I live within a few miles of the Pentax headquarters in Golden, CO and yet I can not find Pentax DSLRs and lenses for sale in any nearby retail stores. The only chain that did sell them (Ultimate Electronics) just went out of business. That is pretty deplorable when you can't find Pentax so close the the HQ. Come on Pentax, please start selling in some of the chains! I don't like having to go by mail order.

Feb 2011....Ultimate Electronics is going out of business..There goes just about the last retail store in the area that carried Pentax.

Welcome to the party!
You will find digital strange at first like the comment from the old Judy Garland movie " I don't think we are in Kansas anymore..." but it will become second nature again quickly and comfortable like the K1000. Enjoy!

I have the Sigma 10-20 mm. It is a good lens and does not have the fisheye distortion at 10 mm.

Check out the Porter's (of Iowa) web site. They have a 500mm mirror lens in their catalog. I am not sure if it is for Pentax or the N-C cameras.

OK, if your are interested in more discussion, then let's start by being unofficially, the Upper Midwest Pentax Group, for now. Let's be open to anyone who is living in, used to live in, can see in or would like to live in the upper midwest (including MN, WI, MI and IL). Hopefully that doesn't get too restrictive. In other words, you are all invited!
The key is to post pictures and commentary of persons, places and things (including Pentax cameras, technology, etc) from the upper midwest that interest us. Let's just agree that the pictures are not obscene, the commentary friendly and that we can all be comfortable. We must also abide by the rules of the Pentax Forum that is our host.
I'll start off by adding a link to my photoblog that has a variety of photos from the upper midwest:

Welcome and hello to all that posted. We may not be a large group, but certainly one with inspired Pentax photographers and a common tie to Wisconsin.

If you can see or be in any part of WI, then that is close enough. Glad to meet all three of you. perhaps we can have our own mini community of upper Mid West Pentaxians. What types of photography do all of you enjoy...landscape, fashion, portraits...Packers?
I am pretty much into nature/landscape shots. Check out my photoblog.:p
