Have I somehow locked them? I couldn't find a lock setting. Or, is there something wrong with the camera? Please help. The online manual has so much information that it is overwhelming.
The manual setting is locked at 1/800 sec F9 and the auto setting is locked at 1/80 sec F3.5. I was trying to set the aperture priority function to F11.

Thanks. I had turned the screen off. But, turning the screen back on (outdoor view setting) has no effect. ---------- Post added 08-14-22 at 10:59 AM ----------
Yes. I have autofocus with the viewfinder on (AFA, spot meter) and autofocus in live view on (AFA, spot meter). I don't seem to have the option to turn either the autofocus with viewfinder or autofocus with live view off. only change available is AFA, AFC, AFS.

I turn the camera on. The standby screen appears. I press the shutter ½ way down. I can hear the whir of the camera find focus and it beeps. The live view screen stays blank- it doesn’t show the preview image like it did before. I fire the shutter, and a live view image of the photograph I just took fills the live view screen. So, the focus, shutter and live view screen work.
I’ve tried re-seting the camera, turning every function on and off, and I still don’t get the preview image on the live view screen. The battery is fully charged. The camera is about 1 month old. :(

I found the remote setting once. I think it didn't work because my SD card was locked. Now, when I go through all the menus, I can't find the remote setting again.

Does the K70 work with an untethered remote shutter release in standby mode? I have a Pentax O-RC1 remote that only works on video setting and a JJC remote shutter release that is supposed to be for the K-70 but does nothing. Is this a flaw or a characteristic of the camera? Do I need a remote release that plugs into the camera?

I recently purchased a new K-70. I have had it for three days. I've shot about 20 pics, but spent most of my time learning about the menus by using the view screen. The battery lasted about 3 hours then failed. The battery and camera body were cool to the touch when I removed the battery. Is this typical, or do I have a bad battery? I've read from other threads that it's possible to check the battery and charger with a voltmeter. Can anyone tell me how this is done? I have a voltmeter but only used it to check outlets.
It took 2.5 hours to charge the battery using the Pentax Battery Charger D-BC109.
I took a close look at the charger- it has 4 spring wires to match the 4 battery contacts. They have small symbols for each contact. Going from left to right the symbols are +, T, -, and D. I have no idea what the T and D contacts do. And there are only three contacts in the camera body- for +, T, and -. So, that is enough information to measure the battery- but what voltage should a newly charged battery show?
Since the charger only charges with a battery in place, I am at a loss on how to use a voltmeter with the charger.

I've tried using the RAW file selection button in auto. It makes a Raw file and resets to jpg for the next image.
