I’ve had that happen on one of my updates too. Like TDvN57 said, it probably flashed complete that I didn’t see before it went blank.
Good shooting

There is no such thing as “Cloud Storage.” There is only storage on someone else’s hard drive.

I would get a zoom like the 18-55 or even the 18-135 for flexibility, but I would definitely add the DA 35mm f/2.4 and/or the DA 50mm f/1.8. Each can be had on the used market for less than $100 and there is NOTHING like a fast prime to learn with. Having a big aperture is such a joy. You’ll learn how important depth of field is to telling a story in a picture. It’s also fun to have a prime for framing a picture. It’s much more difficult to “fit” things in your shot, but you will swiftly become a much better photographer.
Whatever you decide have fun and good shooting!

Mooncatt’s cooking analogy is great. So are HoLun’s and othar’s posts.
To add to what they’re saying, if you point your smartphone at a subject, and it gets the picture right, your DLSR will too - shoot a .jpg. But on those shots when a smartphone camera can’t get the exposure, color or any other part of the picture correct, neither will your DLSR’s .jpg engine. You’ll want and need those extra pixels in the file, however; if you can’t cook (edit), go to a restaurant.
When you’re editing a .jpg, it’s like only having the eight color Crayola box. When editing raw files you have the box of 64 with the built in sharpener.*
*”See what I did there, “sharpener.” Heh.

I noticed something about my new K-3 iii, or more specifically, I noticed something about the box. Ricoh isn’t prominently displayed anywhere. It is written on one side down low, but look how different the box for the 16-85 shows the parent company brand.
The camera is phenomenal by the way. WOW!

Did you shoot .jpgs by mistake? The profiles are mostly for RAW files. I speak from experience.

It was not an overreaction. From what was known at the time by law enforcement the man was trying to blow up an airliner. Good for him he followed instructions and complied. That’s a heroic act in the face of adversity.
The woman complainant should be put on a no-fly list.

From questions about a new lens to Latin at the Vatican. Wow, did this thread go off the rails!
I love the internet (no sarcasm intended here, this cracked me up).

Use snoots on your flashes to direct the light on, and only on, your subjects. I’ve made my own snoots with card stock , Velcro tape and black duct tape.

I’ve had the older version (it committed suicide by falling 14 floors) and replaced it with the PLM. Buy the PLM, no matter the price difference. The PLM focuses faster and much more accurately. It’s not even close. And for the record, the older slower lens wasn’t bad per se.

(Edit) I uploaded the serial number onto the forum as defective. Good idea SSGGeezer

On a K-5 get the DA-40. At f/2.8 it’s better than the 43 at that aperture and it’s so much fun to use. The colors are wonderful.

The DA 55-300 PLM is very good. Yeah, it’s a crop lens, but that’s not a bug, it’s a feature. It crops to 450mm on the long end. It’s relatively small and the focus is fast. Very fast. F/6.3 on the long end is a definite drawback in non-daylight conditions. Other than that it’s a terrific lens.

The Cactus RF60x is not only a flash, it’s a transmitter. There is no reason to put a V6 ii on your camera and then the RF60x. Buy two RF60x’s, one on and one off camera or one RF60x and one V6ii. Use a different ttl flash on the V6ii off camera (Canon, Nikon, Pentax...j. With the lastest firmware all will work with Pentax cameras as ttl flashes.
That said, the V6ii is easier to manipulate as the transmitter on the camera than the RF60x, it’s what it is made for, so... put the V6ii on the camera and put an AF360 Pentax on top (used for <$100 on eBay) to be used as pass through P-ttl. It’s less complicated than it sounds. The Cactus system ROCKS!

My travel kit usually consists of the three amigos (FA 31, 43 and 77), and the FA 20. If I think there’s a chance of needing something long I’ll add the 55-300 (PLM version) and shoot in crop mode. If I’m expecting tight quarters I’ll bring the 17-28 fisheye. If I’m expecting rain I’ll use the D FA 24-70 or the D FA 28-105.

Be sure to turn on Highlight Alerts and watch for the dreaded flashing red of blown out highlights. I’ve shot several bands and the spotlights are pretty bright compared to the rest of the room. Set your Exposure Compensation somewhere around -2.0 and -3.0.

When will we get a new GR and a new APS-C flagship? And even though it’s old news, thank them for the K-1 and K-1 ii.
