I use a wrist strap. When I need to free up my hand(s) I have a Peak Design Capture Clip on my camera bag / backpack / belt (whichever I have) to clip the camera to. It works great with light to medium weight lenses.

I had the non-PLM (it committed suicide when it fell off the 14th floor of the Paradise Pier Hotel in Disneyland) and replaced it with the PLM version. GET THE PLM VERSION! There is no comparison. The older lens is a slow focusing slug. You can take great photos with it, but it is slow. The PLM is EXCELLENT.

There is no such thing as “Cloud Storage.” There is only storage on someone else’s hard drive.

Leica has a B/W only camera and it is very nice (and expensive of course). You get added resolution because the light doesn’t need to go through the bayer array (filter). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayer_filter |

I was a new digital photographer around then with my Pentax *istDL. The way I remember it, the “discussion” got pretty heated for the DPR forum at that time (it was generally friendly forum). I learned a lot about histograms from that forum thread.

I’ve had that happen on one of my updates too. Like TDvN57 said, it probably flashed complete that I didn’t see before it went blank.
Good shooting

The FA-20 is wider than your request, but I love mine and with all of those pixels on the K-1 it’s plenty easy to crop down. It does need to be stopped down a little for best results.

I would get a zoom like the 18-55 or even the 18-135 for flexibility, but I would definitely add the DA 35mm f/2.4 and/or the DA 50mm f/1.8. Each can be had on the used market for less than $100 and there is NOTHING like a fast prime to learn with. Having a big aperture is such a joy. You’ll learn how important depth of field is to telling a story in a picture. It’s also fun to have a prime for framing a picture. It’s much more difficult to “fit” things in your shot, but you will swiftly become a much better photographer.
Whatever you decide have fun and good shooting!

Mooncatt’s cooking analogy is great. So are HoLun’s and othar’s posts.
To add to what they’re saying, if you point your smartphone at a subject, and it gets the picture right, your DLSR will too - shoot a .jpg. But on those shots when a smartphone camera can’t get the exposure, color or any other part of the picture correct, neither will your DLSR’s .jpg engine. You’ll want and need those extra pixels in the file, however; if you can’t cook (edit), go to a restaurant.
When you’re editing a .jpg, it’s like only having the eight color Crayola box. When editing raw files you have the box of 64 with the built in sharpener.*
*”See what I did there, “sharpener.” Heh.

One thing that helps is a macro slider. Instead of refocusing through the focal range, leave the focus ring in place and move the camera forward (or backward). You can pick up a cheap one for around $40 on Amazon or eBay.

The K-1 is kind of big and heavy for what I do so you may want to invest in a Kp (I love spending other peoples money). I have a Lowepro sling bag. When riding I attach the chest strap so it doesn’t swing around to the front. I use a Peak Design clip and put the camera with a pancake lens against my chest. I’ve even done it with the 55-300 plm, however; that can be uncomfortable after a while. In the sling I’ll carry the other pancakes and maybe the fisheye or 100 macro (depending on where I’m riding). My bike is an ebike and I sit fairly upright. I wouldn’t try it on a road bike. A mountain bike would probably be okay if you stay on a smooth surface.

Turn off the camera
Put a card in card slot #1 and leave card slot #2 empty.
Turn camera back on and it should recognize the card in slot #1.
Turn the camera off
Put a card in slot #2
Turn the camera back on
This usually fixes the problem.

Page 117 of the manual says the 15, 21 and 560 cannot use all of the focus points. It directs you to the website for more and more current information.

It’s smaller than the 50 and 85, but it’s still pretty big. Isn’t it great to have these first world problems!

I have the three amigos and love them. I have the FA 20 f/2.8 and currently use it as the 4th Musketeer. But I’m looking at the size of this new lens and thinking of a three lens kit consisting of the new 21, the D FA 50mm f/1.4 and the D FA 85mm f/1.4. So in other words, this lens is about to cost me $3,300 (I already have the 50). All three are weather sealed monsters. On the K-1 this would be amazing.

It was not an overreaction. From what was known at the time by law enforcement the man was trying to blow up an airliner. Good for him he followed instructions and complied. That’s a heroic act in the face of adversity.
The woman complainant should be put on a no-fly list.

I noticed something about my new K-3 iii, or more specifically, I noticed something about the box. Ricoh isn’t prominently displayed anywhere. It is written on one side down low, but look how different the box for the 16-85 shows the parent company brand.
The camera is phenomenal by the way. WOW!
