Buy K-1. Use it for couple of weeks and see what is overlapping among K5-II and K3. Sell the piece whose maximum features you "inherited" into K-1. At the end you will have two cameras and all the features you liked it. [ Do you hear Cube Gooding Jr shouting "Show me the Money" ] :-)

Glad to know about your decision (first GF as per NTRao:-)). K1 seems impressive for sports/birds as compared to current line up; but I will wait for actual reviews considering full frame coupled with existing APS lenses. As per the reviews K3 is still a better choice. When I trust a brand, I would less importance (relatively) to brand ( hey thats mee....). For the same reason, I got my K5 from US as I know I will handle it properly. If I were you, would get K3 from US if anybody is coming. Alternatively you can scout in this forum (buy & sell section) or KEH.com.
Good luck.

I have been using that beauty since October, 2009. It was alternative to kit lens (which I did not purchase). Had to contemplate a lot before buying it and I created my own matrix based on my needs before coming to conclusion. There might be new lenses and improvements since then. It is a fine piece of glass for walk around and landscapes. Minimum focus distance helped me in couple of situations. Sometimes felt missing faster aperture (2.8 or less) and some times reach (beyond 45mm). As a photographer, we need always some thing extra than what we have (LBA :-))
No regrets and I will use this till I find some good gift package in front of my door by Santa. If you get a good deal, go for it. Also if you get an opportunity to try different lenses, try before coming to conclusion. I did not had that "trying" opportunity.
I am an amateur photographer and you can have peek at some of the shots taken with that lens.
Good luck

Can you share your custom (user mode) settings for BIF (or point to the post if posted earlier)? I too have my own settings for BIF on k-5/DA*300, but I was not that much successful :-)

@apfhex, Can you share the technique? I still struggle with DA*300 for moving objects.

You might be having multiple lenses in your bag or at home and you are tempted to use all of them when you are in a good mood for photography. This symptom is prevalent for novices and advanced learners. Pick a single lens for the day or trip and stick to it. You will get get to know more about the lens and master over it. You will be concentrating more on learning curve rather than switching the gear and ignoring the wobbling mind saying to you "I need to shoot all of them". Never afraid to experiment with your glass/gear.

@edri, unfortunately k300/f4 does not have tripod mount. I have used it for some time with 1.7x TC during my learning curve and little bit of study shots helped me. Mr. Lowell in this forum shared some knowledge about his own setup (https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/10-pentax-slr-lens-discussion/144758-smc-300-f4.html). As long as you know the diameter and specifications of k/300 you can give a try with those ebay collar mounts and if it does not work, you can still sell it on ebay back. :-) If you never used prime/tele/manual lenses, that piece of a glass is a good "teacher"
