Try Butkis.com. Or eBay. Unless you're a trained technician with all the equipment, I would not try it.

Pentax wise and film wise I use a Pentax 645N with a fairly full complement of lenses. I also use a 6x7 with a select few lenses. Both are superb and have had them for years. The image quality of a 6x7 properly shot transparency is wonderful. Size does matter. ---------- Post added 08-03-23 at 05:58 PM ---------- I only have two Pentax cameras, a 645N and a 6x7.

Get yourself a good solid tripod and solid head. I have shot both 35 and 120 with a number of cameras, and lenses. For a tripod and heads Gitzo. I've used and still do Gitzo products that are many years old, and they still provide me with a stable platform. I have used a Pentax 6x7 for years, some shots handheld with a fast shutter speed, others tripod mounted. If you want the best possible image use a tripod. The best lenses in the world can't overcome camera shake when handheld. As to the debate between Pentax lenses or Mamiya 7II lenses, I have both systems. I can handhold my Mamiya much more than the Pentax. A laboratory comparison might give you an answer, the reality is I don't know, nor do I care. Both systems lenses satisfied my clients needs, and that's all I cafred about.

This is just my observation of how weather can stop my outdoor photographic efforts. I've made images in the cold, snow, rain, and heat, but the weather right now in Nevada is beyond hot. Just the thought of going to do some shooting in the great outdoors, is enough to give me heat exhaustion. We have had highs of 119 degrees. Anything exposed to the sun gets hot. So until Fall, I'll do indoor and tabletop subjects.

I have used UV filters on all my lenses, 35 and 120 since the eighties. If I'm shooting B & W I take the UV off and replace it with the appropriate color lens.

I have been making purchases off eBay for a number of years. When shopping for "used" or "pre-owned" it offers the product from any number of sellers. Maybe I've just been fortunate or a careful shopper, but when it comes to adding something to one of my several hobbies it seems to be the only source. Example, I wanted to replace a standard viewing screen in my Hasselblad. I found a photography dealer in Germany who had the Beatie intenscreen I wanted, when I could not locate one in the states. First rule is, buy the buyer, then the product.

Trying to find out if the 75 f2.8 came with a lens hood? I was going through my 6x4.5N equipment and all my lenses have their supplied lens hoods, except for 75, and I can't remember if one was supplied. Thanks

Finally saw a couple of photos of the last 67 II. I know I'm 25 years late, but have my 6x7 MLU. Looking at the top plate of the 67 II I was immediately struck by the similarity of the layout controls to my 645N. I took my 6x4.5N and compared the layouts. Very, very similar, almost the same. Now I know why the big noise about the 67 II's metering, and exposure compensation. As I say I have my 6x7 MLU and my 6.45N, and see no reason to change. Just an observation

On prime camera bodies. I am constantly amazed by comments asking if a third party, inexpensive, will produce good images when coupled to a prime body. The plain truth is it's not the body, it's the lens. The body holds the film, the lens does the taking. Digital cameras house a micro computer that does all the work and the thinking in most cases. With digital you can use an inexpensive third party lens, and then with Photo Shop, etc, create nice photos. If you shoot film, you must do the thinking. If you purchased a Leica M, new or used, it did not come cheap. Leica glass is very expensive and for good reason. Would you really want to put a Chinese, or Japanese made lens on your Leica?

Vivitar had a reputation of very inexpensive lenses, going back to the 70's. I would save my money and get the scotch. Cheap scotch is better than a cheap Vivitar.

I have relied on Gitzo tripods, monopod and Gitzo ball head plus pan and tilt heads. I was a professional photographer for years and I know the value of using a tripod versus hand holding. When I was selling my work it had to be sharp. A tripod or monopod, to a lesser degree, should ensure your images are sharp.

Over the years I've relied on Gitzo tripods, monopods, plus several different Gitzo heads. I lugged a three series around for years. Finally sold it, my shoulders aren't young, and bought a series 2 traveler carbon fibre. I know there are many different brands available, but I stick with what I know.

My goal of putting together another 6x7 system kit is finally achieved. Years ago I used a 6x7 MLU and several lenses, coupled meter prism, handle and assorted accessories. When I retired as a professional photographer, I downsized my equipment. I sold my system kit. Recently I thought I'd try a 6x7 again. Trying to source for a body, lenses, handle, metered prism, hoods, from the US wasn't practical. Turning to eBay, I found much 6x7 equipment available from Japanese dealers. Since Pentax is located in Japan the dealers in used 6x7 was a no-brainer. Found a mint body, metered prism, three lenses: 75 f4.5 (late), 105 f2.4 very good, and a 150 f2.8 mint. Also a wood handle, lens hoods, filters. Now I'll just be shooting for myself, no clients.

Having spent the last 45 years living in the deserts of AZ, NM, and NV I have never been bothered by fungus. It bothers me when I see a lens advertised for sale and it is described as 3excellent, except for small fungus. While I'm a professional photographer, retired, I am not a lens technician. The thought of disassembling one of my lenses is a no-no. I have read where removing fungus is an expensive proposition. I don't know if there is anything I could suggest.

Howdy from Nevada. I love film, started in photography in the mid 80's and progressed from there. My only Pentax is my just acquired 6x7. I formerly owned one when I was shooting professionally. I did editorial and stock photography. No weddings.
