I received a note from the Forum today wishing me a very happy birthday. Thanks and best wishes to all Pentax Forum members.
For interest I attach a recent photo of a military re-enactment taken with my KX.

Pentax K200D: unbeatable quality for the price, always a Pentax strength. Sharper than my Nikon D40 when pixel peeping, and the hue adjustment is very effective for shaping preferred colour response.
Improved ergonomics over K100D, especially no disabling of auto ISO when using exposure compensation.
However, K100D is still the high iso king at 3200 whereas K200D limited to iso 1600.
Having said that, its 1600 iso performance is superior to other DSLRS, including Nikon D40 which itself is better than most Canikons at 1600 iso.(See Camerlabs Nikon D40 review).
High iso performance is fantastic with Pentax, and this is often overlooked.

I have recently joined this forum and am very familiar with Pentax gear. I also own dslrs from other manufacturers.
I find that Pentax build their dslrs better, the kit lens is more substantial, the high iso image quality is better, and the built-in lens stabiliser is unbeatable.
I'm sure the new KM2000 will continue this tradition. Even Ricehigh seems to like it, although I'm surprised he still owns Pentax gear. His site is dedicated to Pentax fault-finding, primarily with underexposure, viewfinder issues, flash exposure and autofocus speed. He should look at other makers' problems while he's "measurbating."
My Nikon overexposes consistently when set to default, its high iso performance is not as good, and it has no image stabilisation. I refuse to buy specialised lenses. Its flash exposure is slightly better, but landscape colour is more accurate on the Pentax, as are skin tones, no matter how I adjust various settings. I like the Nikon for its overall results in dull weather, where the mid tones are nicely saturated.
The Canon reportedly has a poor kit lens, no image stabilisation without expensive lenses, and both Canon and Nikon lenses are much more expensive but no better optically.
No camera is perfect, but if I could only have one dslr, it would be Pentax. Good luck to the new Km2000.

Hi,
My name is Richard and I have been a Pentax user for many years. I have a Spotmatic, K1000, MX, MZ60 and MZ7, and recently a K100D. Also numerous lenses. I also have a Nikon D40 (sorry), and have owned and still own other makes of film cameras.
I have read many threads about the Pentax situation, with some people saying that the company is not as progressive as other DSLR makers.
While I enjoy the Nikon D40, I turn to the K100D for most things now.
I think the colours are better, and skin tones more attractive. Landscapes are great!
Hope to post some photos soon!
Have a great day!
Richard.
