I kinda want to, but still, I'm curious if it is possible to get something out of straight on-camera without taking it off/moving the head

I looked into that, but still, I can't quite wrap my head around firing flash straight into face, even with some distance to model
Is it even possible to make it work or for which purposes I would use that flash outside of landscape and candid(or is it interior) ?

Flash without ability to twist and turn the head, and the radio-trigger(I forgot how it is called outside of ru properly, we call it синхронизатор)

I look at different flashes for usage in case my current lenses aren't enough for low-light, like evening or night, but I still want to take some photos. Some time ago, I used Nikon SB-25 with radiosync, but sold it later. I'm looking at flashes like 200T, 200G, and likes of these, but can't quite figure out, why would I use it on my camera without sync? One reason I perfectly understand, they are very cheap and pocketable, but is it worth it and can I get good results without having to carry big flash with sync?

Yesterday I was one of the photographers on an anime festival in Moscow and sifting through 742 pics I took, caught myself on a thought that in 2023 I didn't get any better compared to 2022. I feel like my skill level sits back in 2022 and photos look kinda stock and default compared to colleagues who were at the festival. Have you ever felt that you did not grow as a photographer and how had you dealt with it?

Probably the first somewhat good pic I made. It was two days since I bought my poor K-x. Not THE first photo, sadly, as that would be way back in 2008, when I was a first-grader in school, taking a pic on an compact film superzoom, and that photo was made on a film. The proper first photo also was made on a film camera, a soviet FED-4, and I can't scan the film rn, sadly. So I guess, I'd use a first digital and first Pentax photo I've made that isn't testing the camera. I was trying to prove something to myself and tried to manually focus on an autofocus lens to no avail.

Photo of my girlfriend on an evening train. Still consider it my best photo of 2023.

I would have been happy to grab a tripod, but currently I'm accumulating money for other things, so I have to use only the equipment I've already got. But also, with cold wind that was blowing this evening, tripod would've probably slowed me down a bit, being a headache to carry.

Yup, wide open to use ISO as low as I could w/o bringing speed slower than 1/10, since I did this handheld(zooming in on some parts you can see the little shake).
Also, it's a Panorama, because I wanted to get more detail.

this trio is old, but trusty and gets everything i need, done. what can i ask for?

Man, the NR in Lightroom had hit hard some parts of the pic.
I definetly got to grab a few primes, it's harder after 1600

Welp, just few hours ago I upgraded from a K-x with dying motherboard(seller knew more than official service centre lol, at least I figured out these troubles) to K-5 with 29900 clicks, already did probably around 50 clicks and got a lot of questions.
1. Bracketing. Why I might need it?
2. What are the recommendations for NR customisation?
3. I had read review but still, is it any good at 1600 and 3200 ISO?
4. Which exposure metering mode is better to use and where do they differ?
Thankfully, Frog.

Welp, if tge situation won't change, I may have to get a K5.
At least AF speed bothers me less than accuracy.

Probably going to use 16mp bc my poor laptop struggles even with 12mp and I'm not upgrading that soon, sadly, so yeah, no 20+ mp count ---------- Post added 12-14-22 at 08:13 AM ----------
I tried swapping my SDXC 64gb card to newer sdhc 16gb card(64 was bought used, 16gb bought new) to no avail, still the same buffer troubles.
The flash, when i pop it up, allows to get up to 1/180th and no higher, but for some reason(which i tried to figure out here around summer this year, even went to service center in moscow, still no idea) it still is dark and doesn't sync up properly.
Weird, i know.

K-S1, K-50, K-5 and K-5II models, all around same price (except k5 and k5ii mostly higher in price for some reason), and I honestly dunno what do I do. K-3's(especially K-3II) are kinda hard to find for me, and way out of my money, so I'm not looking that way. ---------- Post added 12-14-22 at 07:02 AM ---------- K-S1 also seems to come with Limited lens.

So, I'm going to get myself new body for New Year, since my K-x shows signs of aging: buffer suspiciously fills up after two raw or two jpegs instead of promised eight(if I remember correctly), flash sync speed isn't as promised(1/50th and no higher instead of 1/180th) ,and I feel like after my friends gifted me a 16-50 DA* SDM, I've hit the roof of that camera. It's not a bad camera, but 12mp doesn't feel detailed enough with 16mm pics.
My budget is around 16k ₽, which is roughly 250$(man, I thought it would be more) and I already looking up on Avito(eBay, but it's russian) some bodies like K-5II/s in that price range but recently, I saw some K-50's and K-30's around same or cheaper cost and started to wonder, if I should go for K-50 instead of K-5II. K-70/K-3 and higher are out of my money pool, so I'm sadly not able to get them.
So I ask, if it's worth grabbing a K-50 or a K-5II, if K-50 cheaper/same price as K-5/II/IIs? And what would be the differences?

I just hope pic fits the theme. My brain decided to stop working when I tried to understand what is arch in landscape, and what isn't.
Was making photos of Nekrasov's house on Hlebny Lane for my firend, who studies at state uni of civil engineering architecture, and needed to sketch that building. And BAM, I see this theme pop up.
