This picture is one of my favorite candid street photos as the background matches almost perfectly with the clothes this gentleman is wearing. Hope you like it!

Hi everyone,
So I'm looking for a replacement battery for my Pentax K70.
I've been asked to shoot at an engagement party of a family member, but it'd be nice to use the battery when I travel as well I guess.
I understand the best option would be the original Pentax battery, but does anyone have experience with some other cheaper brands?
And is it true that those cheaper brands can explode, or is it just internet rumor?
Thank you!

A beautiful play between different ages and the fall season showing the stages of life of both humans and nature in a single shot :)

I had tried these settings. I have it now on Expanded Autofocus setting, which does a great job with street photography and moving objects. ---------- Post added 12-04-22 at 07:15 AM ----------
I actually own a 28mm 2.8 manual lens, as I was using it sometimes on my Pentax K10D. I will try out these settings, but it's way too wide for my type of street photography setting. I usually shoot my subjects closer up with some bokeh background. However, in some situations 28mm may be nice, so I will definitely test it out. ---------- Post added 12-04-22 at 07:15 AM ----------
Many thanks for the tips! ---------- Post added 12-04-22 at 07:17 AM ----------
Thanks! I will try it with my 28mm 2.8 as suggested earlier also :) ---------- Post added 12-04-22 at 07:18 AM ----------
Not the right ones haha. I can't remember for sure, but I think 11 focus points, single shot, center focus and some various settings that I would then change. I have it now on expanded focus which works quite well.

Hi all,
So I recently bought a Pentax K70 for Street Photography. I take mostly pictures of people, meaning moving objects.
I have a 50mm 1.8 DA autofocus lens on it. However, the autofocus is quite slow and usually it doesn't autofocus on the subject, but on the background. This happens especially when the subject is a bit further away.
However, when it does capture what I need, it's beautiful! I tried the Sony A6400 with a 18-135 OSS lens today, but the quality it produces is really bad..so disappointed.
But I can't have half of my pictures be out of focus. So I thought maybe my settings are wrong. If someone can perhaps tell me what settings are best, then I will test out the camera again tonight and then decide between keeping the K70 or the Sony A6400.
Thanks.

A beautiful dramatic sky with negative space below it, the sun lost behind layers of clouds. Taken with a Pentax K10D (my first DSLR :D).

I will take this into consideration when buying. Usually I read the reviews of other people and see how many stars they gave and how many people. I found one where the guy has about 770 reviews, of which 100 5-star. I think I'll take the chance! :)

Thanks for the tips, I'll keep it in mind. Yes unfortunately it doesn't offer any protection. However, payments now go through Marktplaats.nl and you can get some buyer's protection I think. It's something :D

Haha I mean, I guess I'm looking for "poor man's" lenses and cameras at the moment. Maybe at some point I will be able to afford some better ones :). And many thanks for the valuable advise mikesbike! ---------- Post added 08-14-22 at 02:43 AM ----------
Very interesting, thank you for sharing your knowledge photogem. I'm learning a lot on this forum. And I may try ebay then, as our local Dutch site does not offer this (14 days) from what I know, except if it's not as advertised maybe.

Hey thanks for the advise. I got the tip that for the K10D, a Manual one doesn't work well, otherwise I saw them around for 30 bucks.

Hey Stevejo, I indeed own a 18-55mm. I thought I should get myself a 50mm prime lens as I saw people saying those are better quality. And indeed the Pentax bug is making me search for these lenses already haha! ---------- Post added 08-13-22 at 10:09 AM ----------
Will do, and indeed there aren't that many unfortunately in the Netherlands!

Hello dear photographers. I'm new to photography and bought myself a secondhand K10D to practice with.
I was advised in a previous thread to buy a Pentax autofocus 50mm lens. I found one in good state (so it says) for 75 euro/dollar. Would this be a good investment or should I find it for cheaper you'd say? I use a local website from the Netherlands and don't want to use eBay.
Many thanks!

Very nice, especially the list you compiled - it's super useful! I will definitely look through them and explore some sample pictures on the internet with the lenses taken. I may then see how much I can spend on it without going broke. Thanks a lot ! :D And indeed I think the 'normal range' would be cool, although at this phase if I find a cheap lens I might just buy it to try it out - like the Sigma 100-300mm I found for 40 bucks (see my previous reply to K-Three).

Thanks for the tip. Actually I found one that said "Sigma telelens 100-300mm (Pentax mount)" - see picture below. She sells it for 40 bucks, do you think it's worth it or should I just stick to the Pentax lenses you recommend - even if I'm a beginner who doesn't want to spend a lot of money on gear yet until I find out my style and learn some more?

Thank you Des and thank you for the elaborate explanations and recommendations, I really appreciate it. I think I will always stick to Pentax from now on due to this helpful community! And I will most likely start out with budget lenses, probably second-hand so that I can find my style and try out different things and see what I enjoy indeed :). Then hopefully I can buy some more advanced bodies and gear to shoot more professionally and with more knowledge.
And the tip on shooting RAW is helpful, I will definitely do this and keep all my memories in this format for the future!

And I'm grateful, haha I will definitely need to spend my hard-earned money it seems. But seeing pictures for inspiration just wants me to have the skills. Alas, I will be patient and keep on learning and asking :D

Wow, it seems I have a lot to learn still. Thank you for being elaborate, I have read through your post with delight :). I may then just use the K10D + 18-55mm lens which I picked up for 50 bucks total for some time until I understand everything about photography and understand what I prefer. Then I can maybe sell the K10 again and find a better one so not to waste money on the lenses, which seem to be what is really pricey mostly. I really appreciate everyone being so helpful !

As I'm quite new to photography (like 1 week now), I actually want to try out everything. I like to have (interesting) people in my pictures, but with a nice background - if you know what I mean. Imagine the Champs Elysees in Paris as a background.
