Thank you it worked like a charm! although for the second video, the mechanism of the P30 was different, just removing the rewind mechanism reverted the lever to it's initial state.

---------- Post added 02-20-22 at 01:56 AM ----------

By playing around with the foil of aluminum and cleaning the copper rime and interior of the bottom cap, I see that there is some electricity flowing as the light-meter, and timer (red blinking light in front + count down) both work.

However, the rewind lever remains stuck.

Does anyone knows why? Does the unlocking of the lever requires battery as well?

Something that puzzles me is that, in the manual they state that the camera cannot operate without batteries. However, how can I still have the light-meter and timer working and the rewind lever off?

Thank you in advance for your help and support in the process!

UPDATE:

I manage to get some juice by playing with an other battery cap, and I got the lights to blink on the viewfinder (see picture 1). However, upon pressing the shutter release button, the mirror got stuck up (see picture 2).

Any suggestions please?

Thank you very much for your help!

Quick question: does the black outer part of the bottom cover acts as common ground or only the inner rim of the battery chamber upper part serves in the circuit? because if I use a multimeter the outer layer is not very conductive.

Thanks for your reply!

I have removed the bottom plate, as you can see from the picture below, but I don't see any corrosion. This being said I don't have any blueprint or reference of how the bottom should look like.

I also tried to remove the battery chamber but it was well wired, so on that side it seems okay.

I also don't understand how the negative side of the battery should be connected to complete the circuit, as the bottom plate does not seem to be connected to any type of wiring.

Hello everyone,

I bought a Pentax P30 from a flee Market some time ago. It lacked the battery chamber cover so I got for a really reduced price and it came with a pretty nice 35-70 mm lense. So I bought two Varta V13GA/LR44 1.5 V batteries (see Picture 2) and tried several things and nothing works.
order online a generic battery chamber cover but at the end it does not fit.
I tried to use aluminum foil as substitute to battery chamber cover (see Picture 3).
take the battery cover cap from my Pentax K1000 that fitted.

However all of the above yielded to the same observation:

When I turn on the camera, the re-wind lever is stuck (which according to what I read online, is normal, as the camera is battery powered), and I don't see anything on the viewfinder.

The battery chamber is not rusty hence I don't think there is a contact problem (see Picture 1).

I would appreciate some advice/input on the matter!

Thank you in advance!
