CA is only an optical problem. Did You test the 70-300 on both cameras, shooting the same object?

Why didn't Pentax make 16-45 hood like FA28-70 hood? Attachable to lens barrel, not extending element.

Speaking of lens disassembling, I have taken apart my 16-45 lens. I don't know what happened to it, but one day all the middle element started to rattle inside the barrel. It was realy hard to open it, but about 100 times harder to put everything back. Before that I've opened one cheap AD2 zoom and one offbrand lens, but these plastic modern lenses are next level.
Actualy I was surprised, how cheaply it was made, realy, not for DIY enthusiasts :)
Of course I did not fix it, because I couldn't find the problem, so it still rattles and makes blury pics.

What is the purpose of a lens? Using it as an umbrella or taking a good pictures? I don't have full pockets of money and there are many amateur photographers like me, so I'd better choose cheaper lens with a same or similar optical performance and buy another lens for the rest of the money. Of course, better for me would be a cheaper 16-50/2.8 Pentax lens without sealing and sdm - it's the optical quality why I love Pentax, not extra features. If I would be a fast autofocus and sealed lens freak, I'd go for a C*non and L lenses.
Those who need extra features buy DA* lenses, those who don't have enough money and don't need SDM and WS have to choose a 3rd party lens, because there is no fast Pentax budget lenses as Tamron 17-50

Let me show You why! Example:
Tamron 17-50/2.8 ~ 400$
Pentaf-DA 16-50/2.8 ~700$
Tamron 70-200/2.8 ~ 700$ + better reach
Pentax 50-135mm/2.8 ~ 800$
Only Pentax primes are incomparable to 3rd party primes and worth extra money.
I think Pentax users are just like N or C users, they use the best price/performance lens.

I still use my good old Storm and E6300 (my first Intel cpu after S939 period :D ). BTW I bought my first Pentax camera when I saw OPBs pictures. I remember everyone at OCX forums asked him: what camera did you use? And he said: lol, its the cheapest DSLR on market K100D :D . Too bad he switched to N*kon later.

Many Pentaxians still use old K, M, M42 lenses without electrical contacts, so I don't think that adapter could drain Your battery.

True! But funny at the same time. USA is the most powerfull country and every single person on the earth is dependent on US activities. American voters actually are responsible for more than just their own country, so they are rulers of destiny for everyone. And I'm not gonna tell what average non-american thinks of average american voter...
Thanks God the winner is Obama, I hope our planet will become a bit more peacefull.

I have Vivitar S1 70-210mm V2 too. Color rendering is fantastic, but sharpness could be a bit better. Best performance is at F5.6-F8. F3.5 is too soft for my taste.

I thing Tamron macro lens is just as good as Pentax. Wide open performance from Photozone tests are similar, but Tamron has 9 aperture blades for better bokeh and it costs less than Pentax FA lens.
I'd go for Tamron and buy some beers for the rest of the money :)
