As always, very hard to pick one for a vote, as each picture really is outstanding in its own right! In the end, no matter how much one tries to 'analyse', I feel it still comes down to some very personal emotional connection, something deep inside of us that resonates more... nothing logical, rational or even explainable in words (and that's why we need pictures!)
I liked the 'seasonality' of 1 and 3, the alternative world views of macros of 2, 12 and 14, the superbly painterly qualities of 7, 8, 9 and 15, the evocative power of 4 and 13, the dream-like miniature village in 6, the graphic quality of 10 and the Escher-esque perspective in 11...
But I ended up voting for 5, and if I try to rationalise it all (which again, I think would be covering up for the fact that, really, it was simply 'love at first sight'...) I think it is because it combines all the qualities displayed across all the other images. This white and black subject - which I suspect did not need 'converting' to monochrome - looks like a highly stylised drawing or painting, as if drawn in ink, takes me to a world of magical trees in frozen lands - I almost expect the Ice Queen to start appearing - the disappearing world, in all these shades of white makes me lose all sense of reality, like in some Escher's weird and impossible worlds...
Well done and good luck to all!

Very tough to choose one above the others..... they are all great shots! :-)
@TAP Yes, it'd be nice, but then again, it might influence voting; I think hidden results until end of contest is better...
