I think I sense some sarcasm from your post, but that thing is mega crusty - and judging by corrosion on the fasteners on the motor drive, the whole camera was exposed to significant moisture at some point. Could be fungus on the pentaprism and all manner of nastiness on the inside.
FWIW back in March I paid around $500 for a "Top Mint+++" (whatever that means lol) late model LX body with FA-1 finder from Japan on eBay - which as far as I can tell was an absolutely new in box camera with all paperwork and even the "remove before use" card on the film pressure plate. So far that camera has worked perfectly, knock on wood. If I was in the market for an LX I would personally bite the bullet and buy the best looking one I could from Japan or from someone on this forum.

I bought my two Pentax LX bodies and two 67 bodies from eBay Japan sellers and generally the cameras were in even more pristine condition than described in the listing. The one issue I did have with one of the LX's was obvious sticky mirror, even though the seller stated that "it functions correctly". I didn't even bother with letting the seller know of the issue and sent the camera in for the sticky mirror repair and a CLA for good measure. My other LX and two 67's have been working flawlessly. I typically only go after "top mint" cameras from reputable Japan sellers - so far this strategy has mostly paid off for me. Also 95% of my lenses came from Japan sellers, again not a single issue with them. I will say I am not a bargain hunter - I know what I want and will typically pay more for something that I believe to be in superior condition both cosmetically and functionally.

On my cameras these are usually the default lenses I keep on most of the time:
Pentax LX - SMC-A 28mm f/2
Pentax 6x7 - SMC Takumar 105mm f/2.4
Fuji X-T4 - XF 18mm f/1.4 LM WR

I do realize this lens is a bit of a unicorn made almost entirely of unobtanium, but I am looking for a SMC Pentax-A* 85mm f/1.4 lens in excellent condition. Bonus points for a copy that comes with the original MH-RA lens hood.

To add to the information in this thread - Jim Holman at ICT Camera in San Diego just did a sticky mirror repair and full CLA on my LX. Cost including insured return shipping to me was $250. Even though Jim is mainly a Nikon guy, he is quite good at working on LX's.

Pentax 6x7 (taken last fall with my Fuji X-T4 and Fujinon XF 18mm f/1.4) and my recently acquired LX (with uncommon FA-2 finder and equally uncommon SMC Pentax-A 35mm f/2).

Hello all - I've been a lurker on this forum for about a year. Got bit real hard with the medium format bug, which prompted me to get a Pentax 6x7 to help with my addiction. Getting a Pentax 6x7 gave me the Pentax bug and the only antidote was to buy a 35mm LX body and lenses. Now I'm a hopelessly afflicted Pentax film camera addict which I don't mind it at all.
Looking forward to actively participating in some of the (great) discussions on this site.
