The SA Pentaxians were at it again last night when MACRO was the order of business.
As always a great night's entertainment with the usual display of new and/or unusual aquisitions.
Thanks to Wedgetail for the use of his premises.
These were shot with the K100 F4 MACRO...
A couple of the Crown of Thorns...
Some rock crystals (i'm obviously not a geologist!!)
and one taken with Digitalis' Sigma 180mm macro
A couple of innovative approaches...
First..The Ikea Diffuser (there were two of thses custom built jobs in action) This is the MoiVous version shot with k100 F4.
And of course the bog standard setup of Sigma 180 and Pentax ring flash with 114mm of extension... ;)
The last one taken with the DA*60-250 @60mm.

Congrats on a great survey
One thing that caught my eye was that 5% thought the DA*60-250 needed an upgrade but only 4% owned it!! Upgrade to what I wonder.
As for interest in the DA85, I for one always preferred the 135 focal length for portraits. So perhaps I'm not alone;)

As promised - and sorry to crash in on the thread Wynston - but here are a few more from Saturday night - again with a Sigma 10-20mm (old version) and my K200D (on a tripod .."
Hi Chris
You're very welcome to "crash in on the thread":)
As always a pleasant evening's entertainment...
Good to see you are 'creative' not just taking them but also displaying them!!
It didn't occur to me to try a sequence. Must be getting old,
"with a remote )....."
Jolly joker...enough with the remote...:o:fedup::D

Thanks guys for the kind words.
It was a pleasant night out with those soft 10-20s:lol:
Look forward to seeing yours, Chris.
As for being a night photography expert, all you need is a sturdy tripod and a little patience. And some reasonably well lit targets:rolleyes:
Bringing the remote may have helped as well:o
Thank god they are ghosts!!! I thought I had one too many reds...
btw..All done with the K7 and Sigma 10-20 (the 'old' one)

Another SA Pentaxian's outing. Only two of us but since the Festival is in full swing and parking is at a premium i'm not that surprised.
The Northern Lighs display has nothing to do with the Aurora. This a a light display to illuminate buildings along North Terrace in a way which compliments the architecture.
So, on with the show... |

Getting the flash balance right shooting into a setting sun was not without it's headaches. Contast between light and shadow made framing somewhat difficult. Too much sun caused too much flare and the shadows resukted in too much flash.
Must find a better location next time. Not too easy with a crowd of 80000+.

The SA Pentaxians were at it again last Friday at the Adelaide Fringe opening parade.
Conditions were difficult and a brilliant decision led 'contre-jour' shooting until the sun sank below the surrounding buildings. Showed a bit of 'flair' with some:(
There's always someone sticking their nose in ...
Got the skates on...
Up close and personal...
Lamenting the loss of small theatres...
And what's a show without....
All shot with the K7 and FA*24 and the 540FGZ.

Hi Chris
A couple of stunners followed by a great set.
Sorry I missed it, I was in sunny (!!!!) Port Augusta.
Look forward to the second visit
By the way the K7's weather parameters are better than mine. The last shot I took up there had camera temp of 42C according to Photome. And that was at midday.

After reading this thread my great deal is not so great:confused:
At a local market I bought a M50 1.7 with a KM attached (that's a KM not a Km!) all held together by the grungiest never ready case you ever saw.
The camera and lens were in excellent condition however:D:D:D
All for 35AUD.

hi Chris
Thanks for the kind words...
They were dumping water and gel at the end of my street about 1 km away. Close enough, but the wind was favourable and the firefighters and bombers were on pretty quickly.
We were on evac standby though. I'm still putting the PC back together:)
Cheers

All taken with that much maligned combo the K7 and 60-250:)
24 hours later and they are still pouring water on it. We were fortunate it was yesterday. Today is "catastrophic" rating.

Yesterday we had some excitement when a deliberately lit bushfire broke out in an adjacent national park. While in no immediate danger our street was placed on evacuation standby. Thanks to the prompt action of firefighters and the fire bombers no injuries were sustained and no property damaged but about 80 hectares of park was burnt out.
We did however have a airshow right overhead and the star was the Erickson Skycrane "Christine" with an able supporting cast of a couple of Ag planes... |

Hi Guys
Another enjoyable day with great company as usual!!
It was good to see why Matt was crawling about on hands and knees all day (nice macros. And Adrians's DA*200 looks just stellar.
First off the mandatory Meerkat shot...
A couple of grumpy lions...
...and finally one of the Mandrills
All were shot with the K7 and DA*60-250

Thanks for the kind comments guys.
It really is worth a visit if you are in SA and you have petrolhead tendencies!
For MRRiley: They also have an extensive collection of bikes from Europe (Mostly British), North America and Japan.
