt work with a K-5 and the lens I describe abobe.

I hope it's ok I answer in an old thread instead of making a new one. I currently have Bigma and have seen the DA* 300 for sale for prox ~460 USD. I expect the Pentax will give more crispy pictures.

Flowers are really beautiful when you look really close on them. The past years I have brought my bellows to the bothanic garden in Oslo to take similia pictures.
