Just wanted to say "hello" ;)
There's a big lot of great shots you posted here, guys! (Agnostic, lbenac, tuco...)
Here's my sister's son (ME Super, M 50/1.4 @1.4, Kodak HD200, Canon 4200F w/ Vuescan): |

@Tuco: wow! my jaw just dropped on my floor ;) the sunset lanscape, the church, the rocks in the water... those are fantastic shots! i'm sure the medium format helps a bit with the sharpness and gives a bit room for getting the right tones, but you must have perfect kowledge of the craft (that is... the craft behind the art).

@tuco: *applause* beautiful series! i especially love the long exposure rocks, but all the others are great too. @agnostic: the reflection shot, with the sharp / dreamy contrast and the foggy atmosphere really raises the bar here : ) @tuco (again): that Zeiss Planar T* is a great & more expensive alternative for the 85/1.4 ...and my .02 contribution to the thread. both shots made last christmas in sibiu, romania.
pentax me super, m 50/1.4 wide open, kodak high definition, ISO 200, handheld. |

Congrats!
I just checked it and it's somewhere between GBP 200 - GBP 300... a bit over what I'm ready to pay.
However, a quick search on flickr turned out some great portraits!

@Agnostic: Yup, I thought of a 85/1.4, but i'm not sure there is such a lens for Pentax. (I wouldn't have the money for it, anyway!) So maybe next time my Tak 105/2.8 would do the job if fitted with some Fuji Pro800Z.
(Btw... is there anyone on this thread who tried Fuji's 800Z?)
Then... your "ghost" shot is nothing but amazing! I love how its shadow projects on the window. The richness of tones is great. The horizontal strip cutting the frame adds (r'n'r) rhythm. And the mood... uh-oh!

Hello guys,
Fantastic shots in the thread, it's really a great learning experience. Mer, Jzietman, Nesster, Agnostic - I love your photos.
Two weeks ago I took my ME Super at a concert. It was the first experience of this kind, so I'd tought I'd better take my fastest lens with me (M 50/1.4), together with some "flexible" ISO 400 film (Fuji Pro 400 H).
Here are my best results: |

@Nesster: Thanks! Now I guess the mother (my younger sister) won't give me any more cookies when I'll visit them.
However, the thing I did differently in these "clean" shots is that I watched carefully the curves when scanning with VueScan, then turned off all the tweakings proposed by ACR when opened the .dng file... so the results are the closest to my initial intentions.
@GeneV: yeah, but...
1) BW400CN is not 100% a bw film
2) I'd gladly process my own TMax (or Delta 3200), instead of letting the lab handle my BW400CN
3) usually I do clean the pics, but I scanned and uploaded this while (ssshhh...) at work
4) last time I checked the price of a Nikon scanner, I got to: "then I'd better buy a D700".

I always(*) scanned my b&ws as color negatives, but after Agnostic said he does the same, I tried to improve my output. Still trying, but I got some decent stuff lately ;)
(*) That's really short - only about a year now.
