Interesting. We were both shooting 400, and this is happening even at f/22.
The same thing happens with 1/2s and 1s if I change the speed to 200.

Hi,
Both my son and I are using K1000's and we are both having the same issue where once we put the shutter speed to 1/2s, the needle jumps to the top. It's not just a small step that you would see moving from one stop to the next.
We could be at the bottom of the meter at 1/4s.. and once we move the shutter speed to 1/2s... the needle jumps to the top. It does not move down if we point to a darker/shaded area.
Is this a common thing? Both cameras have just had a CLA.

Was just about to get into using my K1000 again. Got a new lens for it along with some Portra and it seems the gears on the takeup spool are worn.
Is this an easy enough DIY fix?

Hi,
I grew up shooting my K1000 which I still own, but have been on digital for an extended period of time. I currently have the SMC Pentax-A 50mm f/2 but wanted to pick up one of the Three Amigos – The FA Limited 43mm.
In my searches it looks like B&H has them but the description says "Based on the FA Limited Lens series, renowned for their meticulous attention in every detail..."
I would imagine this is a newly manufactured lens and is not one of the original FA Limited lens's that are sought after.
My question is how do I recognize an original, where is the best place to find one, and what price am I looking at?
I have been primarily photographing nature for the past 10 years but want to get back to my roots with film and "non-nature" work. I'll be heading to NYC in a few weeks and would love to bring my K1000 with a nice lens to go along with the rolls of film that have been stored in an attic for the past 20 years. :cool::lol:
