For Sale - Sold: Complete K-5 Kit with many lenses and great bag

Hello folks. I am offering my complete kit for sale either as a whole, or in pieces.

As a whole kit, I am asking $2,000 or best offer via PM using PayPal or cashier check (camera kit will ship once payment clears).

I purchased this K-5 back in November of last year. I decided that if my images weren't selling professionally, this would be my last DSLR. Well, they haven't really sold and it's time for me to downgrade to something else less steller than this kit has been. I was always very pleased with the equipment and I will greatly miss some of the features of Pentax. It was my first SLR (K-1000) and might be my last at this point. Regardless, here is what your $2,000 OBO will get you:

A genuine high quality Besseler camera backpack in great shape (hunter green with gold trim). Accepting offers at or near $100 for the bag.

All cables (including charging and connection cables), caps, manuals and boxes (I still have many of the boxes and manuals that came with the equipment)

Genuine Pentax 42mm screw mount adapter

Large Rocket Blaster

16GB SDHC card

Genuine Pentax K-5 body (sensor recently professionally cleaned by Pentax in the U.S.A.) with low shutter count (less than 1500 shots) Accepting firm offers at $750 for the body.

Genuine Pentax SMC DA 12-24mm lens with Hoya 77mm UV filter, hood, caps. Just got this at Christmas of last year. Barely used and in mint physical and functional shape. Accepting offers at or near $750 for this lens.

Genuine Pentax SMC DA 16-45mm lens with Hoya 67mm PL filter, hood, caps. My favorite walkaround lens. Used often, in excellent physical and functional shape. Accepting offers at or near $275 for this lens.

Genuine Pentax DA35 lens with caps. Got this last Christmas, great portraits come from this, an excellent walkaround as well if you don't mind composing somewhat. In excellent physical and functional condition. Accepting offers at or near $180 for this lens.

Genuine Pentax-A SMC 50mm/1.4 lens with original caps. In pristine condition, won lens in a photography contest and always loved using it indoors. Accepting offers at or near $150 for this lens.

Tamron Gold Ring 70-300mm Macro lens with Prisma 62mm UV filter, hood, caps. Decent performance in a fairly light lens. In excellent physical and functional shape. Accepting offers at or near $125 for the lens.

Helios 44 42mm screwmount lens with caps. 56/2. Decent condition, great condition for its age and use. I always loved this lens, even way back on my K-1000. Accepting offers at $50 for this lens.

JC Penney 135mm lens with one cap and slide out metal hood. Good condition. Never really used it. Will throw it in to the complete kit when purchased in total.

All of these items, priced separately (at significant savings from new equipment prices) as listed above equal $2,380. I am asking for $2,000 OBO plus actual shipping costs (USPS Priority plus insurance).

I would prefer to not piece out this kit, but will accept offers I deem reasonable if they are made.

I have sold items on these forums before, I have a good history of selling and I used to be a fairly active poster as well, before I realized that this fine art photography thing may not be for me. I gave it a go though.

Thanks for taking the time, I attached some photos I took to give you an idea of what is included.

Item for Sale
K200D with lens $225

Asking Price
$225 including USPS Priority

Item Location
Oregon Coast (United States)

Item Description
Hello folks... This is a Pentax K200D, the same exact camera that took the photos found here:

Jason Randolph's Photos | SmugMug

I moved to the K-5 and have no need for a second body since I shoot exclusively fine art landscapes.

The camera is functionally flawless, and in what I would call excellent condition. You may view the images below. I just shot a few quick ones at the kitchen table.

It will come in the original box, with no SD card or batteries, but with original strap, manuals and PC connection cable. I also have a K200D Magic Lantern book/quick reference card that I will throw in there as well. It is all securely packaged away and ready to be shipped.

There's around 10,000 frames on it now.

I part with this camera with much hesitancy as it has been a constant companion for several years. It has helped me to reach new photographic goals and achieve some award winning photographs. However, I feel that it could really be a great starter for a youth coming into the world of photography or as a starter body to get somebody into Pentax equipment/glass. Also, for those of you who have loved the K200D body as I have, who have wanted a back up Pentax body, etc. this is a great opportunity.

The lens was a used unit I purchased and is functionally in excellent condition. It does have some front barrel scratching on the steel (present when I purchased it), but the glass is in excellent shape.

I always treat all of my equipment well, since I am unable to simply afford to replace it as I wish. That treatment is evident by the condition of the body, which I purchased new and have always protected from damage or misuse.

I am asking for a trade involving an auto focus prime lens from 28mm to 50mm (either DA or film). If you have a prime lens that is fairly fast and sharp in good condition, please contact me. If you have a zoom lens around that shoots great portraits and is fairly fast, I'd be interested in that as well, but I will be much more interested in prime lens offerings. Decent or better bokeh quality would be nice as well. Ideally, I would best entertain something like a Pentax 35mm DA L F2.4 AL Lens in trade.

I will pay shipping to you and you do the same for me. I will be selecting a 2-3 days shipping option through the USPS.

I will be out of town from the 18th until the 20th of November.

Please contact me with any questions and thank you...

Hi folks...

Just sharing that I purchased the K-5 today and the Pentax DA 12-24mm f/4 ED AL (IF) to go with it. If any of you want to comment on that lens, I would appreciate it. I am hoping to do well handling that glass and add to my fine art landscapes.

Jason Randolph's Photos | SmugMug

I am moving up from the K200D. Hope that I really enjoy the difference. Has anyone else made a similar jump?

I am inquiring about the value of a K200D body in very good condition. I took about 10,000 frames with this one, and just looking for a general idea. If it's not worth a pretty substantial used market amount, I might just gift it to my father.

Take care everyone...

Thanks Marc, I appreciate your insight on this. I suppose I will be thinking about the K20D currently, due to some outstanding K-7 stabilization issues, as well as the smaller body. My big hands may not fit the K-7 well.

I really wish I could easily afford the MF units with digital backs.

K200D user to K-7?

Hello everyone...

I know, it's been awhile since I have been on here, and I've missed it, but some changes in my personal life (I'll spare the details), got me distracted for a time.

What I am really hoping for is this: I want to be sold on the K-7. I don't want/feel the need to leave Pentax for any reason, but I do feel that I need to jump to the next level, from the 200D to ? I have been somewhat successful professionally with the K200D, a testament to both the camera and I guess a little bit to the user, working around some limitations (not trying to be immodest).

As a professional, I shoot the images you'll find here: http://www.fineartlens.com. I already have much of the Pentax glass I need, am already fairly well established in Pentax. But, I want better resolution, more sharpness, etc. as well as other things like better in body stabilization at low light than the K200D.

I usually shoot landscape (as evident by the website above), anywhere possible on the color and black/white setting field (I love the K200D black and white in camera filter options and may not be able to easily function without them, it really simplifies my workflow). But, I do occasionally shoot portraits every now and again. I also have been known to grab the camera for traveling and family adventures, etc. In fact, we just got back from Ireland, where the camera was doused with rain, completely drenched on a daily basis, and the only thing I had to worry about was keeping the lens clear. Great shooting...

So, should I move up? Is it worth it to learn the nuances of a new camera for the advantages of the K-7 (namely, for me, the sensor)? I don't want to speak to Pentax sales, I want the opinion of those who really use the cameras.

Also, any rumors of full frame in the near future?

Thanks for your time...

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. My K200D fits perfectly in my hands, I don't mind the weight either.

The next Pentax body I buy new will have a full frame sensor, more MP's, and superior image quality. I might be able to skimp a bit one of these three if the other two are fulfilled. However, size is really not an issue for me. Maybe it's time for me to move to medium format. ;)

Item for Sale
4 lenses, 42mm-KA mount

Asking Price
Trade only please

Item Description
Hello folks!

Well, I have to start scaling back on some of these lenses. I still have some gaps in my equipment and have a couple specific requests in exchange for the lenses.

First, let me tell you about the lenses. They are all used and I have had the 42mms crew mounts for over 10 years, though none of them since new. I am not the original owner of any of these lenses. All of them were in used condition when I got them. No major concerns for overall image quality in my opinion, but all of them have seen their share of years. They aren't terribly beat up, but all of them show a nick or scratch. Some small particles inside the glass also exists on these lenses, but like I write above, I do not see any trouble regarding image quality.

You can see all of them here (including some example images from the lenses on my K200D):

Lenses for sale - a set on Flickr

The lineup is:

3 42mm screw mounts, 2 of them are auto aperture available.

Protonar 75-205mm f/3.8 75-205mm

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3395/3429916980_057f4ec67e.jpg?v=0

Vivitar Wide Angle f/2.5 28mm

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3568/3429102947_bdbed5946e.jpg?v=0

Helios 44-2 f/2 58mm (the glass in the best condition out of the lot in my opinion)

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3603/3429103041_2e466e17dd.jpg?v=0

And one KA mount.

Tau Five Star f/3.5 35-75mm zoom

Tou/Five Star MC Auto Zoom f/3.5 35-70mm on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

If I get lucky enough to entice somebody to take all these lenses, I am asking for a super wide prime lens in exchange. Brand does not matter, and I don't need auto aperture. A 42mm screw mount would work. Beat up looking is quite alright as long as it works well with no imaging issues.

If you are interested in any of them individually, please offer me something interesting. I am looking for macro primes, flash units for my K200D, battery grip for the K200D, etc.

Also, a larger bag than my Beseler would be great, something that could easily hold 6 or more lenses safely and with some weather resistance (not water proof, or course).

Anyhow, let me know if you have any questions, thanks for looking!

Lens advice needed

Hello Bryan and welcome!

Let me first say that I am a big fan of the 16-45mm and feel it is a very capable lens by itself (I do own this lens and have proudly taken thousands of frames with mine). With that said, I want to stress two different things really. First, I am a bigger fan of prime glass than zoom lenses (but I feel the 16-45mm is a GREAT zoom lens) if you can use them. Secondly, I suggest you get out there with the lenses you settle on and shoot hundreds/thousands of shots to become very familiar with their strongpoints and their weaknesses. Enjoy your time overseas, I have always wanted to visit Ireland. If you know your camera well you will not become frustrated and will get the most from your visit.

Be sure to show off those photos when you get back!

Yes, the yellow/red highlighting is pretty annoying to me as well much of the time. I am more inclined to the histogram myself. Regardless, am I the only guy around here with the Pentax Magic Lantern guide for my camera? That dang thing was (and still is) a great resource explaining all this stuff. :)

As has been posted many times before, I think the weather sealing in the body does just fine for 98% of us, the sealed lenses are not such a high priority. I shoot constantly in wind, rain, sea spray and there is now no other camera I would take walking in mountains, desert or our mossy and wet Oregon coast (with plenty of blowing sand). Just some advice for you after you invest in the Pentax body.

Eco, this could be an ideal jump, just be ready to accept that every camera, regardless of badge and price, have some little quirks. I have not just accepted the quirks in the Pentax digital system, I have embraced them and have changed my shooting around to meet those challenges most of the time.
