This was shot near Notre-Dame around 10pm a week ago… I was at an event nearby when the news broke, I had my GR so I went there. The place was crowded but surprisingly silent. The atmosphere was both surreal and heart-wrenching.
Technically not a good picture, but that's all I managed to snap.

Now for something completely different and lighter, a sunset from the window a couple days ago.

As a matter of fact, I'm 45 and presbyopia is starting off slowly. Not yet to the point of making it difficult to see the GR display at normal arm's distance, but I definitely can't read the smallest text on cans anymore…
I mainly use the display to check exposure blinkies though, so hopefully it won't be too annoying for many more years :hmm:

Same here, when I bought the GR I started looking for one of those hotshoe viewfinders. Then I realized I didn't need one. Not having one immediately made me adopt another way of taking pictures, that I like a lot. It won't work for every kind of photography, but it suits my street-casual-non-pro style very well.

Perhaps TAv is replaced with an "M with auto-iso"?

Same story here. I should have sold the K-5 (and Limiteds…) a long time ago. I'm glad they keep the GR line.

My last post was outdated again. New Flickr, new how-to!

1. Click the sharing button. It is located near the bottom right of the picture.

2. Click the "BBCode" tab.

3. Choose a size ("Large 1024 × 678" is fine for the forum) then copy the code and paste it directly in your message.

4. (optional) Modify the BBCode.
The code is actually two BB tags. You may want to keep each tag on a separate line, so that the name is always displayed below the picture, not next to it.
Or you may want to remove the link, and just keep the picture.

I bought the GR as soon as it was available, I've used it in many places in all weather, in my pocket or a bag without any pouch or protection. I have yet to see any dust in my pictures.

Depending on your color settings (menu Edit -> Colors) Photoshop can display images in a different way.
If you don't want to mess with these settings, you can use soft proofing: menu View -> Proof setup. There you can tell photoshop to simulate the final result in different color spaces. If you choose sRGB it should be closer to the final jpeg.

You can use The Unarchiver, available from the App Store. A pretty good replacement to the default app.

I read on another site that Ricoh has confirmed the manual is wrong. There is no limit to ISO in TaV mode, and it's the way they want it to work.

Same feeling here. The K-5 has been sleeping most of the time since I bought the GR. Having the camera with me all the time is a major change. Before the GR I used my phone when I didn't have the dSLR, but shooting with a phone is slow, image quality is not quite there and they are also more difficult to handle and operate.
The lack of viewfinder was the main reason I was hesitant to get the GR, but in the end I find it liberating too. Not sure I will get an additional viewfinder now.

Also, with the GR people don't pay attention to you nearly as much as with a SLR. I never try to hide or be stealthy, instead I make it a principle to be visible when I take pictures of people, but the GR seems harmless to people and even when they see me they don't react the same way. I have a theory that when you use a point and shoot people don't mind because they become a souvenir, but when you use a SLR they feel they become a subject.

Tutorial updated for the new 2013 Flickr interface.

1. On your photo page, click the "Sharing" icon at the bottom right of your picture to open the drop-down. Click on the "Grab the HTML" link.

2. Choose a size in the drop-down, then click the "BBCode" button below. Copy the content in the code field.

3. On PentaxForums, just paste the BBCode in your message. You don't even need to click any button here!

It will create a picture with a link to the Flickr page. Easy :)

As an example, here's a "small 320" image from my Flickr account:

_IGP4839 by Philippe Gervaise, on Flickr

By the way, there are two BBCode tags: one for the image, one for the text link. You could well get rid of the text link if you just need the picture in your post, as the image itself has a link to the Flickr page.

Please note that this is the preferred way to embed Flickr images, since Flickr's rules require you to link back to the photo page rather than juste the image. See Flickr community guidelines.
