Some Laowa and Irix lenses have the same issue. Its likely a cost saving measure, as Eric mentioned, there is no need for the lens manufacturer to machine a recess if none of the dSLRs require it. You can get a late generation film camera that features a 'crippled' mount or...if you are very very...set on keeping this lens, ... you only need to notch out a small recess on that lip.
But rather than tanking the resale on the lens and for added flexibility, just find an *Ist or Mz-30/50 and in that way, you retain the ability to set aperture (priority) from camera vs only being tied to Program or Shutter Priority.

Wow, that is an extensive collection!
I think the Halton Train Museum or the Toronto Railway Museum might be interested in some of those photos of the trains, train travel, mechanicals and engineering etc,
Otherwise, I think you will find alot of information on the various pentax cameras and lenses here!

Old thread but I had the same problem in search of a hood for the DA*55 to use on full frame and didn't find ready answers here or in other forums. The hood for the DA55-300 appears somewhat deep for full frame application and while the DA55-300PLM hood appears more shallow, it isn't readily made by third party for me to test this without drilling a hole in my wallet. Sorry Pentax haha! I found that a 3rd party replacement hood, ES-63II, can fit. It is the pedal hood for the Canon EF28/1.8 USM so it may leave some coverage to be desired but it will click on and off and fit in reverse if you need a hood for that purpose. It needs a slight trim of the inner tabs to obtain perfect alignment for a Pentax Body *Additional caveat for Sony users, a number of K(DA) to Emount adapters (fotodiox/KF) lock the lens a little past 12 o'clock so if you fall into this weird niche, you can use the ES-63II hood without having to trim the tabs and it will sort of sit perfect relative to the Sony Body. YMMV
Update: just got clone of the ES-63c to experiment on and aside from the newer U-shaped retaining clips you need to remove (pry gently with a small flathead screwdiver and pull up), you will need to do a similar ~3-4mm trim of the ends of the tabs with an xacto knife.

Hard to say based on the one photo. Probably not fungus given that it looks even in distribution. It could be haze, hopefully not also some deterioration of the inner coatings or the optical cement inbetween some doublets. I suppose the difference would be if you wanted to take a stab at cleaning it.

Darn I think either these deals sell lightning fast or us browsing from out of country (Canada and others) just don't see due to shipping limitations. 😢

Yup, my 43 just broke one day, I took it off the camera and the focus ring was stuck like it was caught on something. AF was stuttering. I had heard about this issue before so my heart immediately sank.
I had another lens that needed cleaning and wasn't able to get into the lens myself so I gave my 43 to a local tech to get the gear fixed. He wasn't able to source the part from pentax and so just removed the cracked gear for me so I could still use the lens in manual focus.

The gear didn't really first and you had to force it on a few times? Did you have to warm the gear up before hand?
I'm worried about cracking the replacement as well haha

Did you have to wait long for the gear to arrive? Is the installation as simple as pushing the gear down onto the screwdrive pin with a C-Clamp or similar shaped plier? It looks like the replacement part on ebay has a smooth inside surface where the original gear has ridges.

Can you guys post a photo of the mount of the Irix 30mm? I'd be interested to know if there is a cutout for the aperture gauge unlike the early Irix lenses (11 and 15).

The adapter is nice but seems like it can use a Mk 2 update. The click stops seems to miss the usable range stopping just short of 1.8 or so lenses faster than that "slip" back to something like f2. The next intent seems to be f4 and then f8 and then f16 with the last three clicks beyond usable range. :hmm:

I have a 43 with a cracked gear as well. Had to ask a tech to remove the cracked gear as it was preventing me from rotating the focus ring in manual.
Let me know how the plastic replacement gears from AliExpress work out. I was told Ricoh didn't have the parts on hand for repair.

Just FYI, as a third party second option, the iShoot brand tripod ring for the Tamron 70-210/4 also fits fine on the DFA70-210/4. Actually from pics above, it looks similar to the Haoge one but with a longer ARCA plate and minus the slot for a camera strap.

Well, if there was one thing we are here for, misery loves company. My *IST is doing the same thing. The main shutter button has gone non-responsive as well but can take photos via the grip.

Is your MZ-s an Asahi Optical Co. number with serial 4xxxxx? I've been wondering about a north american repair option as well, preferably canadian for my MZ-3.

I think manual focus primes is part of the appeal of shooting with Pentax. You got it with rokinon, one of the main affordable options to shoot current optical designs in a lens housing that work with legacy film cameras.
