I've never used anything like a lightroom or photoshop or any other post processing software software.
But I'm curious about them and would like to know what the general consensus is about what You are using
and why. I don't want to start paying a monthly fee on one until I decide IF I want to use it on a regular basis
or not. Is there one I can get for free OR buy for a small price without a long commitment?
I'd like to hear from anyone who is fairly experienced with post processing.
Thanks

Oops!! I was looking in the wrong place. I didn't see "Histogram" in the manuals index either.
I don't use the Live View so I guess that's another reason I missed it. Thanks for the tip..

I have a friend who has the Sony 7Rv and he swears by it. It takes amazing pictures (with his help)
He has tried several times to get me to make the switch to Sony over my Pentax. I have to admit that
I've looked at the 7Rv a few times but in the end I told him I could buy a new K3 iii AND a K1 ii for the price
of the Sony 7Rv. So, (for ME) it's going to have to be Pentax.

I have read a few things about the Histogram thing and got to thinking I'd like to try it out.
So I got to looking at my cameras menu and looked again but apparently the K70 doesn't
have a histogram setting. So I guess for now I'll have to skip the idea of using the histogram.
Oh well, next time a buy a new Pentax, I look for that feature.

I don't know what to say about your situation and the K3 iii. It's a little sad.
The only thing I can think of is, Send it to me and stop your suffering.

I hate to ask really dumb questions. Well, actually I'm old and don't really care what you think about me That much.
I know the K3 iii Monochrome is getting Raved reviews but (here it comes) Cant you just set the camera to take B & W ?
Is the quality that much better with the Mono ?
Since I haven't shot B&W since maybe 1969 I'm not sure why a dedicated B&W camera is needed.
I would say give it to me gently but, what the heck, Let me have it straight.

I bought my 1st Pentax back in 1967 and I've never shot anything but Pentax... So I guess you could say, I'm a Life Long Pentaxian of sorts.
I would Love to have a brand new K-3 iii OR K-1 ii. But when I start thinking about the New cost I start rethinking about how nice my K-70 is.
Everyone & his brother keeps telling me (even at my age) I should go Mirror-less. But I don't see the advantage To Me in doing that.
I have a buddy who shoots a Sony A7R V. That is one Fine camera. But OMG it's expensive.
If I were 40 years younger I might have to time to get used to a new system. But I'm not so I'll probably just stick with my rusty trusty K-70.
But then again, if Pentax comes out with a K-3 iv OR a K-1 iii, I may have to take the leap anyway. And it'll be New.

You know, you're going to hell for this.
I don't think you're allowed to stay now.
So, can I have all your gear? :-)
You almost had me on this one.

I too made the jump a few months ago after several years of the Kx.
I went with the K-70 over the KF because I'm a cheep old fart. However,
as much as I appreciate the Improvement over the Kx I am absolutely
positive you will really enjoy the KF much better than your old Kx.
I even selected the K-70 over the K-3iii because the K-70 has Plenty
of features to keep me satisfied and the K-3iii actually has a lot of
features that I would probably never use. The K-70 & KF are Really
Both Excellent cameras.

Not everything needs to be Drop Dead Funny to be a joke.
Clearly, either you have the ability to get it or you don't.
Maybe you are correct by saying it went over your head.
However, that's ok, many things will. I'm sure you have other
fine qualities even if subtle humor is not one of them.

Some of you just don't get a joke when you see it.
My point apparently went right over your head.
The point was, I've been using Pentax for so long,
for over (45+ Years) that I have no need nor desire
to change to another brand. Going back to the original
topic of this thread, "Are we really that Rare".
In other words, I couldn't care less if we are "That Rare".
I'm a dedicated Pentaxian.

There is nothing wrong with a K-x. Slap a fairly decent lens on it and shoot.

I hope this is the right place to start this.
I'd like to maybe open up a Can of Worms with this question.
I'm sure there are Many, Many combinations and preferences.
For Night or even Real Low light photography which camera
and which lens do you prefer OR think does the best job?
I am just starting to give it a try with my K-70 but have not
completely settled on a lens. 20-40 Limited? 50 DA star?
I'm going out tonight with an old 50 that I had on my ME Super
just to see what happens.
Any thoughts or suggestions ?

CLEARLY, I need to take a good look into this B&W thing.
But VERY doubtful I'll go for that Leica. hahahha
I'm going to reset U3 to B&W and try that first.
Pentaxians are a helpful bunch. :-)

Thanks for the explanation folk. You All make valid points that haven't been evident to me.
I may eventually give it a try but it's going to be a while. Not on my 2023 bucket list.
I'm just not that good yet.

PLEASE forgive me, I Do Not want to start a war or receive Hate Mail about this. I just want to be educatd.
I have not shot B&W since the mid 1960's. I'm not sure what the attraction is for a B&W dslr. I've only shot
one photo in B&W on my Kx and not any on my K70 even though I can set it to do so.
That being said, I know there must be (Apparently) many who either do or want to. But I don't quite get why
Pentax went with a K-3 iii that shoots only B&W. ((To Me)) it seems like a flot of money to buy a camera just
for that when their other Pentax cameras already shoot B&W.
What am I missing out on? Is there really That much demand for this camera? OR is it that "We" are so addicted
to our beloved Pentax that we must have the latest of what they Make?
Please remember that I'm asking out of ignorance of the B&W movement.. Not to stir up Hate Mail or insults.
I really am just curious. ---------- Post added 04-19-23 at 08:13 PM ----------
Mine sure collect a lot of dust since I can't actually take one down and drive it.

So if I did this correctly my K-70 was manufactured in June of 2022.
I guess that means I have the latest goodies inside. That was really cool.
For whatever that means. So far so good. I'll check it again in 5 years or so.

I just want to thank everyone for your helpful suggestions and direction.
I'm on the wrong side of 70 and have been looking for a new hobby in
photography. I think I've got it narrowed down to the Tamron 90 and the
Pentax 100. Now the serious search begins.
Thank you one & all. I'm really enjoying this Pentax Group.

I'd like to start taking some Macro shots but not sure which way to go with my K-70.
So I hope some of the Pentaxians might share their ideas on a reasonably good Macro lens.
I have a Pentax 28-105 zoom Macro which isn't too bad but I think I'd like to go with a
dedicated Macro lens.
All I've looked at so far are the Pentax 100mm & the 50mm. I've heard something
about a 90mm Macro from Takumar I think it is (?) being pretty good.
For you Macro fans, which do you like best (50mm vs 100mm) and why.
Thanks for your suggestions and assistance.
