What To Get as My FIRST Macro Lens?

The 100 WR macro looks to be fantastic and is next on my list. I've been using the 35 Ltd Macro on my K7 and now Kx and am very pleased with it. I do mostly flowers so working distance is fine for me.

Disturbing K7 story

It sounds like you may have a problem with the second body, though not as severe as the first. I only say this because I've fired off a thousand frames on my K7 and am just not seeing much in the way of overexposure at all. I've shot mainly with primes, the 35, 55, but have also shot quite a few with the new 18-55WR. My camera certainly isn't underexposing to the degree that my k20 did but I'm not seeing much in the way of nuked highlights at all. Of course we haven't had much sun this summer either, so perhaps take this with a grain of salt!

Normally I'm strictly a landscape, macro kinda guy but I've had the opportunity to do some shooting with a friend this past week and thought I'd try my hand with a few portraits. Comments most welcome. Most of these were taken with the 35 Ltd on the K7, but a couple of the rainy day cemetery photos were taken with the new 18-55WR as it was pouring rain. Good news is the K7 is quite weatherproof!

update. I did some shooting this morning and after cleaning off the lcd upon returning home it appears one of my specs is moving around! Could this be from static electricity from my cleaning cloth or could it be a very small critter? The others don't seem to move.

Interesting comments here regarding the 5D2. I shot with the Mark II until recently and for landscapes in good light the af is just fine but take that thing indoors and you had better use center point autofocus as the af accuracy varies widely on the outer af points, often missing when it comes to critical focus.

Burning Man? (Desert photography tips)

Reading these posts brings back memories of the early Burning Man festivals held at Baker Beach in San Francisco. I only went out to the playa once, in 2001 and didn't have a dslr, but I took my film Pentax (and a Digital Elph pocket cam) and kept them in sealed plastic bags when I wasn't using them.

Hey folks,

Very happy with the images I'm seeing from the K7 so far. One of the reasons I decided on one was the weathersealing. My K20 has been quite solid in this department. I live in upstate NY where we have a lot of weather. One question I have is about dust behind the lcd. I noticed about four specs between the outer cover and lcd display when shooting with the sun on the camera this afternoon. Now this doesn't really bug me except if it means the weathersealing is not sufficient when it is raining out. I also picked up the new 18-55 so that I could have a light kit for shooting out in the rain during the summer. So do you guys think I have a problem with the cam or should I just not worry about it. Many thanks for any replies.

Piece of dust/lint behind Km lcd screen

Hi folks,

I feel kinda silly posting about this honestly. I just bought a K2000 as a back up to my K20D and when looking at the lcd while shooting outside today I notice a piece of lint or very small thread is trapped behind the protective covering over the lcd. I've not seen this before on my cameras and was just wondering if this is an indication that more will accumulate over time because of a weak seal. Should I replace it or just forget about it. It certainly doesn't impact the actual photographs in any way.

Cheers,

FM

Hello all,

Just wanted to say a quick hi as I'm new to the forum. I currently shoot with a K20D (and a Nikon body for sports) and work as an freelance events photographer for a small liberal arts college. My first camera was a Pentax ME Super in 1983 and I've been a fan ever since.

Cheers!
